Be sure to stop payment on this otherwise you'll be another sucker. I thought they would have better values than this.

Won't accept my subscription . Can download PDF from website, initially app worked fine. This app doesn't work, and no one is answering me.

L70%
by L####:

There is another National Review app in the app store that is the correct one to use for your subscription. This one should be deleted from Google Play.

It was good when it works. Got a special for a trial so i gave it a try. Worked for the first week but then the issues downloaded would disappear when i tried to click read. Told to uninstall and reinstall when i contacted help but now my account isnt recognized. When i try to log in, nothing. Went to reset password, says account doesnt exist even as i still get the emails for new issues. Not worth my time to make it work.

Don't fall for it - this is just a scam to try to sell you

There is nothing here. You buy the magazine in the app. Dumb. No one buys magazines, thats so 20th century.

Q70%

Can't read anything on mobile because the text is entirely too blurred (but amazingly the adverts are perfectly clear) PLUS I now have a notification on my phone I cannot get rid of! Garbage app. Glad the subscription was free!

Q70%
by Q####:

Gives instant access to all magazine content in both magazine form and standard web text (the latter suitable for sharing). Navigation is a breeze. Only thing that would make it better is an interface to the larger website. EDIT: Folks complaining that the app has no free content are missing the point: this is an app for subscribers. You aren't SUPPOSED to be able to read anything here without being a subscriber.

I like the tapping the screen to launch a condensed text page, I just wish the app told you could do it. Also, why does the app mute music playing apps when it launches?

Aug 30, 2013. In April '13, I gave the app 4 stars after some significant improvements were made. There were still problems but the app had become functional as opposed to the prior version. I guess in the effort to keep improving, the app has become very unstable, constantly crashes if you try to expand type print. Also, a controls icon that appears in lower right corner is inoperative. To access issues previously loaded, you have to close the app and reopen Frustrated enough I don't care to use it, its back down to 1 star

THIS APP ISN'T FREE, I AM GIVING IT ONE STAR AND DELETING IT

This new app (now that I'm finally able to log in) is a big step backwards. Whereas the previous app carried the magazine articles in a format that was easy to read on a phone, this one appears to just serve up PDFs of the print magazine. Getting through even a single page requires a lot of swiping and pinching. Might as well just navigate to the web site on my phone's browser. Definitely won't renew by digital subscription if they don't fix this.

This app really needs some work. NR would benefit from taking a look at the interface when purchasing the magazine from Barnes & Noble on a Nook...the interface is MUCH better, but I can't seem to connect the Nook subscription to my print subscription for the discounted rate. I've emailed NR about this, but no answer...frustrating!

Thank you NRO for fixing this app. The last one was a nightmare. The organization of information and resources in this version leaves something to be desired. There is not much by way of configuration, its pretty much "as-is". At least it will let me download on my HTC vivid.

This publication thinks it's the voice for everybody else. It's a great publication if you're a Democrat and want to say that you're a Conservative. Who paid you guys off for your last issue? Nice 2.9 star rating. It speaks for itself and the publication... If you can call this rag a publication. When the majority speaks that's called democracy. When you try and strong arm your opinion on the majority just remember... There's no Germans here Hitler.

App works fine, just didnt realize I would have to pay 1.99 a magazine when I can just go on their site withoutban app and read for free.

It used to work a little bit, but now it only shows a black screen. This is an embarrasment for an otherwise good publication, I hope they dont have to pay an app developer for this level of incompetence.

I guess that they have not quite figured out this internet thing.... Locks you completely out of content unless you have an active subscription. Sigh.... I will just use the web site. They underestimate their readers.

This is an app to become a subscriber. Wtf? Installed and then uninstalled in 30 seconds. Complete crap and misleading. Should have 0 stars.

Z70%
by Z####:

This version is similar to magazine readers like the one available on the Nook. You can still get the PDF file from the National Review website if you prefer that, but you will have to subscribe directly with NR, which is probably cheaper then getting single issues through this app. You NR subscription will work with this app. I will start reading the magazine through this app instead of the PDF. Easier on the eyes with a tablet.

Z70%

NR should be ashamed to have this piece of garbage bear the name. Crash prone, clunky, difficult to use. I would give it one star except for the content. Revision 9/2013: I am downgrading this to one star with disgust at the fact that this craptastic app has crashed no less than 3 times in the under 10 minutes I have spent trying to read the most recent issue. Each time it brings me back to the cover. Impossible to use.

P70%
by P####:

The recent update is a huge improvement (after two unusable versions). But I can't figure out how to look at older issues, and I still can't read in text mode without an Internet connection.

I loaded the ap just to see of the previous reviews were accurate. Yup. The ap pretty much sucks. Love NRO. Would like to be able to read it comfortably on all my Android devices without constantly "stretching" content. Gal S4 and Nexus 7. None of this works. The maximum zoom on PDF reader is now proportional to screen density. The store-front scales correctly with high density screens, such as Galaxy S4 or Google Nexus 4 and 7. Is now possible to easily close the interstitial thanks to the X in the top right corner. The app resumes to the last page viewed, even after closing it.

Am I to assume that NR is only available digitally through this app? It used to be PDF and you could read it with a well-written PDF reader. Now, using this app, you have to wait for page after page of a little rotating circle while the app struggles to compile the page. I'd rather not, thank you. Just resume releasing issues in PDF so I can read them on my tablet with a PDF reader, better--and faster, that's for sure.
