Next Glass – Drink Smart

This app seemed great at first. It was awesome to connect with friends and see their drink ratings along side my own. Now, this app has lost so much functionality and seems completely broken.

This app has a ton of potential for wine drinkers that want to venture to beer and beer drinkers that want to venture into wine. However I have rated 72 different drinks and it os still telling me it cannot find any recomendations and I have to keep rating to build my flavor profile... How many drinks do you need to rate to get recommended drinks? Is it cause I have a diverse field of drinks I like and dislike?

I've tasted about 100 drinks and it still can't give me any recommendations. How many does it take?

The app only permits 1 through 4 star rating which is way too crude a system. And no text to qualify or quantify the Stars. On the upside it seems as if its being used a lot as there are way more products listed now than when I first started using it a year or two ago.

Good idea, bad execution. Most beers that I have searched for are not on this app. I guess it would work great if you like mainstream beers, but that would defeat the purpose of this app.

Great idea that crashed in 2 weeks. Love the features, great interface, worked great for 2 weeks, allowed me to log 30-40 beers, then consistently crashed with "server error". Rats.

TLDR; this app is super shady Needs too much personally identifiable information. Needs access to the camera for some reason, needs an account rather than just letting you try it as a guest, needs your facebook, your twitter, or your birthday. Way too much information requested by this app to be worth keeping it.

Used to be a 5star, app has not worked in a while now. Very disappointing. Used to be spot on with suggestions and ratings. Hope it gets fixed.

I rated 30 or 40 beers and it still ain't recommend anything for me. What a joke.

Kind of useless app as it assumes you have access to every product made.

I've rated 20 beers but still can't get any recommendations, even though it said I'd only need one of each star rating.

This used to be a helpful app. It would give good recommendations but recently has not been working I don't know what happened to the app.

Definitely helpful in selecting a new beer based on previous beer selections. However, need more beer options that have been reviewed, especially craft beers.

This is like the "Netflix"of beer rating. What a great concept. The only flaw...Is...He library is small...They can add beers not on there but at this point they have the beer I type in about 65 to 70 percent of the time. If they can build the library then this app is perfect!

looking for an app to find beers similar to what i know I like already. I went ahead and loaded this up and did the "setup" but found I still do not have enough of a profile. Continued to search for beers and add more. I would think that 22 would be a good number but nope have to keep going for a recommendation. I would say this is more for the developer to sell info to brewers versus helping drinkers find a similar taste. Not impressed but will check back later and see if it improves. Also Many brews I like are not found! I think the spectrometer aspect will NOT give good matches versus other users info. Untapped has this beaten.

On OPO running CM13...but other than that good - not sure about recommendations just started. Update: just the preview doesn't work appears to take pic just fine...

I like this app but it needs to have a share feature

Awesome idea for an app and nice clean design but I've rated 25 beers and wines and I'm still not getting any recomondations! How many reviews do you have to make before they start coming in??

I love the app and how it gives me recommendations for beer and wine. would you ever think of adding a tracker and recommendation type thing for liquor?

I love the science behind the suggestions, but I wish there was a description of the beers.

I'm fairly new to the wine/beer world and I'm still experimenting with what types of beverages I enjoy. This app is definitely beneficial to my search for what I prefer. I live in Wilmington and I'm happy I can support a local entrepreneur! There's a few drinks I like that is missing from the database but it's easy to request them to be added. I hope that this gets more popular among my friends so we can share info.

Really enjoy the app and the correlation engine for taste profiles. Really well done. But I just checked my app permission logs and I see Next Glass continually checking my location. Not cool. What gives? Tell me that's a bug, you'll fix it, and I'll both re-enable the permission and re-do this review. Or something like that.

Pretty awesome app with some good suggestions. Needs more beers/wines, but they're always adding more. Definitely worth a shot if you like trying new things!

I've rated 18 beers and the app still tells me I have to rate more to receive a rating on other beers..

Used to be a decent app, but has recently been failing to open. In addition, every time I turn on my phone I'm greeted with "unfortunately Next Glass has stopped".

If the drink is not in the database, I can only request to add it, but can't rate it.

They don't cover the variety of quality beers from out west, and make recommendations for east coast beers that aren't readily distributed in the west.

Ok get a recommended wine... then search like an idiot in all stores sorted by country... like every store on the planet... drinks don't have their country of origin... just STUPID & 100% USELESS... you would think something like "details" would tell you, or it would be on the card.. but NOPE.... where to look for a wine? Is it California? Italy? France? Canada? South africa? New zealand? .. who knows... just browse 20 aisles aimlessly like an idiot

The app gave some good recommendations for your next glass, but was great when having friends over who used the app and needed to know what growler or 6 pack to pickup. For some coy reason, they stripped this feature and the number one reason my wife and I use it. "Maybe" they will bring it back "if" they make it better, although it already worked pretty well. Perfect is the enemy of shipped, and users adoption I guess.

I use this app for tracking my ratings and wishlist, for which it's the best thing I've found. They are always growing the database which is cool, though I do occasionally run into local brews that aren't in it. The recommendations are quite a bit better after the update, but because so many of them are imports or local brews they can be really hard to find. They said they're adding location based filtering in the future which will improve the recommendations a ton. Thanks for the response about how you guys test the drinks, btw! It seems neat, though since I can't actually see how the drinks scored in-app it doesn't have too much meaning to me. I don't know if this is really an issue or not though, as I haven't been making much use of the recommendations due to the location thing mentioned above.

The last 4 beers I tried to find are not listed. App developers need to do better updating app. Uninstalled

Kudos to the developers for always trying to improve their app. My only wish is that I could sort by recommendation rating so I could add all the 90+ to my wish list.

They don't even have Hop Slam Ale from Bell's Brewery on the list of beers to choose from. It needs soooo much work, are you guys hiring?

Works well but has a limited range of drinks. Particularly deficient in Texas wines.

So as soon as I got in to the app, I tried searching for Alexander Keith's. NOPE! it's a popular beer in Canada, from Atlantic (Eastern) Canada. If this app doesn't even have this beer, this app will likely be no good for me. It failed to find other beers as well. Seemed like just the app I was looking for, too, since I wanted an easy way to keep track of the beers I've tried and liked/disliked. But if the database is severely lacking (for Canadians), then I'm out for now. Sorry, guys.
