Selective Silence for Android
Works fine with my Gmail contacts by name/number with selection list for specific incoming #s per contact name. Note if you have Phone Silencer app active this will restart silence after incoming whitelisted callers & prompt for new time to enable ringer.
. Works just fine on my Samsung Epic 4G, but when it rings it is kinda quiet. Also I have to laugh at the review from Rachelle Yakubu that says "did not silence any calls." This is an app to make sure calls from specific people still ring even while the phone is on silent. Read the description next time, seriously.
Works perfectly as advertised. I had family call me on the phone while set on silent/vibrate and all calls had ringtone. The only issue I had was there was no way to set the volume higher on the selected callers. I would assume that those that say it didn't work or had missed calls when asleep was that the ringtones were low in volume.
It worked great on my HTC EVO 3D but won't work on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Total bummer since I really need this app due to my wierd sleep schedule because of work.
Works a treat! Saved my arse when i was almost late for work. Would love to see it work for sms as well not just calls
Does exactly what I need it to do. I like to sleep with my phone on silent, but need to receive calls from work for a "call out". This isn't a fancy app, but it works. I have a Google Nexus 5 phone.
I gave an extra star for the great idea, but just didn't work for my phone. The calls showed up on my screen, but no sound.
It didn't work on the zte zinger but on my LG L2 it works. On 4/10/15 i had my phone on silent and my boyfriend's number rang through. I'm happy it works now.
I added a number to the white list, and made sure the number wasn't muted. I set my phone to silent, but when the number calls it's still completely silent :-( I'm currently running ICS.
Does just what it says, and really comes in handy. It would be even better if there were a feature like iOS's "Do Not Disturb" where it silences the first call but allows the ringer if the same caller calls back within 3 minutes. Still, a great app even as-is.
I've tested this app several times, and it won't ring when my husband calls. For some reason I select his name from my contacts to add in the Selective Silence app, but then his name doesn't show on the list, so I think maybe that's part of the problem?
Perfect for when I travel. If my family needs me at night it will ring me otherwise I can have a peaceful night's sleep. Saw other review about the volume level is too low when it comes of of silent. The trick is that you put the phone on silent from the menu rather than using the volume button.
If this did for texts AND calls what it does for calls only, I'd gladly pay you for the app. Any chance of that functionality?
So far so good. Tested it out, wished it worked when you toggled the volume down too. Also would be awesome if it worked with Sound Manager.
Does exactly what it's supposed to. It doesn't have a fancy UI and isn't bloated with extra features, just the one you want, and it works flawlessly!
Nice idea, shame it doesn't work at all.
I hv s6 and it works fine for the second time. For the 1st time it beeps. Kindly rectify.
Does what it says without ads...at all...nice...great dev! Click view more apps and get others too! Dont forget to rate so others can find this!
It worked but didn't work. I tested it and it changed phone from silent but it didn't turn ringer on it only switched it to vibrate.
I used this app for a long time with my Galaxy s3 and it worked very well. Now I have an s7 and it doesn't work for me anymore.
Works great,at night I can turn phone on silent to avoid unnecessary calls to get the one I need to run my towing for the State Highway Patrol and auto repair business,,
The app puts the phone on ringer quite efficiently. However, it does not put the phone back on silent mode after the call. Please fix.
Great idea, nice and simple but didn't work on my Galaxy S3 with Android 4.3 unfortunately
It doesn't try to be an all - in - one. You silence your phone, it let's certain callers through. End of story
I put the numbers I want to ring. I tried it but it didn't work . When I put the number am I suppose to press the sound button so it will turn to an x so it will sound
Better if we can put selective contacts into complete silence or on vibration
Samsung galaxy s4 verizon doesnt work at all.
Probably a good app, but just didn't work with my phone. tried on silent, on vibrate, after restarting. Uninstalling to try another app.

Great app, was in huge need for something like this! Works on my HTC One (m7). Only suggestion is to allow the volume be controlled by the user. I get why the low volume, the user has the silent mode for a reason and a lower ring volume is assumed. Making it the user's choice would be GREAT! Thanks.

I had this on my HTC one m7 before and it worked great while the phone was in silent mode. On 3/18/15, I had my boyfriend call and tested this while the phone (t mobile zte zinger) was on silent and vibrate and it didn't work. Maybe I'll try it again :(
Does what it says..... plain and simple. Sometimes doesn't ring on 1st call, but does on the second. Hopefully the next update has an adjustable volume or is higher.

Wish it worked with messages also. & wish it had some kind of tutorial or guide. Even tho it's pretty simple
Another reason why I love android, Most of time my phone is on silent and vibration and I couldn't get notification from mom dad and they yell me afterwards but this solved it omg
ChainsDD, you r awesome dude! Thanks for the neat and unique app. Works well. SGS4g
On jelly bean. On silent it plays my ringer very quietly. Can barely hear it.
Doesn't work on my lg esteem

The reason I installed it was that I wanted my phone silent at night when I'm sleeping, but knowing my dad wasn't doing well I wanted emergencies to come through, ie calls from his care home and/or immediate family since I don't have a land line. I installed it, and had someone phone me to test it. It worked then. But the morning my father died, I woke up to 7 missed calls from the care home and from my sister whose calls were supposed to ring. I wouldn't rely on this thing working.
