Update 12-6-17, this rating has been reduced from 3 star to 2 due to significant bugs being introduced into the app that require the constant relaunch of the app, poor/slow Chromecast connectivity, constant casting disconnection, poor ability to pause, rewind, or fast forward without losing place in the show and having to start over, then wait on the app to buffer enough to return to original spot in the show. Slow syncing of new content. The app for Android is the only real problem that is effecting this products potential of having 5 stars, Xbox and Android TV version work great, hardware is reliable and excellent, however when compared to Plex DVR and other products, this capability from a consumers perspective is falling behind. Overall becoming increasingly annoyed and considering new OTA recording options soon. It works and functions fine, finally works with Gen 1 and Gen 2 Chromecast without stuttering or having to restart, my biggest complaint is that syncing on the Android app takes a very long time, I have the app for Xbox one and never have to wait. Having an option to sync in the background when connected to WiFi would be a god send for this app.

So, they advertise the device as the perfect gadget for "cable cutters"... well don't get your scissors ready just yet, because you won't be able to use this device without an Internet connection simply because the application wizard won't let you continue unless it searches it's online database to configure your channels... How hard it was to add a stupid SKIP button??!! After the hurricane María I don't have cable or Internet connection and so far it looks like it's going to take many more days... So I bought this device just to toss it in a drawer. Thank you Tablo. That was brilliant! BTW, I'm leaving this comment from work.

U pay to much $$$ just for the dvr and plus the cons u need Wi-Fi or a attena. So u buy tablo dvr and your attena is connected then later u realize u wasted ur money and u get maybe 3 or 4 channels or even none.

Awesome app for Tablo users! Works great on my Samsung S5 and I love being able to stream my local news to wherever I am when I travel even in my car while driving! Keep up the great work, Nuvyyo!!!

Not quite perfect yet, but is getting there, works very well for me on my Roku or Firetv using either wired or wireless connection!

Pretty good but rebuffed SO MUCH even with 1GB fiber. Has a bug that crops off a large part of the screen in the Android app.

Android TV version of the app lacks Live Channels integration and AC3 passthrough for a better sound experience. Also noticed that the sound levels are much lower than other apps on my Android TV. Fast forwarding through a recording with thumbnails was nicely done. Overall still a decent app; it has come a long way since the version that came with the indiegogo hardware release.

This app is terrible. Constantly disconnects. " No tablo found on network" after it has already been connected days before. Slow. Slow, slow. Shows and recordings buffer. Good idea but needs work.

Of course you can watch Live TV with this app. The sync is only slow the first time the app connects to the device. This app could be better but the system works well and makes the free OTA TV usable. Love recording the great PBS shows.

I use the Tablo on all devices in my house. Fire TV, apple and Android. This Android app just keeps crashing. I updated and did a complete reboot and after about 5 mins in the stream just stops and I have to close it open it again to get another 5 mins. It works fine on my other devices.

These folks care about their customers and are constantly working with them to improve the experience. I watch MY local channels from MY antenna, anywhere I have internet. Pause and rewind live tv, set and watch recordings, etc. And all on every device I use - with multiple instances at once! Nothing else offers all this! If you're having trouble, submit a support ticket and they will work with you to figure it out. Really Nick? It hasn't worked since the Superbowl and you haven't figured it out yet? LOL!

Really? One of the biggest selling points, live TV, isn't supported by the Android app? So my $800 high performance smartphone is relegated to being an expensive remote control for the Tablo? I thought I must be missing something...but no. Very disappointing. I didn't buy it for DVR capability...could care less about it...so that leaves me with pretty much no functionality unless I care to sit down at my PC or the room with the Fire TV stick. Can't even use the Android App to cast to my ChromeCast.

We are new Tablo owners, coming from DirecTv. The app on our Samsung Tab S is fast. Synching is quick; we are watching or recordings or live tv in seconds. The Fire TV app works very well, too.

The syncing seems to take a while on the Nexus player if it syncs at all. Syncing is fine on my phone. Also the option to set up a series recording but have it start a couple minutes early as well as run late would be amazing. If the syncing gets better I'll increase rating.

Greg Brush, Chris Crann and many others did not read the instructions before writing their reviews. To watch live TV you select the channel rather than the show. Click on the channel number on the left side of the guide and you will be watching that channel live.

Great product for those cord cutting. Some need improvement around sync time and 5.1 audio. Also would be great if it supported Samsung TV casting.

Great app if you have great internet. Doesn't work magic :) Beautiful app that works great. Does need a sound mute button so you don't blast the room.

No problems. All functions working well. Casting was choppy, but working great now.

Unable to watch live TV with this app. There isn't a play button for live TV.

Can't you make a better app? Both tablet and shield are sluggish even with Ethernet.

Needs to play live TV for phones. Caches what's in the HDD from last connect with app vs. Showing a listing each time

Green tint overlay during playback on Samsung S7. ;( No issues on other devices though.

Nice DVR and features, but when casting to Chromecast, video will freeze and you constantly have to stop casting and start casting again to keep viewing going. Tablo needs to spend some $$ on a programmer that can solve this problem! It is not a problem with Chromecast, because casting Netflix video from my phone or tablet, works seamlessly. Blogs and forums say Tablo is "working" on it. I wish they would hurry up...because this failure defeats the whole purpose.

Connection problems crop up regularly. Other than that, the dvr system is set up well.

The concept is great but the app rarely performs as desired. Watching with Chromecast is horrible and we often either just watch live and miss part of the show or wait for it to arrive on Netflix or Hulu. Hoping for updates to this app!

Needs better cast support, studders way too much and my network is not an issue. Could also use a persistent cast notification for easy commercial skipping vs having to open the app. Really hope some improvements coming. Reliable casting would make me highly recommend to others looking to cut the cord.
