Oxford Advanced Learner's Dict for Android
I think I am in a position to complain about this because I paid my money to buy the full version. However, there is no thesaurus like the previous version. This comes to my conclusion to give you only 1 star.
I would have ranked it five-starred if thesaurus and the option for addition of notes by the users to 'favourite' words had been provided with! Another shortcoming is the lacking of synchronisation of the 'favourite' folders that leaves users really in a buffling situation while using two or more devices. Favourite words marked in one device do not get updated by itself on the other/(s). This is really preposterous! Hope the authority would address these issues to justify the value for money for this dictionary and maintain its long-standing reputation and well-earned esteem.
I have tried to purchase paying Rs 1700 many times but every time there appeared a pop-up displaying " CORRECT YOUR CARD INFO OR TRY A DIFFERENT CARD". I tried using two other cards but failed. Could anyone tell me the the reason, please?
Are you serious? 24$ to upgrade? I don't think so, I can buy a dictionary way less than that! Besides I do have Google!
No option is offered to migrate the favourites lists from the 8th. This is very painful. Please step back, understand user experience and provide a solution to it otherwise the 8th cannot be removed from the device. i.e. a significant migration barrier and concern for the users that would like to keep the favourites list.
For the money I paid, I wish it was integrated with Android Galaxy browser so I could tap on a word and have OALD popped up. Overal, it's OK . I don't recommend it though. You better off go with free app dictionary with ads .
In OALD8, we can add words to the favorite list, which is empty when the application is first installed. In OALD 9 , the favorite list is "polluted" by some useless folder . Please bring back the old favorite list.
The all is free to install, but when you try to use it, it just prompts you to buy the dictionary. One star for misleading people.
Worst app. You can not search a single word. If you search any word it would suggest to purchase the full version by paying ₹1700.
Don't install just wastage of MBs not an offline dictionary , asks for purchasing it before getting results. Very costly in-app purchase.
Post installation I got to understand that I need to buy the complete version for 1700..... Now that's awful! Super crappy!
It would be nic if you allow poor and slow learners to activate the professional versions using promo codes of the real dictionary.......and as others say don't hesitate to upgrade.......
Still there is no cloud sync as I expected from the new app. It is not available in OALD 8 too. Why should I upgrade? All favorites and starred words stay with the device only. Once your mobile with this app is lost or reset, your knowledge is also Lost.
It does the job of an expected dictionary. But it could do more if thesaurus is added to it. Hope it will be added. Moreover, I couldn't find some words. Eg: solatium
Other version of dictionaries gives us words for free and have every quality of info we need without asking for any debt
If the OALD is for sale, call it so. PAID. Stop marking it as FREE only for one to install and be asked to purchase to search for a word. This is disappointing Oxford. Be truthful.
It just have some words for free. The rest u have to pay. Waste my time.
OAL Dictionary is 1 best dictionary i came across im my life but its never free. So it doesn't make sense for bieng one best dictionary.
Search function is the best of all. But, many idiomatic expressions come without sample sentences. It's quite expensive too, compared to the paper version.
They are cheating. Once you will install this dictionary and search any word they will say to buy resource.
İt's just Oxford English Dictionary not Advanced learner's dictionary. Add thesauruses back.
this is not a free dictionary. u can look for only a few words otherwise you jave to pay a big amount for ful version ₹1700 paperback version is around ₹350. being an electronic version it ia much expensive ... just keep this dictionary to your self. i guess your intentions are to make money not to provide knowledge.
I have purchased OALD(A-Z+Audio). Still miss one thing, the favorite words cannot be synchronised across devices.
You said free and now you're again asking for purchase. We are of the third world and we need your assistance. Free should be free.
I purchased this app and get installed on old mobile.now I changed my mobile. How can I re activate on new mobile
Useless. Why on earth you said it s free but then it doesn't work unless we upgrade it and pay that lot of money
on "gloat" definition, it showed that its synonym is "crow". but it showed the noun of "crow", instead of its verb form, what actually is the correct synonym of "gloat".
Also, I bought the printed OALD 9th edition last year. I have this redeem code thing that allows me to have a premium access to OALD site. Cant i also use the code to this app???
Very useless, since I can't use it until I buy it. In fact I regret downloading and installing it in the first place.
Worse than 8th edition. Why did you remove thesaurus? We have it in the 8th edition. Add thesaurus add thesaurus..
The download is free and then to look for a word is 29.99$
The upgrade from 8 to 9 was worth it. I recommend it to my students. It would be more engaging for learners to have a word of the day feature. An integrated thesaurus add-on would make this the perfect learner's tool.
Some time can't find the similar word normally start from X, Y, Z but every thing is perfect...
It's a very good app, very useful a sinmple but some functions are lacking.
The app is unable to use at all and only required to update with too expensive price.
I did not like it they r asking to restore the purchase
What the hell is this???? There are dozens of apps availablenon the playstore that are giving the meanings of words for free! Such a stupid app this is! And i must say its creators as well! 2550 Rs. Just for a stupid app?? I can purchase a hard copy in less than 2550 Rs.....
Idiom and phrasal verb, example part in every word has gone! (i have a full version) It was there some days ago. Fix it please
Very misleading. Free to install, but you have to pay $27.99 to see a definition.

When ever I try to search any word, its says you cannot search need to buy and upgrade free edition, download OALD 8 also while having version 9. Totally crap. OALD for iOS didn't show such crap and always worked fine. Moreover the interface is not really great and user-friendly. Overall the app sucks big time so uninstalling as it isn't even worth to use free and purchased version .
