About Owlet (beta)

Welcome to our new app. We are still in public beta and would love your feedback. Drop us a line at contact@owletcare.com with any improvements you would like to see!

Owlet is designed to alert you if your baby stops breathing. It uses hospital technology, pulse oximetry, to monitor your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels as they sleep at night. Just place the Smart Sock on your little one’s foot before bed and Owlet is designed to send you alerts about their well being from the Owlet Base Station and your smartphone.

Use the app to view your baby’s live heart rate and oxygen levels and receive alerts about their well being. You can also adjust the Base Station alert volume, live chat with an Owlet expert, upload a new Wi-Fi network and catch up on your baby’s fun facts. Not to mention you can check in on your little one’s well being from the store, work or even across the world!

After hours of testing, we’ve found these devices to be compatible with the Owlet app:

Samsung S7 (SM-G930F)
Samsung S6 (SM-G920T)
Samsung S5 (SM-G900T)
Samsung S4
Samsung S4 Active (SGH-I537)
Samsung Note3 (SM-N900T)
HTC One A9
HTC 831C

These devices are compatible with the app, but have some minor glitches:
Samsung Core Prime (SM-G360T) - mass market device from Best Buy, Walmart, etc.
Samsung S3 (SCH-I535)
Motorola DROID RAZR M (XT907)

*Note: Not all devices are compatible with the Owlet app. We are continuously testing devices for compatibility and will update our list of compatible devices based on our findings.

Purchase of an Owlet is necessary to use the app. If you don’t have an Owlet, you can purchase one at https://store.owletcare.com/collections/owlet/products/owlet-vitals-monitor

The app is very slow to start, freezes all the time, and never provides alerts. The iPhone version is much better.

We bought this when our daughter was born 9 weeks early in march I highly recommend the owlet to any parent

Love the concept. It has helped me sleep knowing that my baby is being monitored. I get a lot of disconnect alarms and Im not sure why. I do wish that if a red alarm goes off, you have the ability to view what time and what the reason. The only time mine went off, I swiped my phone screen and it went away. I would also like to be able to view my baby's night, like all of the heart rates and o2 levels. I know the new one offers an app for pay, but I honestly feel it should be included.

Purchased this 2 weeks after our son was born this past March. Best investment we've made. Our first son was born 8 weeks early and a product like this wasn't around 8 years ago. We had many restless nights. This product has eased all worries. Haven't had any unwanted alarms or false ones. Love, love, love this product. Recommend to everyone. If you want peace of mind at night it's worth every penny!!!!!!

Amazing app! Our son stopped breathing one night, completely out of the blue. Doctors chucked it up to reflux, but we still needed peace of mind after that ordeal. All of us, including our son, can sleep easy now. We take it with him to the baby sitters and have even traveled with it. No problems. Used our phone as a mobile hotspot in the car to connect the monitor to while we on a road trip.

When we first used it, it wouldn't let me log into the app or connect to the base. I emailed customer service and they fixed it. We were using the left sock and constantly got false readings so we stopped using it for a bit, when we started using it again we switched to the right foot and haven't had any problems. I like the app update where I can turn on and off the base from my phone. The owlet gives me so much piece of mind for my little one! Totally worth the money!

*updated review. Whatever you all have done to try to correct the app, keep it up. Since the update, I've had a lot more success with the app. This is definitely a product and app I'd recommend. Love the monitor. Hate the app. The app is always disconnected even if my WiFi button is glowing. It's quite aggrevating, considering how much this product costs. The app is definitely something that needs to be corrected.

Dear Owlet, Why cant you be the fitbit for baby stat monitoring? What is holding you back? The sock, base station and app worked flawlessly for about 2 weeks. I loved the heart rate and O2 readings on my phone. Then, one night, the app stopped connecting to the base station and no more stats on the app. The base station seems to be working in that it pulses green but I hate that I can't see any calues in the app anymore. :( i was hoping the core app connectivity was 100% and upgrades would include nightly charts of heart and O2 levels, monthly summaries, etc. I would have loved for temperature readings as another possible enhancement. Instead, I just want the damn thing to work as advertised...

Terrible app. Update 5/26/17 now using LG V20, still terrible. Wish I didn't pay $250 to beta test this unfinished product. Constant base disconnections, my wifi is great, your app sucks. Still no heart rate or o2 level histogram either. Please fix this product & app.

I have loved this app. My daughter was born 8 weeks early and has been a constant worry. It was so nice to have the Owlet for monitoring when she came home from the NICU. She was sent home at 4lbs 4oz and did not need any monitoring equipment. I got used to having her oxygen levels and heart rate being constantly monitored while in the hospital. I think if I didn't have the Owlet for night time-- I wouldn't sleep. Since she was so small when she first came home it was really hard to get a good reading with the regular newborn sock. But now, they have developed a sock for preemies! One of the founders of the company came to our house personally and fitted the sock on my daughter. Ever since getting a sock that is the right fit we haven't had any connection problems. The app has been very useful and I haven't had any connection problems. I love that I can check on her without waking her up. It's really a necessary tool for any hover parent starter kit!

This is absolutely worth the money. My wife and I have been using this for about 4 months now and it has saved us from my son having SVT's at least 4 or 5 times when he was not showing signs of distress. Owlet had paid for itself within the first week. Solid communication platform between the app on out phones to the Owlet base.

No problems with the app, Galaxy s6. Anytime I've come across connectivity issues I've called late at night, spoke to a rep and it was immediately resolved. Used the sock since around 4 weeks. Love it and didn't get nervous when baby started sleeping through the night. No false alerts for us.

I haven't ran into any issues with the app or the monitor. One thing I wish I could do is set what an alarm for different values. I had one episode with my son when monitor flashed red and I went to him and he was hard to arouse. I recommend the monitor if you're wanting a little piece of mind.

Base is constantly saying it isn't connected, it says she's moving when she's not and today it deleted her all together... Needs essential improvements. 6/4/17 update, they made a bunch of corrections but here it is, Sunday night, I can't reset my password for the app despite frantic searching online and following multiple options for directions of how to do this.... Guess it's a sleepless night for me because "token is invalid"

I absolutely LOVE this product! My daughter is now 7 months and we have used it every night since the day she came home. There have only been a few times where things didn't run 100% but nothing so bad that it didn't provide us with peace of mind. We had moved and it took a few days for them to come switch the WIFI to our new location and the Owlet STILL worked! We couldn't use the app so we couldn't see the heart rate or oxygen stats, but the base station still did it's job. I am so grateful for Owlet even making something like this possible for families to have in our very own homes! THANK YOU OWLET!!!!!!!

by R####:

I want to like this product, as when it's working it's a great tool. However, there are frequent issues with the app connecting to the base, and the company seems unable to offer any advice beyond "unplug it to reset". This is ok for a laptop, not for a device that monitors our loved ones. For the exorbitant price of the product, it isn't asking too much for a working product. Owlet, please fix these issues. If you are unable to soon, I'll recommend a competing product product to our expecting friends.

I love this app and my Owlet monitor! The app allows me to sleep better knowing the alarm will let me know if something is wrong. We initially had trouble keeping the monitor on her foot, but once we started putting a sock over the monitor it stayed on all night.

Our baby has wow which causes her heart rate to spike up to 300. The owlet has given us peace of mind and it truly works she had an episode and when we got to the hospital it had the exact same reading!!! We love this owlet

Continues to say the base station is turned off. Not a good product for android. Waste of money....... Update 6-5-17- unit is still terrible. Glitches all the time. Do not buy this product!

R70%
by R####:

The idea behind this device is genius. It truly is. The only problem is that this company banked on the idea more than the execution itself........... which is unfortunate because now you go from a company that cares, to a company playing on people's fears. Shameful. We've had more false alarms than I can count. We're very careful and mindful when putting the sock on our daughter and yet we've been woken up too many times to count in 2 weeks due to every false alarm you can think of. The other day the sock wouldn't work for some reason. The app continued to tell us that the sock was charging, yet the sock had charged several hours before AND was disconnected from the base station. That went on for hours before it decided to work. The battery on this thing seems to have a short life. Something like my Fitbit, with the Heart Rate Monitor, can keep a charge for over a week, with continuous use, and yet we must charge the sock daily for a night's worth of use. I'm very disappointed with this product. How do you release a product with so much potential to really help parent's peace of mind and potentially save lives, but have so many bugs on its 2ND VERSION. I do not recommend this product to anybody.

This is the best thing ever. My daughter was born with an underdeveloped air way, so her air way partly collapses when she breaths. This sock had brought so much comfort to my husband and myself. I've had no issue with it at all. It works like it's supposed to without a glitch. I'd definitely recommend this other parents.

Been using this for 15mnths. This gives me such a huge piece of mind. Yeah the app may have glitches now and then, but their customer support is awesome. Highly recommend this to all my family and friends!

New Product With New Sock. Update. I took back the 4 stars. With the new sock I can put it on under ten seconds. The problem is now it no longer alerts "in a moments notice." I took off the sock and three minutes later it told me it had been diconnected - no good.

R70%
by R####:

The technology is fantastic and I highly recommend device. The app itself is very buggy and the options for data from the device leave a lot to be desired. Nevertheless I think this was a great purchase and would not be getting as much sleep without it.

R70%
by R####:

It's horrible for new borns, we got false readings nightly! But since we moved baby to her crib at 3 months its been working flawlessly. It gives us peace of mind!

R70%
by R####:

Absolutely amazing product and their customer service is incredible. I have been using the Owlet for 7 months every single night and nap with minimal issues. I don't understand all these negative reviews. Have none of you contacted their customer service team? If I experience any hiccups, I message their technical support and within seconds I'm communicating with a live person and there has not been a single issue that has not been resolved by their techs. Makes me think it's user error with others. It can be a misplaced sock, wi-fi sucks, base too far, crappy phone coverage, another person interfering with the frequencies... Either way, their tech team will fix the issue by helping you until it's resolved or even sending you a replacement. I have even upgraded to the new Owlet unit that just came out and absolutely love this one even more than the original. Amazing product that took away so much anxiety and gave us our sleep back.

Gives us so much peace of mind at night. I sleep so much better now that I figured it out. The product is easy to use but the app was challenging to install at first.

Easy to use and gives peace of mind while my baby is sleeping- especially when she started sleeping longer stretches. No more panicking as long as the green light is on!

R70%

I love my owlet. Sonetimes the app has trouble connecting but other than that I love knowing my baby is safe and if she wasn't I would be alerted.

App used to work just fine now all of a sudden I cannot even get it to launch. Will reconsider my rating when the app works as promised

Works perfectly with my galaxy s7 and love the peace of mind. Only down or disconnected once when they were updating.

Bought this a few months ago as I am a very paranoid mommy... this has completely put my mind at ease and I've gotten countless more hours of sleep at night! I know when I'm sleeping and can't constantly be watching my daughter breathe... this monitor is keeping an eye on her... there is nothing more comforting than That! I haven't had too many issues with the app.. sometimes it disconnects from the base station but I always get it up and running again! Completely worth every single penny! I would recommend this to all moms! Thank you owlet!!

Amazing! Baby was in the NICU for 2 weeks. Ordered the owlet for when we came home and it was wonderful to have to monitor our baby. Awesome product.

R70%
by R####:

The tech seems good but the app just randomly logs you out and forces you to go through the whole setup process repeatably. Very annoying to have planned on a nap when instead you have to reinstall this app.
