Signal Spy allows users to be better informed when it comes to their cellular service. It allows you to see signal strength and technology in real time. We can also tell you what LTE band you're using on Sprint and T-Mobile so you can understand what speeds and features to expect. Signal Spy also keeps a history of all of your connections: when you connect and disconnect from WiFi, and what carrier you're using! Pro Users can now see a history of Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity along with signal strength and location!

For Project Fi customers, users will also be able to better manage their experience by easily swapping between carriers with our dialer code shortcuts. Our network switching logging will be extremely useful to show you how often you switch between Sprint and T-Mobile networks. We also have a resources page within the app dedicated to resources that Fi users have found helpful with their service. Note though that our app will not automatically switch for you, and that all switch requests will revert after 2 hours. This is a ramification of using the dialer codes and cannot be controlled by Signal Spy.

Explanation of Permissions:
Location: In order to determine your LTE band, we need to access information about that tower. Accessing tower information requires the coarse location permission because of the data you can extract from that tower. We also use Location to determine where events took place (you can turn this off in settings)
Phone: In order to use the dialer, which is necessary for the carrier switch codes, we need to have the phone permission
Contact: In order to restore previous purchases on other devices, we need to verify your Google account and confirm add on payments. We don't store your contact information outside of your device

What are users saying about Signal Spy

K70%
by K####:

I'm on project to, traveling a lot. While the app works fine within US, it has wired status reports (connected to unknown / null, no band) internationally

O70%
by O####:

Very handy, especially the cell network notification. Wish the dropdown notification bar wasn't quite so big though. Using dialer codes is a little clumsy in the free version, but still a great feature.

K70%
by K####:

Always says i am on wifi even when wifi is off and i am on cellular i tried manually refreshing the app clearing cache and even reinstalling nothing fixed this issue it is rather useless in this state

F70%
by F####:

Awesome app, I love the dialer features. Asked for help and they went above and beyond to get the app to work on my BFF's device.

K70%
by K####:

Using with Pixel XL on Google Fi. Quick, responsive help. Able to download network history in paid version. Very cool.

V70%
by V####:

Very handy, and has nice widget. Reports accurate connection info. I will soon make a donation.

L70%
by L####:

Great app for Project Fi users! This app really comes in handy with all the detailed information it provides. I especially like the option of being able to change carriers on the fly with the dialer codes.

K70%
by K####:

It asks me if I'm sure I want to use dialer codes and I can't click okay! I'm going nuts...

K70%
by K####:

Very informative. Love this app. I've been running it for a while to track which networks I'm using on Project Fi. And now you can use it to track data usage on a daily basis, which is great.

K70%
by K####:

Why don't show information about LTE of China CMCC?

K70%
by K####:

It is extremely handy to switch services

K70%
by K####:

Loved it

K70%

Works wonders on Nexus 6p. But there is no reason to constrict it to certain devices, I have a Verizon gpad working on Project Fi and this app is listed "not compatible". Had to go with an alt. Please change this devs!

K70%
by K####:

This app gives you access to network information and switching options that should've been built in to Google Fi. Before this app, I was often getting put on a network with a WORSE signal than the other. Now I can actually switch on demand.

O70%
by O####:

App is useless for non rooted phone or for non usa people. Gets such aar the main screen and doors not give any option.

K70%
by K####:

Advertised the pro version sale in notification panel and I already own it. Clumsy and spammy. The app does work but advertising in notification panel is horrible behavior and advertising to people who already own something is super clumsy.

G70%
by G####:

Awesome app that does exactly what is expected and described. Only issue I have is that occasionally the app closes/removes itself from notification, which means nothing is being logged, if you even use that feature. Opening the app again manually will bring it back up.

K70%
by K####:

For the most part it's nice, but when I have the Accessibility turned on for it (required for dialer codes) it cause my volume to be displayed for about 4-5 times as long as when Accessibility is turned off for the app. I use a Nexus 6P. Would give 5 stars if this was fixed, but I watch a lot of videos on my phone.

K70%
by K####:

This app has the capability I was looking for. I especially like the cellular data used breakdown by day.

K70%
by K####:

Seems to work well. I just use it to see what network I am on, paid to support since it was useful. Did notice a bug... after you pay for it the "upgrade to pro" message never goes away from the Android pull down/status screen. EDIT: indeed, rebooted the phone and the message went away!

Z70%
by Z####:

This is not a very good app. Way to invasive, poor user interface. This developer should learn some design aesthetics. Until then 1 star is all it deserves in my opinion!!

R70%
by R####:

Dialer codes no longer work in Android 7.0, Nexus 6, phone app 8.0 version

K70%
by K####:

Nice to see what network in on sometimes, but I wish the dialer codes worked. They've never worked, ever. Trying one just brings up the phone dialer with a blank field.

R70%
by R####:

Experiencing a crash using the app with Lineage OS, is this an OS conflict or something I can fix?

K70%
by K####:

App was unable to provide cellular info for my phone

K70%
by K####:

Pretty sweet. Wish it had more info like LTE Discovery does

K70%
by K####:

Works as advertised. I would LOVE to see a tasker plugin to allow for dialer codes to be automated.

K70%

Trying to buy pro it won't let me

Does not work sometimes. Clicking on any dialer code does nothing. Phone reboot fixes it.

K70%

Pro user...Auto mode does not work...Nexus 5x....Does not auto switch carriers even when auto mode is active and a better signal exists at the same spot...Pro version installed...

Q70%

Project Fi user. Love being able to see the underlying network. Keep up the good work.

K70%
by K####:

Excellent. A must have for project file users.

K70%
by K####:

It doesn't show band.

K70%
by K####:

Well done, must have app for Project FI users to monitor connection info. Would like to see 24 hour stats of connection info, i.e. time connected to each network, total disconnects, 3G/4G connection time, etc. Nice addition of a Wear app, but honestly the Wear app would be much more useful if it allowed you to view your current network info without having to pull out the phone, and then allowed to switch networks. Using Wear just to launch codes seems somewhat useless without knowing what the signal is currently doing. If I have to pull out the phone to see network info, I can switch easier in the phone, not the watch. Love this app though!

K70%

Great tool for Project fi users. Can't wait for night mode

K70%

Tracks my AT&T bands now, the team is very responsive to mail and comments.

X70%
by X####:

I posted my review and and the issue I had and they were quick to respond and super helpful!! They asked me to send info to work on the problem and while they were doing that... I uninstalled and reinstalled and did a soft reset to clear the cache and it's working perfectly again! Great product and great support!

K70%
by K####:

If you don't like the fact that the icon in the status bar shows the network AND the Wi-Fi settings you can turn that off... but instead of only showing the network settings... it only shows the Wi-Fi setting which is already in your notification bar. Senseless. Also, you can't have the icon in the notification bar unless you also have a large notification in your shade drop-down. Equally pointless. Ugh. Now with twice as many ads. Bottom of every page + middle of every page. What's next, 3-4 ads per page??

R70%
by R####:

I'm not reviewing the app poorly because functionally it is great. However, if you do not purchase the paid versions, ads are present. This is fine, but some of the ads included potentially malicious things such as "virus on phone. Clean up now". I'm not sure where these ads come from, but just wanted to make users away of this. Developer(s), can I report this ad somehow?
