About VibSensor

VibSensor is a vibration meter geared to science and engineering applications where quantitative accelerometer and vibration data are needed. It turns your mobile device into a vibrometer or seismometer, with easy collection, data storage, and email of data. VibSensor gives the user five tools:

Live Display: See tilt and vibration data in real time.

Acquisition: Timed or vibration activated acquisition, with settable delay, duration, and trigger level. Collect raw accelerometer data for up to 10 minutes at max rate allowed by device. Also analyze low frequency vibrations with periods up to five minutes.

Data Storage: Acquired collections are stored on the device, with date and time stamp for later retrieval. Collections can be named for easy identification.

Analysis: Each collection can be viewed to see the raw accelerometer data, processed tilt and vibration, and calculated power spectral densities, both in graphical and report format. Units can be selected to be either g or m^2/sec.

Email Access: Users can email raw or processed data in text (csv or tab-delimited) or MATLAB format.

With VibSensor, you can explore the world of vibrations. Perform vibration analysis, or use it as an accelerometer data logger. Capture vibrational resonances and magnitudes, or even use it like a seismograph to capture an earthquake!

App History & Updates

What's Changed
- Vibration activated recording: like a true seismometer or seismograph, collections are triggered on vibration events. Select the trigger level, collection duration, and number of repeat collections. Your phone goes into an armed state and waits for an event to start.
- Unified power spectrum display with log-linear display on both axes.
- Collection settings saved between app restarts.
- Enhanced export of report info in attachment.
- Starting timestamp reported to millisecond precision.

Lovely app. Really excellent work, useful in a lab when searching for noise. Has a small bug: when editing the title of a measurement, the last word is lost. So: "Hello world" becomes "Hello".

this app is great in terms of vibration calculation but i did not find amplitude vs time curve for the same

No way to get data out unless u pay

The best app I've found for monitoring and analysing structural and mechanical vibrations. It is able to poll my phone's accelerometers faster than other competing apps that I've tried, and the ability to get instant RMS values and frequencies makes it perfect for my needs. I happily paid the one-time fee to be able to email results to myself and colleagues.

Best tool in the playstore. Using it to trace drive train vibrations that will save me money on car repairs.

Best vibration meter I could find on the play store so far. Using it to dynamically balance the motors on my multi-rotors. Being able to records samples is great, delay before acquisition is nice too. Only annoying details (for my use) : I have to do lots of samples to balance a single motor and lose a lot of time going to "ViewData" after each sampling. It would be really the best to display basic infos about the last sampling on the "acquire" page (at least the RMS vibration).

Update: (Fixed on last version). Thank you. Back button is not working (cant exit app) in this latest vesion. Android 4.4.2 (On screen back button). Previous version working no problem.

Used this to trouble shoot a structural problem. The reporting is perfect for field work due to the ease in understanding of the results. Great job!!!!!!!

I like the app. However, the calculated frequency is not correct. I compared the VibSensor output with other reliable frequency measurement techniques and found VibSensor to be incorrect. Also, my application squares the frequency to determine cable tensions. Hence, readout precision to 0.1Hz is not good enough for the low frequencies - <5Hz - encountered in my engineering work.

Using this to balance and troubleshoot my multirotor motor issues. I found the source of my fpv jello issue, it was an unbalanced motor!

Searched play store for a seismo app that will help me balance small rc motors this is the first one I have found that will actually delay and record a sample giving me the data I need good job

We are testing a 4 storey building in a few days. Can't wait to compare the app results with the really expensive equipment data.

Makes it easy to collect and export accelerometer data. Selectable units, MATLAB export nice. Was able to do vibration analysis of translation stage, find resonances and level of vibration. Great for quantitative analysis, engineering apps.
