Cut Calculator for Android
Not perfect, but it does what I need. It would be good if it could cope with various material sizes and optimise them at the same time rather than having to do a new list for each.
I found that it created more wastage then necessary. In the project I trialled it on, it said I needed 10 lengths of timber and had a wastage of 5110mm in total. I used the data sheet it generated and calculated I could use 9 lengths of timber with a total wastage of 2370mm. Thats quite a difference in timber used and cost involved. Please improve the optimisation of product usage. I would also like to see the ability to enter different stock lengths.
Very useful and time consuming. Other comments may be from perhaps more skilled diy'ers than myself, however it's simple to use and free!
Very good for projects where you have fixed lengths of stock. Does what it says hence 5 stars. Would be perfect if several stock lengths could be entered. e.g. I have in stock offcuts from previous jobs, would like to optimise including those in the stock list to use them up. Would be nice to store offcut lists somewhere to load when needed.
Cannot be used for optimizing how a sheet of plywood is cut
It will not accept a range of stock sizes to cut from, which is what I was seeking.
My task was to optimize the cutting of window moulding from 3.6 meter lengths of stock and this app provides a cut list and accounting of waste. A weakness is that I could not find a way to save the report directly to PDF format. I can either take a screenshot or "share" the report via email. I would also have liked the ability to save my "job" in case I wanted to revisit it later and make modifications to my measurements. [Google Nexus 10, latest Android update]
does what it says
Waste of a dollar
Very practical for my business
This app is good. Tell it how long the boards are.....tell it how long each cut is...and how many of each you want. You'll be given a list of not only how many boards you need....but also how to cut each board to get the most of your timber. It even has a tick box next to each so that you can keep check on your progress. The developer is also very fast to help you fix any troubles....and he has been keeping me updated on bug fixes. The only downside is that it struggles with massive lists. Above 500 parts.
