Light Pollution Map is the work of more than 1,000 combined hours of mapping the globe for the most accurate light pollution data available, anywhere. Better than free solutions found online, and conveniently installed on your Android device integrated with Google Maps and GPS technology. The map data is high resolution, accurate, and covers 90% of the globe.

"Light Pollution Map has really helped me to find the darkest locations in my region for night time photography. It's quick and simple to find and save the locations, and the accuracy is better than any other dark site finder I've found. Without it, I would never be able to capture such amazing images of the milky way." - Gregory A. Dunbar, EarthThroughTheLens.com

S70%
by S####:

If all it is supposed to do is show where light pollution is so we can find dark skies, why the hell does it need access to my contacts and photos? I'm sorry, but that sort of thing is an invasive permission. I would have rated 5 stars, but you're collecting data that is really none of your damn business. Now I'll be removing this app, you have no right to snoop into my personal files.

N70%
by N####:

This is a must have app for anyone interest in astronomy! Knowing the special dark sky spots in your area is so important and this is the tool to find them.

O70%
by O####:

Good does what's supposed to do

Y70%
by Y####:

Too low resolution. Needs to be way higher resolution like the website.

N70%
by N####:

Excellent service.....

N70%
by N####:

It would be nice if the user could turn the light pollution layer off the same way you can turn off cloud layer. That would make it easier to read the cloud layer (especially in high light pollution zones). Other than that, this is a fantastic app. I've successfully used it a couple times to see if I should drag the telescope out or not.

Y70%
by Y####:

I used the app for 30 seconds and hit "Buy" buttons about 6 times on accident. I couldn't even try the app without accidentally finding a Buy button.

N70%
by N####:

It's quite useful, but the Pro version features (even the bundle) are pretty expensive and without the Pro features it's one of those "okay, but uninstall" apps. Especially as to remove the annoying ads you have to buy the expensive bundle.

Not thrilled with the new colors. Also seems to have changed light levels in some places

N70%

Easy to use

W70%
by W####:

Easy to use and very intuitive. My only complaint would be that the app sometimes force closes and requires a restart. I'll also lose the particular area I'm viewing. Other than that, I love the app and is definitely helpful for my astrophotography sessions. The cloud cover mode is extremely helpful.

Q70%
by Q####:

Does what it says and a whole lot more. Especially love that it tells you the upcoming phases of the moon.

A70%
by A####:

Great app for astronomers planning astronomy viewing sites

N70%
by N####:

Nice app, but how often is LP data maps revised? For example, in UK over last 2-3 years many counties have gone to shielded LED streetlights. The difference where I am in Herts is amazing. They also switch off 90% of streetlights ftom midnight to 6am, but I guess thats more difficult to show on a map. Also, example, South Downs Park is now a International Dark Sky reserve, but still shows on high end of scale.

J70%
by J####:

Crashes as soon as it's opened. When it was simple format it had no problem with crashing. Fix the issues and I'll fix the rating

N70%
by N####:

It was a good app until the up date it used to show where dark sky's are now that map is gone or i don't seem to be able to find it i would prefer the old one
