About VICFires
This application is designed to provide up to date information about bush fire data in Victoria, Australia for users of Android devices.
It utilises data from the Victorian Country Fire Authority/Victorian Department of Sustainability data feeds on fires with your current location provided by the phone GPS.
Using this information the application is able to provide a list of fires showing the nearest ones first, helping you to understand your current situation.
The information is reliant on both the accuracy of the phone's GPS and the data recorded on the CFA's website.
This application does not cache any data, so Internet access (either Wireless. or 3G) is required to access the data.
Be aware that while P4G has utilised "best efforts" to provide this information to you, it is not intended to replace other sources of information on the fire situation near you. Also remember that fire and weather can change quickly.

What's Changed
We have added notifications to the app. We have done our best to make the notifications robust, but there are a lot of moving parts between the data feed and your device. If you force quit the applications notifications will stop, and closing apps by "swiping"on some devices will also stop notifications. Just re open the app and they should restart.
NB. that Warnings and Advice are currently missing. We expect them to come back, but we are dependent on a data feed that has been removed...

Hate the new app. The icons suck, the black sucks and its hard to read, give us an option to go back to the old white background and original icons. * WHY dont you port over the Apple IOS version to Android? That has settings and a lot of options which would make everyone happy. * Cant use it with the black and colored text so uninstalled until its returned to a readable state. * * * 1 star as i am forced to uninstall. Cant read it anymore so cant use it. Hopefully 1 day you port over the IOS version which has options to have it look like the app used to, good and readable. This android version is crap and youve made it worse with the last update.

I like the app, its all working good. Only thing is when your in map view it would help with a crosshair to say which fire your looking at. On a tablet its a guess as which it is especially today with lots of fires around. Other than that its perfect. Good job :) * oh, not a huge crosshair, just something small to say this is the fire your looking at. * and to anyone looking for a fire app this is heaps better than the crap fireready app.

It now works after uninstalling and rebooting phone then installing aigain. * nice to see the map button as that was needed. Now more details to the type of fire would make it 5 stars. * the map view needs to stop going back to your location after browsing a fires details. * and the wind arrows are all backwards pointing away from the wind not the right direction.

Very useful map that is fast and smooth to load and zoom around in, compared to official app that is slow and glitchy. I use official app for notifications only and this app to view map and check close fires. One problem I have is it locks the GPS on as soon as it opens and it stays on even if I change apps. I have to force close the app every time or it drains my battery fast. It should only use GPS when it first opens briefly until it gets a lock. This happens on several devices I have tested (even iPad)

Mucked around with the fire ready app for ten minutes for information on fire near me. Gave up payed my dollar under recommendation.Fire Came up straight away from GPS . Thanks maybe$1could save our lives.
