FourTracks Lite

This could have been an awesome app. Instead it's become a pain. Recording a 2nd track is impossible. You can record it easily enough but when you playback there's a stupendous lag in the 2nd track throwing everything out of time. Also I'd recorded loads of ideas and riffs for future use which I can no longer access as the date modified date has re-set to 1st Jan. 1970 so it's basically all gone... pissed off to say the least

Warning. I have given it 5 stars simply because I have made plenty of really good music ideas on it in the past. Lately there is a major latency issue that comes and goes on its own. Regardless.. this app used to be great and u won't find a better multi track free.

Each track past the first one has around a .2 to .5 sec delay. Also it cracks and buzzes but if the gain is turned down it could help but I haven't tried. The delay kills it for me though. It would definitely be worth a purchase if that was worked out. I'm using a galaxy s4.

Not intuitive for the musicians using other apps. Have to say Apple apps for music recording far surpass. But WARNING to anyone looking to use this app. It has 5 minute maximum time to record. So make sure your great song that you finally laid down on a track is 5 minutes or less. The remainder of the recording will be cut off and lost. How stupid to develop an app for this purpose and put a 5 minute recording limit? Wtf!?

I have seen this working great on my friends phone, however Samsung Galaxy s5 doesn't have a menu button, so I can't access the Go Pro or Share functions so I CANNOT USE THE APP! Please fix, would love the full version of this

@ Justin Parks: Took me a while to figure out how to export as well. Apparently this app still requires the old (deprecated) menu button found on legacy Android devices. Luckily you can still access the menu by long-pressing the app switcher button on most phones. This will bring up the menu that contains the mixdown option. Note to the developer: it's time to replace the old menu with an on-screen menu button! Other than that, the app works great on my LG G4. No lag or latency issues. Very basic and does exactly what it says.

Ok well so works for recording multiple tracks. I have been looking all night for an app like this. BUT... when recording a second track over the first one.... there is like a 0.5 second gap that vanishes. So when I record a lead over my rythm, the lead is playing slightly ahead of the rythm. Its annoying to say the least. Just that one little fix and you will get 5 stars. Please!

I wish there was a direction on how to use it because it's really confusing to use. I don't even now how to playback my recording. I think the description should be more descriptive and maybe labellings would help. I'm UNISTALLING RIGHT AWAY. It's very complicated and frustrating...When fixed, maybe I'll install again.

I understand that timing issues are a problem due to latency in the Android system. If I can listen to a track while laying down a new track and if I could time shift it than it would work. I did not have much trouble with this. What I could not figure out was how to name and save the tracks. I could not find Help or instructions. I tried several things but with no success. I am sure it is easy, once you know, but I do not like things like that. The UI needs to be intuitive.

I've always liked this app because it's simple and good for on the go.. but I got a new phone and now it won't let me export or even go to the menu. Please fix this problem, I really like this app!! When fixed, I'll give 5 stars

If you're looking to use more than one track, you're in the wrong place. There is a pretty bad lag going on here. I wanted to record vocal harmonies to see how they would sound, but the tracks don't play in sync. So this app is about as useful to me as the default Voice Recorder.

Org droid worked great! RAZR MAXX not so great. Tracks dont line up. Support said buy paid vsn to manually adjust latency. Sounds like they're still working out some bugs.

There is a small latency issue. I would estimate of 1ms. I use a Galaxy note so I know it has to be worse for others with slower hardware. Is Not obvious on 2 tracks but clearly exists by the 4th.

--Pros-- Has decent, easy to use features. Works well, intuitively. --Cons-- Very latent response, around 30-80 ms. Program doesn't compensate or allow for compensation. Also, will pick up and record its own playback. No option to switch to front speaker, or anything, to compensate.

I don't know how to use this app but I think it's great. I'm just sort of amateur, you know. And there isn't any help button to give me instructions. Please, just give me a simple instructions. I just wanna have some recording stuff. I'll give a higher rate if you could.

This app would be amazing if it worked. Everything is there that you need and its easy to use but when you come to record another track it records out of sync from the first track recorded. Maybe it's the delay from my gold tipped headphones? :- In any case it doesn't work as well as it should

I've recorded some good music with this app, but the issue I have is that when you record one track and then try to record another it rerecords the other track making it sound awful. Please fix this and I'll give you five stars.

First track not bad (my phone records alot clearer on other apps) Second track very out of sync, can't use it. Also can't turn gain down enough not to distort on drum track.

Seems like a decent app, but on HTC legend you can't hear your recorded tracks while are recording new tracks. So it's useless as a four track

Sweet app...I play guitar but I'm currently strapped for cash so Android is awesome. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I get an extreme popping sound no matter what level I record with on my equipment. Other than that, very pleased.

This Application is very easy to use, When I first started to use it. I had no idea what to do. But one thing led to another, and I figured it out. The only problem with this application is the off timing between the tracks. Suggestion: If you could find a way to allow users to move their recording from the 2nd track back and forward to align with the 1st track. That would not only give it more personalization. But eliminate the off timing altogether. Thank you for your time.

...but now the tracks just aren't lining up. I will record the initial track followed by the second and the two play completely out of sync every time. This is a NEW ISSUE. It didn't used to be like this. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but haven't found a resolution. Come on guys!

I recorded a very nice song. The good thing about 8 is that; 8 allows u to backup yourself. # very good. Yet still u need to add some effects... like chorus, reverb etc.

I thought 'cool a no frills four track for free.' I forgot that there is always a catch. Your microphone on your phone disables when ypu plug in headphones. Same with all of the other free recorders. Making it literally impossible to record a second track. Dont waste your time.

It seemed like it was pretty good for the ten minutes I was able to mess around with it before it decided to not work anymore. I get the same error message and force close whenever I try to start the app. Would love to give it another chance if you can work out that bug. -Droid Turbo

This would be the perfect app if not for latency issues. Free version actually worked better. When I purchased the full version latency got so bad it became unusable. Please, this is the best app so far for milti track recording that I've seen, particularly when it comes to live acoustic music. Please fix this latency issue.

The UI of the app is great and the audio quality is fine. This app has a latency issue which unfortunately makes it useless to me. I would suggest the developer introduce a latency test like I have seen on another android app. I will keep this installed and hope for an update.

I normally use this app to teach parts as the vocal coach at my church. I found a new song, began to record parts, and nothing. Frustrating me. Please.... What is going on?

As others have reported, recording a second track in time with the first is hit-and-miss at best - mostly miss, it has to be said. I've tried it both on Motorola Moto G2 and Hudl 2. Neither of course are top of the range hardware however they should be able to cope with laying down a basic guitar strum and recording some riffs over it. Pity - otherwise the interface is nice and clean and it's VERY easy to use as a simple device for practicing lead or riffs over a backing track if the latency issue could be resolved.

Its an alright app for scratch tracks, but that's about it. The third track is always out of sync and the fourth one is manageable at best, add track adjustment and maybe a slightly friendlier UI. Maybe a bit better quality for five stars.

Individual track recording quality is fine for what a phone app allows, but the timing between the tracks lags at least a 1/8 of a second, making recording simple ideas disappointing and frustrating the creative process, every time. Makes me not even wanna try the pro version.

For me it's just good enough to jot down music ideas, nothing more. I get a massive ~1/2 second delay in a recorded track and lots of extra noises on all but first tracks . That said, it basically works it's better than nothing and it's free.how bad could things be?

Wonderful app for about 10 minutes. Totally locked up. I closed and tried to reopen and nothing. Error message says contact support. Where do I do that? Uninstalled, reinstalled, and still wouldn't open. I hate this crap. This is the third garbage app of this kind.

No latency or distortion issues, like I've seen in other posts, but I can't find any option to export mixdowns... And if I want to record the output into another program, I might as well record in that to begin with.

Definitely a simple recording app. Four tracks that adjust volume. Would love to see panning option. Also it sounds fine listening on headphones while recording another track, but it's off when I play back. Please fix.

It opened, it worked. But when you start mixing tracks it gets extremely muffled and creates awful noise. Bad quality..

Really would be nice if it allowed you to line up the different tracks. Records good though and really simple to use...little too simple I think.

This is not some random stupid complaint about the app not installing correctly, this is about the most annoying thing in digital multi track recording: there is lag. The tracks don't match up. That is unacceptable. Stay away. Far far away. Its a great one-track recorder. I don't need that, and neither do you.
