Biggest pile of rubbish like the AVR firmware. Amazing how a simple TCP connection can be screwed up by a bunch of amateur coders. No consistency to the problems: timeouts, unable to find receiver, connections not being made even though receiver can be seen. Lucky dip every time you start the app. Sometimes even have to unplug AVR to get it to connect again. WTF!! Testing obviously a dirty word for these developers. Crazy think they don't dont seem to learn with each release. Definitely wish i had bought another brand of receiver.

Q70%

All you have to do is reserve a static IP on your router for your onkyo receiver and it will not lose connection with the app. Static IP is the answer to your connection problems.

Update: App fails to find receiver anymore. Used to work better than nothing. Utterly useless now.

Is Onkyo ever going to fix this app so it works with TX636 receiver ?? This app only works about 10% of the time?? FIX THIS ASAP !! BEEN HAVING ISSUES FOR YEARS !!

Totally rubbish , it just will not connect to the amp it finds it but nothing else I've tried everything changing settings and so on but nothing . Onkyo you really need to sort this

Q70%

Ugly app, but it worked...until 5.1.1. I'm really surprised Onkyo have never updated this app, ever. Now it appears to be broken as of 5.1.1, stock Android, Nexus 5. On par with their receivers. I will not be replacing with Onkyo, sorry guys and gals. :|

I thought this app stopped working after an android update like many people report. However it turned out to be a fault with the network port on the HDMI board of the receiver. Fault fixed and the app is working again so I am very happy. The app is great; it does almost everything I need it to

Playing my music collection on my Galaxy s6 through my TX-NR609 is just the best thing. My only gripe and it is only a small one is, when you look through your music collection (400 albums) it always starts at the beginning when you press the back button. I'd much rather be able to carry on scrolling where you was at if you get my meaning. ♥♥♥♥♥ Just bought the tx-nr656 and the app doesn't work at all. Hope you get this sorted soon.

WTF!! Why can't you have a working app that works all the time... This thing works when It wants then stops, now this thing won't start up. Im 95% this is the worst app I've used and wish I could find something else to work with your products. I know ill never buy onyko product again and will spend the extra money on a company that have full support of their product. BTW does anyone know an app that works

This app has constantly progressed and matured over the years. Every suggestion or problem that i have had, was resolved. Great job to the developers. Keep it up!

Please ADD the SLEEP functionality to the app. And additional a function like "switch off after 10 minutes when smartphone not anymore connected or out of wlan"

Check and see if the firmware on your AV Receiver needs upgraded.

Enjoying immensely the remote and found it extremely practical and easy to use. However, I would like to see the app being improved with capability of RDS while listening the radio and to see on my actual screen the logo of the radio, the show that is on and so on. That will be

I am appalled at the complete lack of effort onkyo has put into this app. Looks like my next receiver won't be onkyo.

I'm using this app with a TX-NR828 and it works just fine. Controls Zone 2 like a dream. Great if you want to listen to Sirius or Spotify in the backyard on outdoor speakers. Many parameters can be controlled too. As long as your receiver and phone are connected to the same WiFi, you shouldn't have a connection issue. I never have. Just one complaint... Loading net content takes a few minutes to load initially. Wish Onkyo would look into this. It shouldn't take that long to load. 5 stars if they fix that.

Z70%
by Z####:

Needs to support more streaming services like Google Music; Spotify support is missing functionality only allowing you to search or play a playlist you saved (would be great if would support spotify connect so the spotify app could be used to control the receiver). Could use a firmware update to the TX-NR509. Having to continually restart the receiver because the receiver firmware keeps locking up and stops responding to controls from the app.

Is there a way we can make the code open-source? Software always progresses so much faster if the community can drive it. Simple things that irritates me: when using the network to play music. When pressing the back button to see more music the list starts at the top again... So I have to scroll to the last folder where I was. No timer settings on the app. No sleep. No advanced settings.......

The first release of this app was terrible, years later and a few updates and I find myself using this app more and more. Only looses one star for the severely outdated design. Get in touch onkyo, I'll design a new skin for you.

Had to change my opinion, this app was working great with my HTC n tx636 Now it's crap... Revert to the previous version n I'd change my opinion

Connects to TX-8050, but only controls volume and source. Older versions worked fine, but now it is not possible to select network stations or tune to different FM stations.

I agree 100% with Tim Freail, it's like playing a game of Onkyo Lottery, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes you have to uninstall them reinstall, sometimes you have to unplug the receiver then power back up but mainly you just give up and just use a 3rd party app that does it better than Onkyo themselves. This on the back of having to have my 2 year old amp repaired following the common hdmi board failure......onkyo you really need to up your game, back to Yamaha for me in the future!!!!!

It works now that I updated firmware. .. this controls the volume and Spotify controls the music. ...it's great! !!

Used to crash pretty often, but after a couple updates it works well kind of slow to changed sources, but everything else is nice. I can turn on my patio speakers on and select a source, and control the volume without walking into the basement where the receiver is located.

I'm happy with this app because I do everything with my phone. From emails to turning on my house lights, and now control the music in the main room and then zone 1 and zone 2 without moving the IR remote out of the main room. LOVE IT. I WILL LOVE TO SEE THIS WORK OUTSIDE THE LOCAL NETWORK. I travel alot. I would like to set alarms through the app to have the music played as if I'm home, or just to be able to turn on my receiver when I'm away . I have been robbed before so it feature would be nice.

L70%
by L####:

I used to be pleased with this app...although I don't use it very often. But now, it says it can't find my receiver. I also tried the Integra app...same results...uninstalled both. I don't know what was going on before but it's working great now...thanks, Onkyo.

Never use spirit connect while playing! You're likely to blow your speakers or eardrums. It takes at least 3 seconds to pause or change volume from app and when you initially connect with Spotify (only while playing) volume is at 100%. Blew two speakers before remembering this problem! Doesn't matter what your volume is when you connect!

Can you get this to be compatible with amazon ' s echo? That would be great!!
