CatLog - Logcat Reader!

Used to work really well ☺️, but doesn't seem to do anything now I've upgraded to Android Nougat. I'll really miss this app. ☹️

Seems like a nice app, but cannot figure out how to access the "options" -- there is no "..." on the right side of my soft keys.

Suspicious..... Right after installation. I started it then upon exit. The System Process "Zygote" Requested root access. This process is incapable of such matters....

Having be a CATLOG user best if rooted but will give you a idea of tour resources now the biggest advice is never shut of or disable any application if you can best TO get rid of applications you don't need ,( HINT DO NOT EVER DISABLE OF SHUT OFF ANY APPLICATION INSTEAD LEAVE IT ALONE AND UNINSTALL ANY APPLICATIONS YOU DON'T USE ) submit 07/03/2017

App does not work to my surprise. I am on marshmallow. It just stays with the loading circle indefinately

Great app, and NO ROOT NEEDED! Just use the adb command "adb -d shell pm grant com.nolanlawson.logcat android.permission.READ_LOGS" and you can read all logs without having to root your device or use a custom rom.

If your phone can't handle older apps that require hard buttons you should change phone! To all that don't know how, buy an iPhone instead and don't blame the developer... My S8 will show the three dots in the navigation bar and on my old S7 I long pressed on the back button and it will show the menu. How hard can it be?

How the program obtain root acces? Get confuse

I originally DLed this app to help a developer debug his game. It came in handy a few other times as well for other apps. Recently, however, when I tried using it, I discovered that with the new version of Android, CatLog is blocked from seeing what other apps are doing. It is now effectively useless, unless I decide to root my phone--and maybe one day, I will, but not now. I'll keep it anyway, just in case things change.

I love CatLog! CatLog has helped to fix more apps thany any other item in Android history. It can even fix your car!

Was good, started to glitch out recently. Not usable on a Oneplus One running CM 13

missing material design

Every so often while debugging issues, I come across multiple lines from logcat requesting su, notifications that it has gained/lost focus, etc. It would be very useful if there was a setting to hide any lines containing the package name or uid or other app-specific identifiers (possibly disabled automatically after a crash).

This app helped me a lot. Allowed me to see why my apps crashed so I could fix the bugs. Good job. :)

I wish there was a way to filter logs by error level (warning, info, debug etc)...

Everything works as intended, except when you scroll the text becomes distorted and flashes oddly. Needs to be redone.

Very useful app for developers. Only small negative is that recorded logs stop when you view them. I would like a button to stop them when desired.

For when you're not at your computer and a small bug is nagging you.

Saved a crash log but can't find the save location.

I'd suggest adding a feature to capture only a specific process individually (per app). Other than that it's very helpful indeed. I discovered and fixed many FCs in various apps using Catlog.

READ_LOGS permission is required via pm using adb or shell (and then a restart maybe): adb pm grant com.nolanlawson.logcat android.permission.READ_LOGS After this CatLog still says it requires root, but it works fine without it anyway!

No button for config, how to even save where? Totally user unfriendly.

It's useless for hardware button based device like Samsung ...

An app is crashing and if I have this app running meanwhile, I would maybe get some useful information.

Like other log apps, this also does not have option to set a folder to save all log files.

Functional but UI is stuck in Gingerbread era and it still requires use of menu button to access option.

It shows only log about touch and scroll the listview, I did not see any other log

For info (in case dev not already aware!), there is a graphical glitch when scrolling output in marshmallow on a nexus 5:)

It works as stated in that you can see catch any random force close when trying to figure out an issue, however it seems dev needs to code the menu button for lollipop up. Seems only coded for dedicated hardware button and not soft keys. The 3 dot menu option is not available. This essentially makes the tool useless to me as I need to extract and email the logs. Dev please update app

There's no way top save the logs. The dev likely coded the menu function for phones with a dedicated capacitive menu button.

Useful, but it get weird rendering issues while scrolling. Glyphs remain in place while also moving so the screen becomes unreadable until I stop scrolling. Look into hardware/software rendering plz.

It works without root after enabling the READ_LOGS permission for it, using adb: `pm grant org.jtb.alogcat android.permission.READ_LOGS` and restarting the app. This is needed on the newer Android versions. Please update the description to get one more start.

Please, for the sake of all of the earth's inhabitants, change the ui and app icon.

Cant seem to access the menus without the hardware menu button.

If there's an ability to save to a file, it's so well hidden that it might as well not be there. When the app started, it said something about a widget, but that's all I ever saw about it other than being mentioned in the Play Store. This program is useless as delivered, since there's no way to get the logs off the device - holding my finger on the screen popped up an option to copy to the clipboard, but that was one line only. tested on Samsung Tab S with Android 5.0.2
