DashCommand (OBD ELM App) for Android
The app is perfect and does everything it says it will do. Something in the core code is funky on my device. I am seemingly unable to close the app entirely; it remains in my notifications even after closing the app and it takes about a min to disappear from notifications when I force stop. Additionally, nothing in the settings change this. I have even tried to change skins and other non related elements in order to cover everything I could on my end. It remains open when I want it closed.
App crashes when i reopen it after putting it in background for sometime. I have the app's persistent notification enabled, and my phone's battery saver disabled.Bugreport to follow sometime soon. Otherwise provides a great layout with most data that I want to see about my car.
Lately the app locks up when I try to change screens. Say i go from the code read back main screen so I can go to dashboards. Locks up. Notification hangs in the notification bar. Have to go into settings, apps, find that app and force stop.
I have the paid version, and for basic things it works well. However, it deliberately censors OBD diagnostic codes to try and make you pay for their add-ons! Unacceptable! Common codes for most vehicles are all over the internet, but the app hides the last two digits to make you pay $10 for their "manufacturer" package? BS. Show me the codes. If I'm too lazy to look them up I'll pay for your package that tells me what you think it means. Don't hide what doesn't belong to you.
Works great with an OBDLink LX, takes a bit to sync up on startup sometimes though. Be aware of the $10 cost. Only gripe is that it logs you out of your account seemingly at random which is annoying. Being able to download the DashXL editor for free to create custom skins is awesome.
Been using this for awhile now, and its a great program. It does take a lot of ram on my older phone, so it does sometimes freeze up without warning. Takes a battery pull to fix. When it works though, its a powerful diagnostic tool.
Love the interface. However constantly gets stuck and needs to be forced stop. For $10 app (the most expensive app I bought so far), such low level problem is not acceptable since obviously quality control is not there.
Nice app works good! Do have problem though, purchased the duramax package because it showed I could get rail pressure but rail pressure will not show any info even with the pid selected.
But always room for improvement. I would like more choices for gauge layouts, not having to re-arrange and fix layouts. Just a bunch of different layouts to choose from depending on the car or device. But i love it, its the only way to go.
Flawed I originally liked this app for the dashboards already set up and that it allowed logging. The latter was the main reason I paid. However, you cannot close the app, "close" from the notification bar does nothing. Fortunately I have my avast battery saver app to easily close it. And the log file management is broken. Deleting log files only removes the listing on the app; all the files are still on your device so you have to delete them using a file manager. These are pretty major usability bugs I'm surprised are still there. The logging, on the one hand, is quite flexible, but it seems total trial and error to find/select parameters that are actually measured. Better support for easily logging available parameters would be appreciated.
This looks pretty, but doesn't give info I can get on other apps. My biggest problem is they only give you 30min to try it out & they block many features! Why do both? Either disable the best features OR give a limited time! So worried they won't make money that you scare away interested people. 30min isn't close to long enoigh to review your app even with much of it disabled. This looked promising but I will look elsewhere because of your policies that make it impossible to really try out!
Was not able to close this app without powering off my phone and why does it need access to everything?! I don't need something tracking me and running down my battery as well.
It shows "try increasing obdII timeout" in my android phone.Tried but not working.Meanwhile ther obdII apps are working fine with the Elm 327 adaptor..
S7Edge; App will not close from top drag down bar and remains running in background with the "x close" option unresponsive. Heavy battery usage in this state. Otherwise a very useful app with plenty of options and customisation.
Works well. Has helped diagnose many issues as they come up with my new to me Chevy. Wish it could read abs and airbag codes expecially when upgraded to the full app. overall an inexpensive tool for any obd2 vehicle.
It is free for only 30 minutes. When did free start to have a time limit? Could have stated this in the description. Could not evaluate it properly. Looks interesting but not paying for it after 30 minutes of use. Not a good business model. Will look at other apps similar to this.
Changed cell and having trouble reconnecting so bought app again as had no help from CS. Now program asking to buy app a 3rd time.WTF. Changed rating from 5 to 4 star. However if you can get pass this hurdle then It's a great app. Learn your car, become an expert and learn the terms for today's driver. Dealer wanted to change my quiet catalytic converter (no noise or rattle) when was only the sensor after reading errors and using blog groups. Other functions I learned thanks to this apt and Gopoint. Thks
This is the most complete OBD2 app for Android on pre-2008 GM vehicles if you buy the GM extended PIDs after installing it ($20 total). Only software I know of that will read cam sensor retard on 96-97 4.3 Blazers. Car Gauge Pro will read cam sensor retard on 98 up 4.3 Blazers (I have a 2001), but it will not connect to 96-97 at all for GM extended PIDs and is not easy to use. Torque Pro is pretty nice software, but I find it is limited in some areas and it will not read cam sensor retard on anything. Will be interested to learn how this software acts with later CAN protocol vehicles (2006 up). I also have a 2006 G6 with first year CAN protocol that neither Car Gauge Pro or Torque Pro can connect with for extended PIDs. Palmer Performance's Scan XL Pro for Windows does these on my G6, so I suspect the Dash Command will as well. Still I need to try it on the G6 to know for certain, but I am quite happy with this software so far. With Dash Command you buy the extended PIDs for each of the big three. 12/28/16 - bought the extended PIDs for my 2006 G6 GTP and they do work just fine.
Downloaded the app. Entered my vehicle as it was unable to detect the model. Adapter connects. App searches for supported PIDs, then disconnects and tells me it's in evaluation mode and I have 30 minutes left to use the app and dashboard info. Reconnect. Disconnects again and gives me same message. 4 tries. If I can't evaluate what information the app is going to give me (not to mention my vehicle is apparently not readily supported) why would I spend $10 bucks to buy it. Worthless and wasted time :(
The support is only providing same documents instead of trying to solve the problem. How can it be, torque is working fine but dashcommand not. You should search the error at your side.
I think that this is the best app of its kind currently on the play store. My only issue with it is that the close button on the notification in the drop down screen doesn't close the software. If it were to be fixed, so that I don't have to hunt for it in the application manager in settings, I'd buy it. But until such time I must refrain as to the fact that my phone restarts enough as it is without this program running in the background, causing the phone to heat up to heat up beyond touchability.
Love the app, I've used it many times to read and clear codes. I just wished it had the capability to modify settings on the computer (shift points, idle rpm, etc) it's more of a read only app. But aside from that, it does give all the real time data you could want and more. Absolutely worth purchasing app plus specific vehicle extended parameters. Also wish vehicle parameters weren't so expensive. After getting new vehicles every so often, it starts to get expensive.
As soon as I downloaded it I bought the unlocked full version so worth the £6.18 / $9.99 . Very happy with this app I have read and clear my fault codes . My car is has decat and removed EGR . Before this app those codes come up on a few thousand pounds worth of scanner that my mechanic has used on my car. This app works great diagnostic work very well. And give the code with and explains the code. Saves you looking them up . Dash board live data is incredible to. Great app well worth the money
It's as good you could expect it to be. When I got my drivers license 25ish years ago this level of technology was unimaginable....
Works fine if I have it hooked up to my ELM27 BT OBDII adapter in my wife's Pathfinder, but if I put it in my F150, it won't even connect to the adapter and the adapter is paired with both my phone and my Android Radio in my truck. This is crap, considering the price I paid for it.
Using in a 2015 Honda Civic Si. App works well, lots of info to log and monitor, and includes a launch and 0-60 timer. Not a lot of Dashboard templates available for Honda vehicles (1 user designed dashboard for what looks like the B18C1/5 Integra GS-RType R engines) . User dashboards and app seem to favor US built V8 cars, but that's not a huge deal. Overall I'm happy with it. I do have an awful hard time getting the app to close once I am done using it. The close options don't work, and the app will persist until I go into setting in Android, Apps, and force quit it.
Doesn't close, notification remains active on Pixel with 7.1.1. I bought this app back when it was $50 and it worked OK back then. Now it doesn't seems like they keep it updated. Doesn't have any of the newer vehicles listed.
App works awesome for very low basic information you have to buy the app to see the codes and then to get the codes you have to buy your make of vehicle other than that great app would work better if it was a 1 time pay for certain vehicles
Bought a cheap Bluetooth obdreader for like ten bucks on Amazon and paired with this app I have an awesome way to interact with the car's computer for about twenty bucks. This app is by far the best I've tried and worth every penny.
The only snag its not working with android joying head units. Wish they update a fix for Bluetooth data port..
Not worth $10. I wanted to read codes. Could not connect my Edge7 to BMW. FRUSTRATED.
App design is very nice, but you have to pay $10 after 30m of use. Then you have to pay $10 per vehicle for specific codes. A bit excessive, IMHO.
Does so much. I want it Permanently on all my work trucks.
App works well for showing off to friends and diagnostics. However, I purchased the full version, yet, it won't let me use it even though I have proof of purchase in the Play Store. Help.
Very great app, very well done. My only dislike is that you can't really search for a dashboard skin, you can only scroll through recently made.
I would love to keep this running all the time, but it keeps crashing when I start my car. Let me know if you would like a crash report.
It has helped me solve some problems with my engine. I am still playing around with the features. Enjoying
My insterment cluster went out and this app works in its place and way more. Definitely worth the price for the abilities.
Would love a quit/exit option in the settings menu... Currently I swipe close, icon still shown in top left of screen...go to settings>apps and force close and the dang icon is still there :-(

I use this app for tuning car's disel trucks and it's easier to use then putting on a dyno and I've compared 7 dyno runs against this app there damn near all the same give or take 10 Hp! Add wind resistance and that's where your 10 hp Went! But you must scale weigh every vehicle and it's dead on!!
