TouchDown HD for Android
I have used this app for a few years and the app itself works pretty well. The main problem is with the orange interface since Symantec bought the software. The themes are just ridiculous and the orange color is a bad choice of epic proportions. It is especially bad on text screens to reply pop up and you can't read the text because of the orange color. Update: finally gave up and uninstalled it and switched to a different app.
Used to be THE mail client to have... Not so much anymore. Like everyone else I agree that the app was great until Symantec got ahold of it. Stability issues, lost features, poor UI choices, poor searching, copy and paste issues. Inability to inspect link destinations is dangerous and makes it harder to identify malicious emails or phishing attempts.
This used to work great for years, then suddenly the calendar stopped to update. Both on the phone (S6) and the tablet (Tab S2) the app is no longer functional - not exactly the most exotic hardware one would think. It doesn't appear to be a server problem either - using Nine everything works as it should. Bizarrely the new owners managed to break this app without making any other noticeable changes. So unfortunately, I can't really recommend anyone to use the current version.
Searching your own mail shouldn't be a difficult task. It's almost impossible to perform a search in this app. It often does not return any results even though I know there is an email containing the exact strings that I am searching.
Crashes at least once a day, and after latest update the calander notes are unreadable. More then 3 months and still they can't fix the problem, the consumer service says there's no time-line for the update to ne fixed. If your a corporate, I recommend another company
Used to be great. Now when I reply to emails, the message never gets delivered. That's unfathomable. Tech support was useless. Unfriendly/unsympathetic reply and loaded with tech babble. Didn't help one bit. Uninstalled.
Update: After months of unusable junk from Touchdown I switched to Nine. Nine is infinitely better. Don't put up with Norton's terrible design and decisions. Nine's searching feature actually searches! They got negative feedback for making the main window that ugly Halloween theme and now they throw it on the widget. Also why was the ability to mark all emails as read taken away/moved. I can't find it any more. Usability much? I'm also unable to open emails unless I open them from the widget. The app hangs and crashes whenever I check an email from the main app. Widget emails are not marked as read when opened from the widget. Please QA your shovel-ware....
The app shows an error message saying "Failed to load SDK" on Intel based phones I.e Asus Zenfone2 or Dell venue. Still seems to work though on these devices.
GUI was fine last year, the efforts toward undesirable changes should not be called improvements. This latest update resulted in lost communication with my office. Simply wished I was permitted to use an alternative app.
Simply the best. I am very demanding when it comes to apps as well as when it comes to my professional emails and calendar. Have been testing several different apps, and I am now using Touchdown HD for several years. Just the best one !!!
Cannot be used when displaying phone's desktop to PC with Samsung SideSync. Further Update: Upon testing early versions of 9+, I switched to V8.4. I am using the current version (9.0.00437) since 1 week and it seems that it is ramping up on stability and features. Still testing, but I thought I should give early feedback.
Not useful if it doesn't see, nor sync my own created folders. When is this problem going to be corrected? I paid for license, but I'm dissapointed.
It's fine for the bare minimum of reviewing and responding to work email. But it has bugs that become annoying over time and it lacks features that would make it a program that could be considered a 5 star program for professionals.
Latest update to UI is a considerable improvement, the app is now much nicer to use. Difficult to believe still can't copy and paste.
When attachment (pdf)download is interrupted theres no way to reload it. When sending of outoging email fails it just dissappear. Theres no way to resend or find it in any folder. It really sucks.
It's impossible to read anything in the tiny calendar, the navigation throughout the app is terrible and I can't use fingerprint to unlock (but here I'm not sure whether my company is blocking this or the app doesn't support it.)
My biggest gripe about this app is that there is no way to have it send emails easily to people that have emailed you without manually adding them to your contacts if they aren't in your AD. Even Gmail gives you that feature and has for years!
Search only works if you don't press search (when you type criteria it starts filtering), no outbox so unknown if email is sent and unable to recover message contents if it doesn't which is most of the time
Since the new upgrade to the S7 Edge the app freezes up the phone or will not load at all. It's terrible and very frustrating. Still does not work now. Please fix.
Does not keep up to date with the server. If the email is read on the server but not in the app...the app has it unread. Notifications stull pop up after they have been dismissed
The user interface is much improved. It could be better, but the large range of options more than makes up for it.
This app is unstable and needz to be regularly reinstalled because the synchronization with exchange breaks. IT teams can't seem to stabilize it.
The worst email app ever! UI is catastrophic and totally incoherent.
After the last update, foreign language in the calendar is gibberish.
I had to install it due to my company procedures. Stay away from it. Worse SW ever.
Unusable because syncs 1 account but refuses to sync additional account.
Every single time it updates it breaks my sync details.
Much better way to access corporate mail. Wish it had an android wear companion for agenda access on my watch.
Poor UI, random unable to sync, general pain to use.
Although no problem for me. But Nine is way much stronger
I have been using this app for more than 3 years and it has been the best email app for me.
Slow, unresponsive, and unstable.
Calendar freezes constantly.
After the trial period what next
Touchdown is so much better than MS Office Outlook.
Weak....
Aug 31, 2016. It sucks!! Every time the upgrade is installed, it deletes all mail settings and need to recreate entire accoynt. REALLY!??? >> original review: For the 3rd time TD lost all linked contacts and now Android can't see any contacts even though the option is selected. Had enough! Also the UI is years behind.
Why would Symantec purchase this really decent product and then let it languish? I switched to "Nine" email after TouchDown incompatibilities with latest Android version. Was already fed up with the awful search capabilities in TouchDown, and its inability to easily find recently contacted email addresses. This used to be a leading edge product, but it hasn't kept up. Symantec, do your homework! Bye for now.
I have used this app for several years. Since Symantec took over this app has gone to $#!+. Most of the time I have to kill the app and restart it just to get it to open. Calendar invites now show the year as 1969. Sending messages are hit and miss. I can not search my emails. I have even tried searching for the most recent email received and it still shows nothing. I can not pull up my contacts. It has become perfectly useless!

PROS: An even better GUI, Excellent Customer Support! Great Office365 E3 Outlook connectivity, critical to my business. Touchdown Tech Support is responsive, informed, and effective. The feature set and options are a 'Must Try' if you are looking for a great Android Outlook interface. The newer 'Touchdown HD' is a solid GUI improvement, and, if Touchdown VENUS is "HD with improvements", I think we're go. CONS: It can be a little slow. The meeting times can be an hour off during the 2 weeks a year, when there is a Daylight Savings Time. My biggest complaint is that this is the 2nd or 3rd year of this problem. Overall, very nice.
