Galaxy Button Lights 2 for Android
After months of trying to find the Galaxy Tab S2 lights in the dark, I happened on this app, which solved the problem. Very useful; actually necessary for full enjoyment of your Samsung Galaxy device. Other reviewers have stated that light settings offered by this app should be a standard feature, and they should be. Thanks to the developer for correcting this deficiency.
Does what it needs as the S7 doesn't give you this option anywhere. However, I would be thrilled if you could implement app exceptions, such as having the lights be off for specific apps of your choosing. Being able to set the lights off for a certain time period (e.g. night time) would also be nice.
Like others have said, this app should not have to exist, but I am extremely glad that it does! I can't wrap. My head around the stupidity of the software engineer choosing not to put the options in this app into the phone's core software. Especially since my Galaxy S3 had it! Oh well. Many thanks to the developer of this simple yet very much needed software. Now I can turn those stupid annoying capacitive button lights off for good!
I've had my galaxy s2 tablet for like two days, and couldn't get used to the annoying light. I have a note 4, and that was one of the first things I disabled. I was super upset to find out the tablet doesn't allow that. Thankfully this works, and I don't have to deal with the blinding light any longer.
Thank you so much! I'm sure that this setting was on the Tab S2 under display on Lollipop. I'm going to leave them on always when the screen is on. It can't take up that much power. Put in a donation button. You deserve it. This is something that Samsung should have done.
I was so annoyed by those button light . I usually play games at night with very low brightness, and every time I touch screen these stupid super bright button light would turn on blind me. I was at a point of ditching my note5 just for this reason . Luckily I stumbled upon this app. I'm happy now playing games at night
This app is a beautiful example how people can be awesome. A simple fix to an aggravating lack of customization, and free of any ads and overhead charges. I recommend this app to anyone that likes to use their phone at night, especially if you're a stargazer. Many thanks!
Does what it says on the tin, no spooky permissions. Maybe add a custom number of seconds it stays on? I really don't know any other way to make this better. (I have it always off but that might be useful to some.)
Great application! So I can save more power then! Because the light on the button consumes battery also. Oh yeah, this works well on A series. Maybe the other series who have the capacitive button with light is gonna work also. Try it guys! It's very worth!
Just got the S7 Edge and holy moly those buttons were driving me insane turning off so fast. I immediately Googled some help and voila!.. Amazing. Thank you very much! I would pay for this as well!
I do a lot of work on my phone in the dark and am extremely sensitive to the phone backlight. I could find no dimmer, paid or unpaid, that worked on my s7 Edge navigation buttons, which are way too bright and can't be controlled. This does!
Works perfectly. Only thing I wish it did was let me set a schedule to turn it off at night. But, frankly, I know where the buttons are, anyway, and it's such a relief to have them off that I don't care.
Don't like that you can't control your capacitive button lights? Just get this. Works on the S5 Neo without a problem. As the once great Shia would say, "JUST DO (WNLOAD) IT!"
Fantastic. On the new s6 software there isn't a setting for how long u want the lights on for. This solves the problem with outstanding results. An assessive light would be cool. Where it used the light sensor and turns them on if it's dark? Or maybe a time setting? Like they turn on after 8pm and they're off during the day to save battery?
Cannot live without what this button does. Who want's to fiddle around trying to find the open apps and back keys when they are not lit up when you are in the dark. It is a real nightmare. Cannot understand putting out this little gem Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 device and this function is missing. Cardinal sin. Put it back on an update please. This app deserves 20 out of 20. Download it people.
I turn off my capacitive button lights whenever I'm in the dark. This app works, but is very clunky. With a shortcut or tasker integration I could automate it, or at least with a widget I could toggle it quickly.
Now see....why couldn't Samsung have done this? It's like the people that design these phones don't even use them. When you get to the point that you come to the Google store to find a solution, then you must be pretty fed up. Quick download, and quick simple fix to an annoying issue. Thank you!
What's funny is more people want the lights on, for me, I already know where they are. I want them OFF. I browse the web on my phone at night and the constant on/off of the lights are distracting. So much less distraction now. THANK YOU.
This app is a necessary thing to avoid blinding light. If I could have a dim option and as short as 15 or 30 seconds, I'd give five stars, even pay. Darn Samsung, if you can't customize the lights, don't include capacitive keys. This dev came to our rescue.
I have been looking for an app to turn off those function lights for such a long time. Thank goodness this was created. I can now read and surf in the dark w.o hurting my eye bc of the bright lights. Thank you!
The buttons on my s7 annoy me when using it at night. They annoy me even in the day. There's no reason for the button lights at all since you know where the buttons are. Glad to have this app to always keep them off.
Usually I use my phone on low brightness in the dark a lot, and holy toilet those button LEDs were bright! im glad that this app helped me turn them completely off, I know the position of the buttons by heart so i dont nees those eye piercing lights anyways! Thank you Dev!!!
Honestly this app is great. It saves my poor eyes from being blinded in the night by those awful keys! I do wish there was a way to set it up so that it automatically turned off the lights at certain times though.
Thank you for the good work! The inability to turn-off back-lit soft keys on my Galaxy A510 had really started to grain on my nerves... until I found this app =)
I use my tablet primarily as an ereader for reading in bed. Just bought a brand new Galaxy tablet and was ready to return it after the first night because of being blinded by the Back and Recent App buttons lighting up every time I flipped pages. Downloaded this app and was able to shut off that feature, but I can easily turn it back on if need be.
Thanks to the developer for creating this app. And Samsung, what the hell, I liked having that option in the past with other Samsung devices. Not a smart move to take that away :(
I like to read before sleeping with a dim blue-free screen setting but the button lights always irritated me. Lo and behold S7 took away the beautiful feature to turn these unnecessary lights off. Simple app that does exactly what I wanted. Thank you.
Oh my god, thank you so much! I was using this in the dark and every time I scrolled it felt like my eyes were burning out of my skull. THANK YOU!
Just installed, confirmed functional on Galaxy Note 5 running Android 7. I like to play games at night before I sleep... I would try to hide the bottom of my phone with a blanket! haha... This Note 5 has crazy bright buttons. So glad to turn them off.
I spent hours looking for this option on my GS7. I thought maybe it was a hidden feature. But nope, there isn't an option for it. That's where this app comes in handy. I don't need to have this bright lights on blinking, specially at night (very annoying) I mean I already know where they are. Thumps up to the developer, it works perfect! Thanks
Perfect, but feature request: allow for scheduling. For me I use the blue light filter in the evenings and the bright buttons were terrible compared to it. But they are nice in the day. I would like to be able to schedule between 1.5 sec during the day and off at night to match my blue light filter. Thanks!
But it's free. I will happily pay for the application that works flawlessly and in no non-sense manner. Kudos to developer. Thumbs up to you, thumbs down to Samsung. Who in the world thought it's a good idea to turn them off every 1. 5seconds? Drove me crazy until this app came to rescue.
Works perfect on my Verizon Note5. No idea why there isn't a setting for this included in my phone, the lights are completely unnecessary and strain my eyes. I'm ecstatic to find this app. It was easy, only took a second to change and worked like a charm. Thank you!
What a stupid design decision by Samsung and/or carrier to default timeout of these buttons to 1.5 secs (so annoying!) and even more stupid not to allow the user to adjust that timeout. This app allows you to override the stupidity. Thanks for providing it.
Perfect! The application is doing exactly what it's supposed to do on my Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo (SM-G903F). I don't know why Samsung decided to remove the capacitive button light setting in the Marshmallow update but this app is a phone saver!
Samsung disabled the options to control the touch key light duration on latest marshmallow update, it was frustrating to use the phone at nights and it drains the battery. This app is really a good work around, found it easily and works perfectly...!!!
Could not be more simple. Could not possibly. Full customization of softkey lighting in four choices and one [save] button. Only need one choice, though. Hell with those softkeys that are hard on the eyes. Only other way around it is by turning on Power Saving Mode.
Sometimes wanted them off or other times wanted them on longer. This works. And no stupid ads!
Spent half an hour looking for this setting (which has been a standard option since the dawn of android time.) Dumb it was removed but this app did the trick to change it to always on. Maybe now I can start learning that the soft keys are swapped opposite sides from my moto Turbo.

The only reason I have an android is the customization. So much greater than the iBasics. I just cant understand why Verizon would take away this option to adjust the button lights. What is the motive? Money? This app works great. I can now use my S6 in the dark without the button lights blinking on and off in my eyes. Should save battery life, too.
