Bring Berlin philharmonic to your home on TV screen using Chromecast. Priceless! Simon Rattle rocks!

Love the app. Sure, it would be nice if we could independently download the music, but apart from that it's great

Y70%

Only movies, no possibility to only stream the audio or at least decrease the movie quality. Therefore unusable for people with limited bandwidth

My favorite app on my phone and Firestick! I'm so in love and indebted to the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Nice. But I have to BUY tickets after the free trail to watch further shows.

just great

Pieces will frequently begin playing for no reason whatsoever when the app isn't even running in the background. I then have to reopen the app, load a video, and pause it in order to get the music to stop. Love the concerts, but I can't have my phone starting Verdi's Dies Irae 5 times a day

The music is superb. MAJOR WEAKNESS: inability to filter by composition. Say I want to find Beethoven Fifth symphony: Composer > Beethoven > Composition. This option is NOT available. Filter only goes like this: Composer > Beethoven > Conductor. Then you get a list of concerts sorted by conductor. Scroll through the list of concerts for each conductor to see if Beethoven Fifth even exists in the list of concerts. That's worth two stars to me.

I cannot open this app on the nvidia shield tv; despite an uninstall-reinstall and restarting the actual nvidia shield tv, the app doesn't open, and crashes in the process.

I use the wonderful suite of Berlin Philharmonic apps for quite a while now, especially on my Smart TVs and (in a lesser degree) on my tablet(s) or phone. This is simply the best media streaming initiative in music. Having access to live performances and tons of recorded concerts by one of the greatest philharmonic in the world, on virtually ALL of your devices is wonderful. If you love classical music, you must not ignore this. Just install the app(s) and subscribe and you will never go back. The quality is exceptional, the apps are well designed and implemented, while the archive contains a lot of valuable pieces. And again, the wonderful flexibility of being able to listen to the recordings at your convenience and on any device you own is unprecedented and quite a treat.

I have enjoyed DCH for several years, and the app has been much improved over time for reliability, performance and improved UI. The most recent addition of an Offline feature is fantastic. It will be great to be able to enjoy concerts while traveling, or otherwise not connected to the web. The function has worked perfectly for me so far. It's easy to search and download archival material, in SD or HD for later use. The files are stored on the integrated SDCard memory using Android 6.0, so it doesn't clutter up the main internal memory on the phone. I was especially impressed that I can turn off the screen during playback, whenever battery life is an issue, and playback will sequence through multiple downloaded segments without intervention. All in all, it's a fantastic addition to an already great app and service.

Fabulous when it works, but can't hear a movement all the way through when casting to my TV from my Samsung Note 4 to Chromecast using the app. Is this common or a problem with my wireless network?

K70%
by K####:

Appreciate all the recent improvements in the app. The search function however could be improved even further. When casting, I notice a strange scroll bar in the bottom of the screen. Can it be eliminated?

Not without its flaws, excellent PCM stereo sound makes up for them

Despite reporting the problems with the archive function on 2 separate occasions they are still not fixed. It just doesn't work. I've tried reinstalling and it still freezes when I try to look at the works of a particular composer/conductor etc. How about doing something about this? It used to work just fine until the latest versions were released. Subscription has 6 months left so guess what will happen if it's still not working in August?

Can't log in even though I'm 100% sure I use the correct password. Also can't change the password without supplying more address information. My passwords contain many special characters, not sure if that's an issue. EDIT: Indeed, it works now. Thanks for the fix and reply.

The app has a few bugs together with outstanding content and reliable HiDef streaming. I REPEATEDLY signed into the site for the first concert of the season, and every time bounced out, although the vast archive I was able to access. Chromecast works piece by piece, can't select a concert to play entire way through. I am aware Digital Concert Hall team is working to clear android bugs and sign up also provides full PC access, which hasn't experienced ANY issues with Windows 10 rollout.

Archives play fine, but just signs me out every time I try to play a live stream on my phone. The app on my Sony Blu-ray player has no issue as this. Needs to get fixed.

Does not automatically progress in the playlist of a concert nor give you a chance to even do it manually. You have to actually search for the concert from scratch for every part.

Great to see this released finally on android. App works nicely and as always the content is top notch. Would be nice to see some more advanced features such as save for offline viewing available on ios. Some bugs still present, one preventing correct display on the progress bar. Quite frustrating if you would like to resume a concert at a certain point.

K70%

The app isn't without its bugs, but the speed and effectiveness of the support are outstanding. The quality of the finished product is worth your money for anyone who doesn't have immediate access to a local professional orchestra.

App is nicely designed and works well, but curiously (on my 4.1.2 Android tablet) there is no way to pause and resume video, or to navigate to a particular location (as with the iPad app). Some other, nice to have features would be: - favorites - download for off line use - playlists. The ChromeCast support is great, and has turned out to be the main way I use the app.
