✓ Readout for all the sensors on your device (think Tricorder - but real!)
✓ Widgets for temperature, magnetic, light, humidity and pressure sensors (if you have them)
✓ Save all data to CSV - play with it however you like
✓ Map of readings of other users and of your own, see averages within each map window, click on icons to see full readout
✓ Manual reports
✓ Tons of graphs (for geeks like us :))
✓ Contribute to our maps (you can turn off sharing in settings)
✓ Share data to help us improve the weather forecast
✓ Looks great on tablets

Turn your device into a thermometer, barometer, lightmeter and hygrometer - depending on which sensors your device has - with this app your phone is a mobile science kit!

*Thermometer readings are experimental!*

*** This app is experimental! Individual TEMPERATURE readings may be incorrect, but when averaged over many users we get reliable information for our community powered maps. ***

The app works best on the Galaxy S4 since it has the most sensors. Get a StormTag to add sensors to your phone.

The WeatherSignal app can measure:
✓ Pressure (certain devices only)
✓ Temperature (see note)
✓ Light Intensity
✓ Humidity (Galaxy S4 only)
✓ Magnetic Flux
✓ Acceleration (turn on in application settings)

This app features Google's Activity Recognition: monitor when you're walking, in vehicle, on a bicycle. Save the results to CSV and perform your own analysis/create maps, for example for quantified self.

*** TEMPERATURE ***

We’ve come up with an algorithm that translates battery temperature into ambient temperature – making your phone a thermometer. For each user this is approximate but there is a very strong correlation between battery and ambient temperature when spread over a crowd of users. If you are using a cell phone without an external thermometer then the temperature reading you’ll see is a battery temperature reading converted through our algorithm. Often the algorithm will get it wrong, but we've shown that with appropriate averaging and filtering, these readings correlate extremely well with external ambient air temperature.

The Galaxy S4, which has an ambient air temperature thermometer, may produce incorrect readings if the phone is hot due to use.

*** PRESSURE ****

Devices that contain barometers include:

Galaxy Nexus
Galaxy S3, S4, Note (1,2,3)
Nexus 4
Nexus 10
Xoom
RAZR MAXX HD
Xiaomi MI-2

Units available:
millibars/hPa inches of mercury aka Hg or inches H
centigrade/celsius and Fahrenheit

It's a good idea ???? but it still needs major work on the algorithm being used. The current algorithm being used is awful. A few degrees off I can understand. But I can guess the temperature myself and get closer to the actual temperature outside then this app can. The other weather apps I have tried and currently use give better temperature readings then this app.

Great app guys! I read in the FAQ about how tricky it can be for the app to distinguish between its being indoors/outdoors. So far it is having that difficulty on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or SGN3, Android-5) and at my very tropical Abuja (Nigeria). Some times it even gets a data trend wrong (i.e. saying there's been a drop in air pressure over time, when the opposite is the case). I'd like to know what else I can do from my end to help the app apart from submitting more weather data captured. My SGN3 has the following sensors: - hygrometer - barometer - thermometer - accelerometer - photometer - gyrometer - magnetometer Thanks.

I like it getting weather on the spot and across hundreds of spots nearby! It will only get more accurate and useful as more peeps join and the app further develops. Join in - its part of a great future.

The app hasn't been updated since June of 2014 - more than 2 years ago. If you've stopped developing the app, I'd like to know. I try to send reports daily but I'm a little tired of the "welcome messages". How about some new ones? And your algorithms haven't gotten much better over the years. The temperature is always way off.

1 star for existing. 2 stars for crowd-sourcing. 3 stars for neat tools like light flux and magnetic flux. 4 stars for use-easiness. I am reserving the fifth star for something stellar, but I don't know what it is.

I like this real time weather reporting. Temperatures aren't 100% accurate but it is usually pretty close. Nice to see so many people reporting their current conditions in my area and more places.

Y70%
by Y####:

A little innacurate when all others show 19 degrees. Also the map feature is scary. You can perfectly track people.

Y70%
by Y####:

I suggest that from 2015 to replace the phone temperature (which cannot be accurate even improved by your algorithm) with the temperature from StormTag Bluetooth Weather Station. So, only people who buy StormTag, to contribute with the temperature to the weather map. You can put a link for people to preorder StormTag.

As a Brit,we like nothing more than discussing the weather. So this is a great app for getting everything you need for pub quiz etc.

Y70%

Tends to use too much resources. ..If that could be sorted it would get 5 stars. ..not an app for novices really

Y70%
by Y####:

had this for about a month now and it worked for the first couple of week. Apparently, I was the only one reporting from my country, but past week it hasn't uploaded any report so ya it's now as good as a sensor detector. Even "force upload" doesn't work. I don't think there's a way to restore data so i can reinstall and check again so it's buggy. And i don't want the graphs deleted. a fix and ability to restore data maybe???? EDIT: Last update:2014, and Top developer???

Y70%
by Y####:

Provides and insight into local conditions but also displays various sensor readings on one screen; not something normally available

Y70%
by Y####:

Way more accurate than the general apps. The readings are from my own phone and blended with readings from others who share in my area. The rate of collecting data can be adjusted so it won't use too much battery. All in all a good app, and one where we can help each other by sharing our temperatures. Good to see the developers are actively improving it as well.

by W####:

I've never used the "add details". Seems to me that having more attribute checkboxes would be more useful. I was hoping that this would be more like Waze but very few people are using this app in my area. Possibly because the temperature is not even close. Recommend having a dedicated text box to enter actual temperature as part of the submission.

Used often on my Galaxy Note 3 and enjoyed app. Temp readings were often accurate and used often to see indoor readings of temp & humidity. However, I recently upgraded to the Note 4 and the humidity reading is no longer available, which seems odd. That is the one reading I truly use this app for... I read it depends on equipment what will display, but Now disappointed.

K70%

The temperature reading is always wrong 15 - 20 degrees too low. If you can't get that right what good is it. This application work great on Samsung Galaxy 4 but not on 5. Months ago I sent feedback and was advised to continue using it even though it was bad because they would debugging with that info. Guess they didn't figure it out.

U70%

May be missing something, but doesn't show the weather like normal apps. Just what's happening at time of view. Also what does each coloured balloon mean?

G70%

I subtracted some points Due to 1 function. What is Mag flux. This is something I have never seen in a weather report before. Is there a help function so I could better understand. I find this mildly annoying. Most everything else is above average but this 1 part keeps me from fully enjoying it. 3.5 is my score.

The concept of this app is beyond amazing but my galaxy s5 doesn't contain a temperature sensor. Since my phone fails I get inaccurate temp readings. Most times this app is within 5 - 10°F which is amazing beings it reads the battery temp and converts it then aggregates it with other users' readings. Keep up the great work!

All the temperatures seem wrong compared to our other monitoring systems

M70%

Tells me it's minus 18 degrees centigrade. If a weather app is inaccurate it's pointless. Il stick to weather timeline which works and looks perfect.

however, the widgets don't work at all on my s3.

There need possibility manual reported anout current temperature and so on. I jave a weather station at home, but cannot send correct local temp, because there is not a correction option on this app... Also eat too much battery -30 petcent. Uninstall.

Beautiful app but no relation between the temperature it shows and real life.

New note 5 appaled at lack of sensors dunno if it's phone or app. If it's phone then 4 stars.. explanation of how mag Flux is relavent to weather be nice.

Great concept. But temperature readings are way off. Said it was 70 and the real temp is 29 Blu Studio x

What do the reports do aside from going into a black hole? More effort should be given to explain how data is used.

Barometer never changes. Found its not using internal barometer like most others. "DS Barometer" is the only app I have found to actually measure internal barometer changes.

K70%

I like the idea but needs alot of work look at weatherbug for android needs that polished look and feel for now this app dont have it will play with it more and look forward to future updates to the app

K70%
by K####:

I like the idea, but the app is not going to be of use when it needs GPS on from everyone. Why not let people set their own location. Also people calling this accurate, the readings are read from a sensor on your device, it IS going to be mostly ACCURATE. I don't see why I cant just use a device sensor app to check my temperature and humidity. And your website doesn't work. ㄟ(ツ)ㄏ

K70%
by K####:

Gives current local temp and pressure info offers a trend of the sensors over multiple time bases. I do like it and I like the idea of it, but confess to not really using it. When the sensors jump about its disappointing but you can't really help that.
