About KidneyDiet

KidneyDiet®
Helping you watch the 3Ps.
Phosphorus. Potassium. Protein.
KidneyDiet helps people with kidney disease make better decisions about their diet.  If you are facing Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), you must become aware of the following in your diet:
Phosphorus
Potassium
Protein
Sodium
Fluids

If you have ESRD and have already started dialysis, your diet will be different than before you began dialysis, but you will still have to pay attention to how much you consume of these above-mentioned nutrients.

KidneyDiet gives you the ability to track and compare your daily intake of these nutrients to guidelines your nephrologist and nutritionist have set for you.

KidneyDiet can be used on-the-go making it easy to order in a cafeteria line, at the grocery store, or at an elegant restaurant. It’s difficult to remember which foods are better for you than others when following a renal diet. So, just scroll through the list or type an item into the search field and quickly determine the nutritional counts of a variety of foods.

Eat right. Enjoy life.

Note: Patients with hypertension, high blood pressure, or diabetes may benefit from the nutrient counts presented in this app.

Crap. Keeps crashing

Should allow easy editing instead of having to delete food entries and re entering. Email option does not work. Should allow me access to simply view my current nutritional amounts without having to add a food.

I was just put on the low potassium diet and I found a great app for looking up nutrients, but could not find one that tracked all of the nutrients. This app is great, just what I was looking for.

It is a great tool to keep track of the diet. Although it has an extensive number of items I wish there is a way to add those few items that are not.

Q70%

I have IGA kidney disease and this app is perfect for helping stay on track. Would be cool to be able to add foods that arent on the list though.

Q70%
by Q####:

The first 3 items I looked up weren't on the list: a strawberry! Ranch dressing! Costco muffin! These are pretty common food items. Now that I ate them, how do I add them? I know their nutrition content, why can't I add them in to my daily total? I'm not going to only eat the foods on your list! Without this option, the program is not valid or relevant.

It helps me to monitor all the foods that my son can eat. He has Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). And also is important to control also the calories consumption. Best purchase I have made in Android

Extremely helpful. Most food labels do not list potassium so this is a valuable tool!

I like this app, but it's missing a lot of basic things like regular brewed coffee, creamer and sugar. It would be awesome if they would add a bar scanner option. If not, then at least put more items in the food section. I did pay nearly five dollars for this app, please make it worth the money.

It's a great quick resource for checking the potassium and phosphorus content of my favorite foods.

Update: Allow user to input food items not found in database. Allow users to scroll backwards and recall prior days. Show averages for week and month. This app has nutrient values of Phosphorus, Potassium and Sodium for 1000 common foods found at the grocery and some fast food restaurants. It is not comprehensive nor does it allow you to add foods to the "Daily Diary" that are not already in the database; however, this app could be a lifesaver for some.

App shows nutrition content for foods avaliable in internal database but adding/editing new foods is nightmare. Its extremely bad to not provide any capability to safely backup your daily data. If you loose your phone or phone gets reset then you loose all data!!!!! Happens quite frequently to me :-( There is no export and import facility too bad :-( Wasted money. May be get i should make some time and build a better app.

I am a dialysis patient and I think this app is just awesome. It educates you, and records all the relevant info you need in terms of diet. I use it every day and am absolutely stoked about finding it. Yes, there are foods missing, and yes I think the fluids should just be in mls instead of fl oz, but it is by far the best one on the market. I have not experienced any technical problems with it so far. Can't wait to show my Nephrologist!

It would help if you could look at an item and go back to that item when done instead of always back to "A"

I downloaded this app on my phone because my bf is a kidney patient and takes dialysis 3 times a week. The hardest thing to do is get her to eat more so she can gain weight, which is so hard when there is so much she loves to eat, but cannot have. Hopefully, this app will be a great teacher for her to go by. I am already learning a lot:) Thanks, developers!

Okay now your stars are down to three. Give me a way to edit a food that I've added instead of having to delete and re-enter it. This is ridiculous. Also, when adding a new food/fluid put an automatic conversion factor in the app so that if I input 8 ounces of fluid it will automatically convert it to ml when I enter the number of portions. Do the same thing for converting ounces to grams. This is a useful app. It just needs some tweaking. Thanks for all your effort.

Helps you keep track of daily intske of Potassium & Phosphorus which is critical. Keeps track of fluid, calories, protien etc. More foods need to be added as a lot are missing however, it does have a ton of foods. This is why I rated it 4 star. Otherwise I would give it a 10.

This is a great start, but as others have suggested there is more that can be added. I would be willing to pay more for further development.

Needs more foods and more portion size options for each food. A bar code reader option that could be downloaded separately and import data to expand the database would make this awesome!

R70%

I have an excellent nutritionist, but I found the prospects of tracking all of the important aspects of dialysis confusing and, frankly, overwhelming. Just by chance I checked to see if there was a kidney diet app. The KidneyDiet app is awesome. Yes, it could use some expansion of foods, but the fact that I can enter my own foods is certainly a major help. My nephrologist was amazed when I showed him the app on my phone and was planning to download and recommend it too. Good going Pain Free Living. Just keep making it better!

The app could use a larger food database and bar code scanner

This is a great source of information for ESRD patients. $3 is a steal for this kind of program. I am having some problems with forced outages but that is all workable.

My Neph & dietician reccomended this app to me but I suprised them because I already had it (the old one). I am SO happy that we can now add foods. God bless you for your fantastic work!

Good resource. Could use more brand name foods.
