Hi everyone, PowerAMP Status Bar Controller (formerlly PowerAMP Controller + Kinect) is an external add in for the famous PowerAMP music player.
This application allows *new* ICE CREAM SANDWICH Mobile devices and Honeycomb+ tablets user to control PowerAMP directly from their notification bar. Moreover, it also has an *experimental* feature of connecting your Microsoft Kinect and control music directly with your hand gestures !
*Features:
+ Control PowerAMP directly from Notification Bar (Quick play/pause/next/previous/volume control).
+ Multiple backgrounds (currently 7) for you to select.
+ FIRST ANDROID APPLICATION featuring connecting with Microsoft Kinect (requires Android 3.1+ for USB Host + USB OTG Cable + ROOT)

Experimental feature, do not rate this application low if it is not working well. Better support will come as soon as skeleton tracking feature is complete
Requirements: USB Host + USB OTG Cable + Seperate power supply for your Kinect + ROOT + Android 3.1
- Connect Kinect to USB host.
- Launch PowerAMP Controller from your app drawer.
- Click on the Kinect icon (may not work the first time of clicking since the application is asking for root permission).
- Tilt camera to suit your need (prefer place without interference).
- Start controlling music with hand gesture.
*Hand gestures:
Work best in range between 1m and 2m
- Spread 5 of your finger vertically in in front of the camera to start/pause music playing.
- Spread 5 of your finger horizontally to the right in in front of the camera to skip to next song.
- Spread 5 of your finger horizontally to the left in in front of the camera to go back to previous song.
- If you do the gesture correctly, the LED on your Kinect will flash green.
This application is provided for free of charge, no string attached!. Please donate (any amount) to support the project even further. If you donate high, I will get your name on future release of the application.

I open poweramp, and the status bar doesn't even show up in the status bar??? And when I pause the song from the original status bar play area, it immediately turns poweramp off completely. Leaving me to go turn it back on. This is all very upsetting to me. I want to see this work and use it as much as I use P. A. It being my fave app. Please fix asap. I will give 5

Simple, when another apps cancels out poweramp it disappears often before i can use it. Notification toggle doesn't. Simples.

please add a fastfwd/rewind slider to notification area. have to keep going back to the player to fastforward/rewind songs thanks. Also, when a song is paused, the app disappears from the notification area. So I have to go back to poweramp and unpause/play it. Please make it such that the app does not disappear when a song is paused. Thank you

The default remote is more practical and useful. The only difference between the two is the useless volume control and the "pretty"-yet-equally useless themes. If the stock version could be disabled, then this would serve somewhat of a purpose. Its small size is the only reason why I even still have it.....for now. Works fine, though. Neutral. UPDATE: App is no longer responsive or functional. Songs no longer change to match the stock remote. Remains frozen in time. Pure crap. Uninstalled.

i'd say it's acceptable in it's experimental stages, but the idea would really be complete if the original poweramp program's notification icon had the play/pause/seek bar/next/back/etc buttons. then you wouldn't need to have a seperate program like this, thus seeing two power amp icons in the status bar.
