Superuser for Android
This app requires that you already have root, or a custom recovery image to work.
Note: App and binary will have different versions. The app is updated more often than the binary is.
This app cannot be uninstalled if it was installed with your ROM or root. If there is no uninstall option, it's because you placed it in /system/app, not me. It is impossible for an app to be installed in /system/app by the Play store. In fact, the entire /system partition is read only at runtime. The only way for an app to be placed in /system/app is via a rooting process (which usually installs Superuser), or by remounting the system partition as read/write and manually putting it there.
Permissions requested are for:
Internet - updating the binary
External storage - backup/restore for elite users
NFC - creating an allow tag for elite users
Boot completed - fix database on boot
Support request emails that simply say "Doesn't work" or something to that effect are automatically deleted by our stupidity filter and will not be answered.
If you compare permission of other superuser apps and this one they do not match up and this superuser f/c every time or says no root but bought SuperSU and no problems and runs root smoothly.. So please beware of apps and learn permission and study apps even on Google play or you might one day see pics of things u don't want shared on the internet due to thefts of private information stolen from a app you thought was harmless..
At first I thought this app was the best thing since sliced bread. However, now that I've tried CWM's equivalent, I'm not nearly as impressed (especially with the CWM Superuser being FOSS, and not requiring "Elite" to have extra features like a PIN). Best of luck to you all, though; it's been a fun ride.
Recently, I moved from an app drawer SU 3.1.3 to the system app SU 3.2 from the dedicated website. I guess when the change was made to flat files, or maybe the fix on requesting permission, the app went haywire for me. I still had root access, but it would consistantly ask me for access right, even with remember checked. Also, I believe it caused my WiFi tether to act up, which isnt good seeing as my only internet is my phone. In process of rolling back. Stock ICS EVO3D CDMA Unlocked BL S-On, hboot 1.58
Previously when I tried to update the binary it fails and my phone gets rebooted automatically. After updating my busybox pro to the latest version the update goes very smoothly. So those who encounter binary update problem please update your busybox to the latest version and then update the binary. That will solve the problem. Until now I ha ve never faced any problem. After update, all data of the previous version except the su binary is saved. So applications won't ask for root access. Thanks.
When i try to update the binary, it says downloading manifest... failed. So when i press try again it goes to the screen before then it force quits. I don't know what this means but i hope you can tell me if its me or your application.
Love superuser ever since I rooted my shooter its been working better then ever. I can someone please tell me though when I go to update from 2.3.1 to whatever the new binary is. Why does it get all the way through update just to tell me the test was a failure
Very few apps are able to get superuser permissions on my phone. A non-rooted android is more useless than a non-smartphone. I'd be willing to pay for it to work but I ain't buying superuser elite unless I have a 100% promise of it working.
Just rooted a LG E720... I bought my phone unlocked and it was loaded with a bunh of junk apps from the original carrier! The phone has a decent Processor but was really slow... Using Gingerbreak and Superuser I pretty much got my phone to be just as quick as some top of the line phones! Also, I highly recommend SetCPU
How I reverted to an older binary without having to do a full restore: 1) Installed AppExtractor. 2) Disabled automatic Market updates. 3) Disabled WiFi. 4) Extracted Superuser.apk from my last full backup. 5) Forcibly installed this version with adb. 6) Used this older Superuser.apk to reinstall an older binary. 7) Rebooted phone. 8) LBE Privacy Guard and TitaniumBackup could again get root reliably.
Not sure if it is safe to update. Last update killed my root and I had to flash a backup to get SU access. Also SU would not update and when I hotfixed it and it finally updated the new binary wasnt working and denied root access to SU. Again had to flash... so is it safe this time??
It is a worthless app. I don't know what this app is doing but it does not do anything does not show anything and force closes no matter what I can never get it to work and it is garbage. And when I say garbage I mean GARBAGE!!! I think they need to remove this app from the App Store completely
Every app I open crashes after "superuser has been granted access to shell". Phone *constantly* blacks out, freezes and has to be restarted. I've rooted every phone I've ever had and never had a problem until using superuser. As far as I've found, no one knows how to disable it and it cant be removed from the phone.
I love it! Simple and safe! Only one thing that seemed to have a problem: updating su binuary keeps failing on my lg optimus ms690 with android 2.2*update* check mark usb debug mode fixes this. Updated su, but didnt see any changes. Not that i really know what that means...
Installed on Samsung Tab 7+, P6200. Binary update failed from 2.3.1-ef to 3.1.1. Failed in phase "copying to /system". Reboot the Tab. Always Failed in phase "making sure new su work". SU Update Fix App, does not detect any error. Force Fix also does not help. Install BusyBox 1.20.2 in /system/xbin and /system/bin do not help as well.
Seemed to be working before, but recently tried to access root, and couldn't. Then I realised that there was no SU binary whatsoever. Won't update, uninstall/reinstall doesn't make a difference. Will upgrade rating if this is fixed.
I had the VM chaser and it updated the Su with no problem then the phone crashed and ordered a replacement. So I have the same phone but it will not "Make sure Su works". My dad has the same problem on his AT&T Samsung Infuse 4g. Please help! Thanks in advanced.
This was working fine for me just yesterday, when I finally rooted (XTC Clip, CWM, and nd Super User). HTC ChaCha/Status. At some point following the most recent update SU started to act slow, or crash ... Installed it from CWM Recovery and everything was fine afterwords. Make it that easy to run as an apk from normal OS mode and will give 5 stars.
Seems all my root needing apps no longer work unless USB Debugging is enabled from boot up. SU Binary updating wouldn't work either until this condition was met. Please fix.
When installing it say, fail. You need the latest version of Busybox, I do that and everything work just fine. I my case I was flashing my CM7 with the 7.2.0 version, next I download the latest Busybox and the last thing, the Superuser update. :)
If you are having issues, do a little homework before whining about the app. Mostly seeing "operator error" type of complaints about this update. If you can figure out how to root your phone in the first place, you can surely figure how to update this app.
This used to work perfect for me now it closes automatically when i try to update binary....it also doesnt show the apps that are prompt by su on the log. Yet, they are still working somehow. I dont understand whats wrong with this but please fix asap. I will rate this app back to 5 stars when fixed.
I love this app because it worked in my Samsung galaxy mini but sometimes it force closes in my tablet it won't work my tablet is cherry mobile fusision aura I don't wanna say to others that they don't download this app it just won't work in my tablet please fix it I know that this app deserves more than 5stars , please reply so I can know what to do
Superuser is outdated and abandoned by the developer. Its unfortunate because I also have the paid version but.... Supersu is available and has an amazing developer team that is active . Go and get it and vote it up!
Since the day I upgraded the binary, my su keeps force closing whenever an app needs to be granted permission. I cannot use any root app becouse su keeps force closing.... Can you help??
Gui is still very glitchy on tablets, and now the su binary update system is broken. I switched to SuperSU and it works flawlessly. Couldn't be happier with it.
Yep, for me / my device it only works / installs when ADB (debug mode) is checked...unchecked and it force closes. Other than that, works great and feel it is still a 5 star app.
This is the countless time I have run into this f---ing problem after an auto update. Please rectify. Next time save the community the hassle and trouble of this before you release an update. People have important and unretreivable information, photos, memories on their phones.
Im on the cm10, superuser always takes few minutes to respond. Now everything work perfectly. Thanks for new update. But I can't see root permission reject app list. So that I have to uninstall app and again install it. So please fix it.
Keep getting "shell has been granted superuser permission" notification all the time. Really annoying. Before update it works just fine but now it sucks..
I never wanted this app and yet I can't uninstall it no matter what I do. Just please tell me step by step what to do. I've rebooted my phone and everything. I still see the stupid superuser on my phone. Very dissatisfied
I'm just installed this app on my Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II tablet. After a reboot the SD card is not present or contains errors. And can not use my tablet. Application can not be removed.
Every device I have had. Crashes. Really really sucks. Other SU's have worked just fine when this one fails. Cheers if you can keep it from crashing. But i shall try no more
Will we ever see updates? The app is great as is but just wondering... No response means no more development? In that case I wish I never purchased this app Still its worth the investment
I was able to update and update the su binary on my Razr with no issues. Updated on my wifes Razr and it fails to regain root while updating su binary. Please help... Update: uninstalled, reinstalled update, rebooted, and everything worked!
I wish I could give it zero cus it very annoying me at this point of time. When I open it, it forces to close and won't allow apps to use super user. Pls help me I real need this to work.
Haaa.... su file is not updating error if I exit superuser and open super user I see the version is not still Updated

Works perfectly before I got a notification to upgrade su binary. and when i did upgrade, superuser always force closes and doesn't give permission to root apps anymore or even a notification for newly installed root apps. Please help me resolve this issue or maybe an update to fix it. Thanks! *update* -tried tuning on usb debbuging and it worked again :)
