I've tried ViewRanger, Onyx Hunt, Locus, Backcountry Navigator and many other apps and in the last 5 years this has become my go to app for replacing my Garmin gps. I have added so many online map sources (url's) that I almost have too many (US Forest Service, Satellite imaging, Land Ownership boundaries etc.). I downloaded the Garmin 100k topo for the entire US to my SD card and no matter where I go I have an offline map. I've imported all my waypoints and tracks from my Garmin handheld. + much more!

You can use all the best Internet maps either online or offline - Google (maps, satellite, terrain), Open Street Maps, NOAA Nautical Charts, USGS Topo, Caltopo, Aviation Maps, ESRI, OpenCycleMap, various open trail maps, and tons more. You can layer maps such as adding contours or hill shading. You can create and follow tracks. The downside is that all this versatility is available because you are not in a closed ecosystem and it requires you to take time to learn how set up the map sources file.

Amazed how passionate developers can be to deliver such a gerat app for free! Locus and other competitors are so much more oriented into marketing. Definitely worth donating! (Recommended upgrades: better support for geocaches especially import PQs as gpx with all the info and better file viewer to find tracks etc. We will have workshop about the app at local mtb club.

I recently finished a big trip by bike: Madrid-Groningen (north of The Netherlands). I used my phone during all the 22 days to orientate myself. This app allowed me to find my best routes (using amazing included online maps as the cycle map or the orthophoto and importing some routes from Wikiloq). Thanks to the tool to download maps that is included, I have been able to download maps when I had Wi-Fi and navigate offline. Thanks a lot to the amazing developer!

Can't view tracking calculations when GPS is disabled. Half the app just shuts down for no reason. There are sensor data we want to see even when GPS is off, because we may know where we are and want to save power.
