CallMom BASIC is the next step in the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) for mobile devices. Unlike other virtual assistants, CallMom BASIC does not rely on a remote server to process your natural language requests. CallMom BASIC utilizes the ALICE 2.0. bot, a new chatbot personality designed specifically for mobile virtual assistant applications. ALICE 2.0 provides natural language responses to your spoken input, controls activation of device features, exchanges information with other apps and web services, and generates personality responses for ordinary conversation. ALICE 2.0, written in AIML 2.0 (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language version 2.0), includes a persistent learning capability, so the bot can learn about your preferences and the app can provide a personalized experience.

The AIML "brain" for ALICE 2.0 resides right on your device. Some features require network connectivity, but simple chat and local device commands work even without an internet connection.

CallMom BASIC implements all of the device control features found in many virtual assistants such as Siri. Broadly speaking, the ways people use virtual assistants fall into three categories:
Device commands - dialing a number, sending a text, sending an email, checking battery status, activating Wifi and GPS etc.
Information requests - Asking for factual information, contact data, calendar events, weather, news, sports etc.
Personality - Ordinary conversational inputs about random topics for which there is not necessarily a "right answer", but the virtual assistatnt is expected to have an opionion or personal response.

Although its a great app and a start to a different type of ai on a mobile there are problems Unlike its sister app it does not ask if the preceding response should be linked to the existing response via a THAT tag which greatly reduces its ability for beginners The learnf.aiml file is difficult to edit on the mobile especially using aimlif files. I have to download to excel to edit properly. It would be better to be able to edit like it's sister app from the Pandora server.

It is easy to edit the learnt.aiml with one of the many spreadsheet editing apps on the Play Store.(hint hint) Anyway, my only problem is that it doesn't support tablet screens, but then, it is designed for phones.

No way to send feedbacks, no widget nor shortcut available to use. And the brain loads at every start. Is the best chatBot in the worst shell. Improve it!

As a teachable Alice based (though 2.0) chat bot this is a solid effort. The brain is locally stored with no cloud based storage options... Nor is there any way to download other Pandorabot brains as a start. The brain editor is unintuitive; what determines the order? Is it how prominent or often-used it is? And when I delete parts of it, sometimes they later return. I'm never sure if an edit stuck. 'Learn from text' would be great.
