I don't see why a book app needs my phone and email. I can't proceed without signup that has 4 steps. Huh. It is useless to claim that because we trust Facebook with our info we should trust you too. In case of Facebook the value is already know. Not to mention they have to comply with FTC laws where as you don't. Can't see how number and birthday can potentially really make a book app more safer.
