This app is no longer supported by the author, and it no longer downloads NPR podcasts. It's a shame, as this was one of the best NPR podcast apps available. This author has released a new podcast app which is basically identical, but the new one does not support the mainstay NPR programs such as All Things Considered, Morning Edition, etc. It's a sad loss, as this was easily the best NPR app you could get.

This podcast has kept my podcasts organized and updated for over four years. It was refreshing having everything in one place, and now I am spoiled when it comes to other app choices, as they just don't have as much detail, selection, etc. Thanks, y'all. ♥

This had to been one of the best Podcast and Radio apps on Google. I loved using it everyday. I loved all the options, I'm gonna miss that. The layout of this app was great. It's too bad it got "discontinued".

The best thing I Iike about this app is, after a podcast is over, the app stops. I don't want to binge listen. I like to digest what I've heard, then go on to something else. Updates all the casts I've subscribed to. Great app.

Growing up in the days of AM radio. Grounded teens had no recourse, kids listened to spoken word theatre ,plays on open stages and listened to local PBS on radio, podcasts excite your mind. Go explore enjoy...Public underground podcasts!!!!

Love this app for all my public radio stations. Still using it despite the new app being encouraged.

This program has so many awesome features, I can't mention them all, but my favorite has to be that it remembers your location in every audio file. So even if you stop playback, play 10 other podcasts, and then come back to the first file, it resumes playback from where you left off. Winamp doesn't even do that. Minor flaws: in the latest version they got rid of the navigation buttons on the now playing screen. Why?

S70%
by S####:

I have easily set up user defined podcasts and found the radio stations I want. I like that there is an easy to set timer. There are two things I'd like to see changed. First, I find the car mode button on the playing menu to be a real nuisance. I'd like to be able to disable it by a Settings option or moved to a menu. Second, I'd like to have the Radio Alarm moved to somewhere more accessible than Settings. Otherwise, great work!

S70%
by S####:

This app would be awesome if it allowed me to easily get to the pause button and if it closed when I told it to. When I close a program, I expect it to close. Not for it to hang around for days on my notification bar and lock screen. It seems as the settings are meant to take care of this, but they don't work. It always requires a force stop to make it go away.

This is a great, little app. Because I am so busy, I don’t always get to listen to all of the NPR programs I like. It’s nice that I can listen to stories I’ve missed, just a couple hours later. I don’t like apps loaded with this material design. It looks like a video game or a toy. This app is free of all of that. Very functional, and easy to get where and what I need, just with the use of my right thumb. The live radio stations don’t work, but that’s not a big deal for me. I have another app for that. As far as collecting Podcasts, this is the best app for me. Five stars without hesitation.

I tried other podcast apps, but this is my favourite by far. Less ads than others, remembers your playback location when you pause it, easy to navigate, quick to load. Only criticisms: it doesn't have as many programmes as other apps and the episodes usually take a few days after airing to appear.

S70%
by S####:

Podcasts frequently replay short segments throughout playback. First time I heard it I thought it was a gimmick, meant to emphasize a portion of the show I was listening to at the time. Then I realized it was happening with all of the podcasts I listen to. I uninstalled the app earlier this year, and reinstalled it a few months ago. Same issue as before. I listen to podcasts either with my Samsung S6 (data or wi-fi) or Alexa (wi-fi).

I downloaded this before a series of road trips and it has been great. I've had no issues with crashing or other glitches (Moto G3 running marshmallow). The interface is easy, the selection of stations and podcasts is vast. I like it so much I paid for ad removal.

S70%
by S####:

Really love this ..great indexing of all episodes dating back to few years worth of Terry Gross or On Being. On issue though is that scrolling function can be a little problematic tends to go pages down when you looking only for one or two previous episodes. Keep up the good work.

S70%
by S####:

Great content, and easy to use! My only problem is that the volume of some of the podcasts is so low that they aren't understandable even at the highest volume level of my phone (even with headphones). That isn't the fault of the app, but surely the padcasts could be re-recorded with higher volume.

Y70%
by Y####:

Please, I love this app and use it every day. Since the marshmallow update on my Galaxy S2 it stops and will not resume play. Please fix this. I uninstalled it and reloaded all of my podcasts and the same issue if you pause the play it will not resume. You have to start every episode over from the beginning and fast-forward to the spot you left off

I don't have problems with the app crashing, but sometimes it refuses to play and says stopped on error. Its user interface is kind of confusing but it's better than the other apps. It doesn't have all the newest podcasts. The UI is confusing; i don't understand why it plays audios in the order it does. It seems random rather than orderly

S70%
by S####:

Lots of content good features, mostly good interface and lots of function. But still fails a lot, sometimes fatally periodically. Currently and suďdenly cannot update any podcasts. Basically broken, also cant export subscriptions for uninstall reinstall. Dev does not seem to test well no other app I use breaks so freqyuently ovr years of updsting. One grows to count on using it, but best to find one that is stable as a backup. This one is un dependable.

S70%
by S####:

For years I used this and it did pretty good, every now and then it would buffer. Lately, not even a minute in it stops it has to buffer. I live in a fantastically strong signal area it doesn't happen with anything else and it doesn't matter what the radio program is that I pick...

by S####:

I'd have given this app 5 stars for the fact that I can listen to all NPR stations from one spot. But the app takes too long to connect, sometimes up to 4 or 5 minutes. I'm disconnected even as I type this review. Come on, you can do better. I'd rather pay $9.99 for a functional NPR app than a free useless and frustrating app. +++ Update: Today I come back to downgrade from 3 stars to 1 star. Very disappointed.

S70%
by S####:

I'm so frustrated with this app. I like to catch up on my podcasts at the gym, and it would skip, repeat segments, or not play at all. Sometimes it would take 15 minutes to get through a 5 minute segment. I tried downloading the podcasts hoping it would help, but the problem persists. Now I have to listen to or download them from the web. BTW I do have a samsung phone. I read in other reviews that this was a problem with Samsung, but I had the same problem with my iPhone.

P70%
by P####:

Constantly stops working for no reason. I really don't understand why it's go so many five star ratings. I know it's not my phone, I have used it on an iPhone 4S, 5C, 6 as well as the Android, and I have the same problem. Radio player will frequently stop for no reason, and has to be restarted. Is this really the best you can do?

O70%
by O####:

The app works fine but it could be used as an excellent example of how not to design interfaces. Its GUI is convoluted and counterintuitive, navigation elements change position from screen to screen, and the overall sense after using this app is that of inconsistency and randomness. Clearly an app designed by a committee.

S70%
by S####:

Not much to say. It does what it's supposed to do and does it well. It's versatile, configurable, and easy to use. I'm very happy with it. Though, after I wrote this review, I found out that development of this app has been discontinued. It has been superseded by Podcast Republic.

S70%
by S####:

Easy to use and makes it easy to find new podcasts to listen to. It keeps track of what you listened. The download speed seems to be a bit slower than similar apps, but other factors might contribute to such.

S70%
by S####:

I have searched and searched for an app that will download NPR programs and allow easy search and playback. I'm still searching. This app is clumsy, difficult to navigate and counterintuitive. I would LOVE to give it a 5☆ rating because the content is great! Alas the actual app is TERRIBLE.

Q70%
by Q####:

I love NPR, but this app skips and rewinds at random times during any podcast I play. I ended up switching phones and the problem persists. It makes me sad.

S70%
by S####:

I love this app! However, it does have glitches, and can be difficult to navigate. Some programs only partially download, and This American Life only has the last 3 episodes. The older version had hundreds. You really have to hunt for some stuff. But I can't get in my car without this.

J70%
by J####:

Would give it five stars but every single time I use it, halfway through my podcast, it suddenly switches to one I've previously listened to so I have to stop what I'm doing, find the podcast I was listening to and then search for the spot I was at when it left. Super effing annoying and updating it did not help.

U70%
by U####:

I use this on my Nexus 6P and I can fine evey NPR show to which I want to listen. It does crash occasionally which is annoying because it doesn't pick back up where it left off.

Z70%
by Z####:

. It updates constantly and often breaks then they fix it again break it again. At the moment its unusable- since latest update it jumps around from one podcast to another like some ghost is playing with the controls. Very frustrating. Currently looking for another player. I wish they would stop breaking it but seems to be a compulsion. Doesn't matter how fancy a broken tool is.

Interesting variety of podcasts. Dependable entertainment & learning venue. Unsure of how to use all features, but learning more & more. Unable to play music satellite on this app, but have another app to do that. Thank you, love the convenience!!

D70%

I absolutely love this app. Whatever public radio podcast or station you are looking for is here, super easy to use, clean and intuitive interface. Full marks. I loved it when I first downloaded it years ago, and I love it now. At one point there was a buggy update with my phone, but 1) it's long been fixed and was only a temporary blip, AND 2) in the meantime the developers actually sent to me an older version of the app that I could use while they worked on it after I complained. How awesome is that?! A+

Frequent updates. Outstanding content. Well done UI. Night mode is a great feature. I wish more apps had that.
