La música latinoamericana en su concepto más general se refiere a los bailes y músicas populares que tienen como origen América Latina pero como ya habíamos mencionado existen diversos estilos de música en los cuales en menor o mayor grado se palpa la influencia de la música europea, africano o indígena, en cuanto a este punto en particular muchos expertos han escrito diferentes posturas, una de esas posturas decía que la música latina está privada de la influencia africana, otros que es puramente africana y que carece de influencia indígena o europea, pero en la actualidad se llega a un acuerdo, de que los ritmos latinos con sincréticos, es decir una perfecta fusión de los diferentes ritmos que tuvo presencia en América Latina.
