NHL for Android
The only method of watching hockey, however it keeps freezing the video especially when a goal is scored. Also on chrome when you try to apply full screen by scrolling down it goes into very small mode, doesn't do this on explorer. When it works this app is great, however greatness occasionally doesn't make a great experience
Was wonderful then it was updated now I can't listen to audio to save my life. Immediately crashes. Tried reinstalling multiple times. No good. Sad really....I loved the old team app and this one before it stopped. Now working again almost as good as original. Still miss my Stars app though. Update working great love the app. Still miss old app.
I don't need multiple reminders throughout a game telling me to watch a game that I'm already watching on the same or different device using NHL account. Chromecast sometimes shows error still but much better than it was at start of season. Otherwise a good app. Nexus 5X
The ap is what it is, live action on my HTC-EVO4g. Awesome regardless of its negatives...there are way too many positives to not rate this anything but 5 stars. --- occasionally logging in takes several tries. Busy network no doubt. Only issue I have experienced. Sprint las Vegas. UPDATE (5 years later): Samsung Note5 Verizon. When connected to 4g network/WiFi everything loads and works flawlessly. Lets go Red Wings !...oh and NHL in Vegas --- Golden Nights
The only reason I have this app is because I'm forced to have it as I can't have my Bruins app anymore. I live in FLORIDA and can't exactly switch on NESN... they can't even get the scores right. Give me back my Bruins App. Quit trying to force people into what they don't want. The only reason it's been downloaded so much is because hockey fans don't have a damn choice anymore. Ridiculous. Update... this app still sucks.
Annoyed I was forced to take this app. Give me my wings app back. No Joe goal horn anymore- missing that AND the notifications. The notifications for this app do NOT work; no matter how many times I enable them. Quite annoying to lose a perfectly good app and be force fed mediocrity. GIVE ME BACK MY WINGS APP!!!
Loved this App before the latest update! I was able to watch videos in categories of Glorious Goals, Editor's Picks, etc. I'll get notifications randomly saying NHL has to go close even though I'm not using it. I can barely stream a live game but forget trying to watch highlights or even read a game recap!! They updated the app on the Xbox and same issues! Change it back to the old app or fix this one really soon! Missing out on some great games...
It's a good app. It gives me updates on the scores easily and quickly. It gives me the standings which I like. The only minor complaint I have is when you look up a teams schedule to see their past results it doesn't tell you if games were won/lost in OT or SO which is important in the standings. You have to click it and check the box score which is a bit annoying. But overall its still very good.
The high nerve of this stupid company to charge me, then serve me ads so they can make even more money, have a absolute garbage experience then ask me to leave a nice rating. Rogers in a nutshell. Logs me out randomly. Hide score function turns on and off. Favourites and unfavourites my team, and best of all, greedy Rogers put ads at the bottom of an app that I have a subscription for. Unbelievable. Quality is brutal if more than 2 games are on in the league at once, so forget watching hockey on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
I don't have tv and this is my only link to hockey and I love this app. Being able to listen to all the games is a life saver because I have to have hockey in my life to be complete. Please make sure you keep the ability to listen to games for us folks who live in the middle of nowhere. It is helpful for fantasy hockey too
It's a good app IMHO, it replaced the Lightning app I had. But I love hockey and for 2.99 per month it's extra features are well worth it. I like getting video highlights of all games . Crashes are very rare, at least on my device
Good for seeing schedule and watching lots of games. The blackouts are horrible. You aren't able to watch everyone of your local teams games. If your team isn't local then you're good, but if you cheer for your cities team this app isn't the best
You can follow teams and get notifications of goals, game scores, start times etc. Plus you can get news and highlights. There is also a way to listen to some games should you not be able to watch them. This app is great and it is free. What more could you want.
I like that it doesnt bombard me with notifications like the espn app does. Its very timely with start time, goals, and final score updates. I do have to ding it for forgetting my favorite team choice a lot. Its only 2 clicks to my teams page though, so its a minor annoyance.
The latest update has been solid. No more article crashes or video crashes. My favorite feature is game audio, they have the home and away broadcast. Now I can listen to Blackhawks Radio 720 WGN! Stats and standings are sleek yet simple.
Way better before the update. Wish I could give negative stars. No way this deserves 3.8. Must have some people paid to rate it a 5, cause this NEW app is terrible. Deleting now. Complete garbage
New version of app is junk.., buffers constantly and when it is streaming video quality is poor. Obviously they were not ready for roll out. One year later... Still frustrated... Just downloaded new update and same issues. Constant buffering and poor picture quality.
I have used this app in some form for years. It has always had launch problems. As of today it doesn't work at all. As a revenue paying user, I find this unacceptable. This must be fixed before the season starts. Revised considerably since I wrote that in 2014. Much better now. And infinitely more stable.
Everything good except swiping to see who scored goals/assists is annoying. When you swipe to view it bounces back unless you long hold swipe. Also add at the bottom makes it hard to view goals/assist for the game at the bottom on the list.
I love this app and I can't live without it... It is by far my favorite app on my phone... The only issue I have is even while paying the yearly subscription that my local home teams broadcast is blacked out. There is no reason for this that I can see... If I lived on the west coast I would watch my team's games but bc I live close to the team I can't? Even when it's the free game of the week or night it's still blacked out because of location... Please fix this issue so fans like me can watch their favorite local home teams games... Thanks
Great app! Follow all the NHL games via box score, watch live games and highlights. Great source for NHL news including stories of interest and trades. Would be better if there was an updated and current list of all NHL injuries by team.
My only disappointment is that my phone cannot go into sleep mode while I'm listening to a game broadcast. The game just goes into buffering and won't continue to load of the phone goes to sleep. Since I'm usually only listening to the game when I'm driving, it's really inconvenient to have the screen active while I'm driving.
Currently has the wrong score and the wrong stats for the sens caps game. The current score is 3-0 with 2 pp goals. The 3rd goal was several (more than 5 minutes ago). It also shows ppg for the first but the stats show 0/2. Always wants me to download it again.
Decent to great app, however it hi-Jacked the individual team's Apps which is unacceptable....but worthy of 4 to 5 stars with live feed, live updates, and awesome quality videos...needs : more on time updates....half the period is over before the video of the goal or score changes. Go Red Wings
I'm getting non stop MLB posts in the NHL app. I know it's not hockey season, but if I wanted to see MLB stuff I would download an MLB app. Also getting every NHL team's tweets in every team specific tab. Wtf is this garbage?
A very good app. Neat features such as the goal horn sounds when followed team scores or wins. Very accurate monitoring the time during gameplay. Very good with notifying user with alerts or breaking news. It is nice free games are commonly offered to watch.
I am a Blackhawks fan living out of market in Las Vegas and the app lets me easily stream the radio feed from every game! The only downfall of course is the 30-second delay in broadcast.
You can use this as an all-in-one hockey app. You view scores, highlights, game summary wrap, box score, and if you have a subscription, it is the app for NHL.tv. I also use this app for my half-season ticket plan. I manage my tickets and do mobile check-in right from the app. The only negative is that when I get my tickets scanned at the front entrance to the arena, it already times out by time I get to my seat. I have to login again to show my usher my tickets and that's a pain when you're holding beer/concessions in your hands.
Considering I live in the New Orleans Metro area I can watch my favorite team with the NHL.TV subscription & I also can get lots of information on my team or any team. Colorado Avalanche is my favorite team.
100% improvement in the app since MLB advance media took over the NHL digital content. Picture, video and other related content is better since the take over by MLBAM. I now recommend this app to my friends.
A decent app, but in such an app-dominated world, this one falls short with the UI even after they've been updating for years. Namely, my current biggest complaint is the news feed swiping requires way too much motion. Just let it glide with each swipe, don't have it be so rigid as it is now.
Good app when it works, since having it for 3 years almost now. Only have had one really bad experience where games wouldn't load no matter what you did.
Really annoying that the app resets and can't remember any settings. Also they make it easier to find game content like highlights and recaps.
Good for catching games, schedules, news and standings. Blackouts are robbery. Forget playoffs/all star wknd or any game nationally televised. Use a VPN with a foreign location to dodge some of the blackouts. Post game stats, roster, box score and app design upgrades are made often and typically send the app in the wrong direction or cause errors. I liked the app better in past years. The app could and should be a lot better.
Streams well. Wish there were no blackouts. I emailed nhl saying I'd gladly pay more, but stupid cable companies ruin everything.
I can't view nationally televised games. I'm not able to view them because I do not have cable or am not always home yo watch them. If I was able to watch them with the app, I would rate 5 stars. I pay for the service, I should be able to watch EVERY game.
App crashes frequently when left idle for more than a few seconds. Great features otherwise but hate having to constantly reload the app.
App has been working better after recent updates. However, lack of coverage for "in-market" games and games on the NHL network make this a somewhat difficult investment.
I follow the Anaheim Ducks and originally stuck to their app. Now that app just forwards me to this app so I have to use this one. I used the app to listen to games while at work and working out but this app disconnects 3-6 times a game. A bit frustrating when compared to my Ducks app which did not. It's also less user friendly in its layout compared to the other app. Oh and push notifications do not work at all. Please give me back my Ducks app NHL. It wasn't broken so why did you think it needed fixing?

Not bad. Lots of really good info in the games scores, but unfortunately it's very hard to find. Navigation in general is not intuitive, and space in the UI is not used very efficiently. I appreciate the depth of info, but if it's not organized well, it's less effective. Notifications are hit/miss, too. Looks good overall, and lots of good info, but needs some refinement. Always felt like a good "beta" to me. Still, quite an improvement since MLBAM took over dev!
