Onkyo Controller for Android
Love it. Works perfectly with the nr656 receiver.
The app has stopped recognizing my tx-nr656. I reinstalled the app several times, reset my router, tried deferent IPs but nothing is working.Seriously, what is going so wrong? And the last update did not solve anything.
Not sure why such the poor reviews for this app. Remote works extremely well on my NR555. Very handy to have, and much more convenient then the physical remote.
This app worked awesome the first time that I installed it and I loved all of the features on the app. I especially liked the control of the Zone 2 speakers. But the second day I had it I was no longer able to connect to my receiver anymore. Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times on multiple Android devices with no success. Had to uninstall it and give up. I am hoping that it will be updated and work again since I did really like it.
This app UX is terrible! how hard is it to create a decent app? You have to change the VOLUME BAR to a NORMAL SIZE -+ buttons. Then the TV DVD etc... ICONS to normal icons and not grey blue no grey! God you have a lot to learn from Pioneer and Yamaha! The only good thing in this app is the remote
To all the people that cannot connect after a while: Turn off network standby in settings, then turn off the amplifier/ pull the wall plug. Turn on the amplifier. Problem fixed.
Used to work just fine but at some point it stopped working and I've tried unsuccesfully to reinstall on multiple devices. Nothing has changed in my network or with my receiver, just the app stopped finding my Onkyo receiver.
Good app but since last update it sometimes loose connection with my NR555 receiver. I need to close and reopen the app several times before connect again. Please solve the issue.
It worked perfectly until I left for a week and came back. Seems an update came out and now I have no connection to my new receiver. Shame, this one a key feature to have.
In case you can't connect to your receiver anymore where previously you could, then check the ONKYO product page and see whether there's an updated firmware released for your receiver. If there is, then go ahead and update and try this app again. Worked for me.
Will not connect to amp but old app connects fine. Useless
Doesn't work with TX NR3030, and old controller app stopped connecting :(
Nice app! But it would be even cooler with a widget (on/off, fav. Source, vol+-) :) Works with my tx-rz810.
Awesome app. Works great. Maybe some of the complainers on here need to learn more about technology. Love it.
I'm unable to connect to my new receiver
Stopped working. Don't find receiver. :(
This app does what it suppose to do
Works as expected
Really like it but interface could be more native: hard to find current playlist (while playing from media server), play interruptions when missclicking on input device.
I have the TX-8270 stereo receiver 2017 model. The app does not detect the receiver until I search by specific address. You can't adjust volume up or down! Then what's the point of having the remote control app?
Half the time it just doesn't work to send anything from a phone to it. Hours of messing around to get it to do what you want. Not used friendly. I do not recommend, and would not buy it if I knew it was like this.
Thats why the Japanese is dying, not fixing the problem, not listening to the world. This app is suck, the not user-friendly UI. Also can't find my receiver most of the time, and use my smartphone as sources always in endless connecting.
Coming from Denon/ marantz this app is way better . Overall it plays nice . I haven't noticed any problems . The negative reviews are rather strange . Anyway it is a good app , sure it can be better
Good when it works. Works 10% of the time. Turrible
Works perfectly with L20D. User interface is dull and probably designed for engineers, not for humans.
Use it for a TX-NR656 and it works fine.
Cannot understand the Onkyo attitude. Found this app with finally added manual IP insert but with no support for TX-8150 model. The old app version supporting it was not updated since 09/2016 and is currently dysfunctional. Does it mean I should go for a new device model or completely change the vendor?
So far so good with new receiver. I'm testing various components in anticipation of new whole home distributed audio but now think I'll likely just use fireamp, after seeing some of the functionality. My only complaint is the lack of support for landscape mode. We're using mounted tablets for home automation and total control. Thankfully there is an app to force orientation but would be nice if Onkyo designed natively.
Used to work very well, and now all of a sudden (like all of the numerous complaints) doesn't recognize the receiver at all. Obviously Onkyo doesn't seem at all concerned about fixing this known issue. First and last time ever use Onkyo products.
Use to work well and now doesn't. This is the worst app in have ever seen. No idea why they will not fix it since everyone seems to have the same issue. Very bad product.
Must update firmware on receiver to get it to work. Just did and got it to work after a month of being bummed out that it stopped working. Best way to control zone 2. Factory remote sucks.
This app sucks. The original onyko app performed much better. I can't change bass or trebel on zone 2 with this current version. I don't like the layout or functionality of this new version. Go back to the original version!
Can't you just have one app? Does not work with tx-nr626, despite what some reviewers say. Yes, they say only 2016 and newer. Why have a new app every few years which abandons every unit older than that year. Current app for my model is buggy, frequently can't find the unit, and not polished and you make a new, incompatible one? BS. My model has network support so no reason not to support it. Not buying onkyo again.
Worked great yesterday. Now not working woth My Smartphone option in NET. It's simply not connecting. Says "Connecting,,," forever. What a shame. Please Onkyo fix this thing!!
These app is terrible. Works fine for a few weeks. Then one day it will no longer connect to the receiver.
Intuitive, I think not! I have a TX-nr757 and I see very few functions of a real remote. Give me what my original remote has!
Used to be decent, now app often doesn't respond and very glitchy at best. Not reliable whatsoever
Constantly have to manually connect by entering IP address of receiver and then the P.O.S. still loses communication. FIX IT PLEASE
Really hard to switch inputs (eg to Bluetooth, HDMI, or aux)
