Guitarist's Reference for Android
Tons of information, but it looks bad and it navigates worse. Hoping for an update that looks good and fixes the UI.
I thought this app would be an interesting addition to my guitar reference/Info apps but am a little disappointed. I first downloaded the free app and then bought the full version so it would be able play the notes??? When I compare the screen shots on the Play Store page and what shows up on my tablet I seem to be missing half the info that I should have and it only plays the chords, nothing else. Also there doesn't seem to be any kind of help file so someone who gets this hoping for insight into guitar playing will be at a loss! All I can say is "Needs a lot more before it's even worth the "inexpensive" price.
I havnt seen support for 7 String guitar : ) its just a pain to piece it all together with that one string missing, but of course you can get around fine with this. But i think if they add support for say bass, 7, 8 and even 9 string guitar that would make this app sell hard.
Interface is unusable, items end off-screen, misplaced and strangely sized,my eyes bleed
Cool app. It is pretty good
Used to be a great app. They took the slick, 3D looking display and flattened it to resemble something from 10 years ago. The chord finder is clunky and the graphics wig out; I end up with two pages of the chord finder tool displaying on the same screen at the same time. The main interface is more cluttered and more difficult to follow. Not sure what they were thinking with the "facelift" but it's more of a "face plant".
Haven't had this on my phone in a while because it was just outdated and the layouts weren't great. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the app and I was greeted with a new layout. Same app, just different placement of UI elements and I really like it! Good job!
I bought this hoping to easily find chords in alternate and open tunings but what I got was an exercise in frustration. I don't want to enter fingerings I made up in, say, CGCGCD, to find out what chord it is. I want to enter Dm and find fingerings for it! There's a FREE website that does this but I don't always have an internet connection.
I don't know why you changed the layout to these horrible colors. It was much nicer.
It's pretty sweet but the screen doesn't fit my phone , turbo 2 , and there's no half diminished cords. Also didn't have all scales.
Very happy with app teaching friend to play guitar, is there anyway you could put scale and chord degree in thank you
Used to be great.
Outstanding, great on the tablet for practice at home or away
This used to be great, it used to fit on my tablet and used to have a color scheme that doesn't make me want to scratch my eyes out. Hell it even used to show the note progression of scales which was useful for learning. Now it seems like the Dev made a bunch of bad decisions on a coke bender lately. Not sure what the hell I paid for with this as now it's no better than the free options.
No option to change the resolution. I need to scroll up and down, left and right. It's like reading pdf document on my 5"screen. It used to be a good app
The tablet view of this app sucks big time.... get this fixed asap.... this has a shrunken view on tablets I guess...... only a fragment of the entire screen-size is utilized....
WTF did you do to this? This used to be a great program. Red and black screen? What are you thinking? Landscape viewing only? Ya know, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Bring back the old interface, drop the red/black color scheme and you'll get 5 stars again. This is really bad now.
Red on black is the hardest color combination for reading - please, for goodness sake, who came up with this idea? without allowing the user to make color changes. How about color blind folks (for the color red)? Bring the old version back please, which was perfectly fine.
Heyo!! The newest update is pretty wicked. I'd give it 5 stars if you could include a 7 string guitar setting. And a screen size for LG G3.
The new layout is great... the colour choice, not so. Sorry, but the black and red is awful. Please use a white background with black text - clean and simple (or better still, give the option to choose)
This used to be one of my most used apps...but I hate the new interface. It doesn't display properly on my Samsung blaze cm11 phone so I have to scroll around to get to the menu tabs. Please bring back the other interface!!!!
I would give this app a SOLID 5 if you had SOUND with this app. It would especially help novice players such as myself. PLEASE UPDATE SOON, WITH SOUND, IT WOULD SURELY BE A HUGE PLUS!!! AND LIKE I SAID, I PERSONALLY WOULD GIVE THIS APP A SOLID 5!!!!!!! Also, there is no menu that pops up when I push the menu button. What's up? I just updated this app. For 46.6 MB there should be sound and some sort of menu. THANX GUYS!!!!! JIM C. From Harrisburg, Pa.
List of negatives about the new look too long to list. No real upgrade to functionality. If you have an older version, don't upgrade.
After update I can't see the top and side edges of the sceen. I can still click on icons there, just can't read them until I do. Other than that I dig the update.
New interface and larger area of fretboard are great! I would like to see old color scheme.
Bring back the old version, this is way too small for my tablet.
This app haven't been updated in 2 years.. TWO YEARS. Please make some updated resizing for that phones that people actually have now.
I've been using this app for years and it's been my number one go to tool for cross referencing any chordal or scalar information I'm unsure of. Ever time I get a new phone it's the first app I download. But ever since I got the HTC one I haven't been able to pull up the menu screen! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX and then I'll give five stars. But as far as the fully functioning app goes I recommend it to every guitar player I meet (from intermediate to advanced)
Still force closes ever time i open, please fix,
Greatest guitar app.
Just needs some interactive learning tools for beginners.
:..:..........................%$$%& really good app
Great on a DROID2
Quite simply everything a guitarist needs to learn more about chords and scales. I love the chord quiz, and alt. tuning mode is fantastic. Very well thought out app - 5 stars!!!
This is an Awesome app! I love it, great references, helps out a lot!
Best guitar reference app I've ever seen.
Absolutely great, comprehensive reference tool! Indispensable - Big thanks to dev :)
This app was amazing then my phone updated and now it looks all cartoony and childish. What happened to the menu bar across the top? Why is the space on the bottom just a HUGE banner?
What would really be cool if you could hide strings so the app could be adapted for bass guitar, and most definitely audio would be really nice for the notes. Other than that awesome app

I liked this app very much -- it presents the information I need in a clean usuable way. Very flexible with great options. HOWEVER, one significant flaw -- I really need the ability to label notes with scale degree rather than letter. It's a lot more useful to me to know where the third or the fifth is rather than the letter names of the notes. That small addition would make this a five star, use every day, app.
