Ooma Home Security for Android
I had to restart my modem and router the other day and I now have a red screen where you would normally swipe to switch modes. Saying your telo is offline when its not offline. I tried restarting my phone that did nothing than I uninstalled the app and reinstalled still nothing. I now have to go into modes to change anything. Super annoying!
Sensors are easy to install and seem to work well, however this app still needs a fair bit of work: 1) Phone call notifications do not work at all for me, tried several different numbers. SMS and email notifications work fine, however these are unlikely to wake me up at night if something is happening. 2) Currently no good way to override the Mode schedule. If I go away for the weekend, I need to be able to manually set the mode to "Away" and have it stay that way until I return. Currently it just keeps cycling through the regular scheduled modes each day. 3) Smart location-based mode setting would be a really good feature: If my phone is connected to my home wireless network, Ooma should automatically enable "Home" or "Night" mode, if not then go to "Away" mode. 4) Notifications should not be sent when a mode changes for sensors that haven't changed states. I do not need a text/email saying that my garage has stayed closed since the last mode change.
I purchased the starter 3 pack and figured I would try out on 1 door. Well, after pairing within 10 ft of a Telo, which worked fine, I went to install on a door that was more than 10 feet away. Well, it has remained in OPEN mode all day with no way to reset via the app. The connection seems to be fine, just not to the magnet... I also have the heavy adhesive tape on it, so now I fear I will need to rip it off my door and have to refinish just to reset and pair. BUT, the problem is the app, not the pairing or install (within 1/4".) Hey Ooma, do you want to assist or do I just return all of this ??? I will re-rate after this is solved...or not.
I have this nebulous feeling it could be better but not sure how yet. I would like a desktop portal, however. Overall saving hundreds on paying a company to do all this. Keep up the innovation.
App is fair, but needs an option to disable the constant "mode change" notifications (not useful), and ideally a way to geforce home and away mode so that it automatically sets to away once you leave with your phone
This app would be MUCH BETTER if it allowed the user to disable mode change notifications while still allowing sensor notifications to go through.
Once again works with Android Kit Kat OS! Now its 5 stars!
Crashes constantly
It is a decent app but has room for improvement. It is quite flexible in how you can configure each sensor. I had to pair the sensors EXACTLY as laid out in the directions or they wouldn't pair. Here are the improvements that would make it much more pleasant to use: 1. Ability to turn off notifications when it switches modes. I don't it need to continually tell me it is doing what I told it to do. 2. Ability to temporarily block alerts from a given sensor instead of ALL sensors.
Cannot get into the app without providing the necessary of a cellphone carrier. Problem is that my carrier is not listed. Update: the developer contacted me to let me know that my carrier will be listed in the next update and that in the meantime I should select any other carrier. Once in the app it was easy to setup the device. The app works well for its intended purpose
The mobile app is only good for changing modes. It crashes any time you try to add a new contact from your contact list. There is no way to edit contacts once added. The app s completely useless in guiding you through the process of pairing new sensors.
Set mine up fine and paired right away. The app did crash a few times when I was adding contacts but when I reopened I could continue setting up. Have only a door and motion sensor setup so far. Seems to work as described.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 with AT&T. Everything worked as advertised although set up was not super intuitive. So far so good (one week into the program).
Update: Reinstalled app and offline push notifications have stopped. Now I can at least use it. Original: Constantly get push notifications that say home monitoring on your telo is offline, then one minute later get message saying it is online again.
I am very unhappy with your Home Security App. I ordered 10 sensors, Telo and Linx with the idea I would be able tp provide a full security system while at the same time receive great telephone service/options. First problem with the App is I can not delete a contact. If I try to update a contact it does not work as expected and as a result I have 3 contacts that receive a ring when a sensor is opened. There is no delete for any of the three contact levels - phone, sms or email. My wife is tired of the SMS messages but I can not remove her from the list. Second, I was able to pair only one sensor even with the premium service. If I try to pair a second sensor all it does is display a circling icon and then times out after a long period. I have tried to unpair the one sensor but also fails. The sensor icon just wiggles then times out. Update - The App is working better, the delete information was on the OOMA Form and it works, just not that intuitive to swipe left. The reboot process did not solve the paring issue but after 3 days Support did resolve the issue. All seems to work as expected now.
Pretty easy to setup and use. Detect and notify reliably 100% so far. Cannot add contact for notification. Otherwise 5 stars. iPhone version does not have the same issue.
I like it, works pretty well but did take a few tries to pair it initially, after that no issues with the current version of the app.
Pretty great overall. Issue with push notifications was handled and resolved promptly via support.
CRASHED ON FIRST TIME USE. Why would anyone buy sensors for this if it doesn't work? Ooma, you had better work on coding rather than slick marketing......
It is okay but I don't see how to let it know that I am home and do not need to know that I am being detected. Should be away of disarming when home.
Crashed 3 time in a row and never got it to run.

Works as advertised except one annoying problem on Pixel XL with latest Android Nougat. When editing the contacts for notifications, if you touch add contact, your Android contacts open but there is no way to select one. Touching the contract just takes you to the screen to edit the contact rather than select it for Ooma notifications.
