For many years many issues have gone unresolved. Buggy. Navigation is clunky, just horrible. Shows headline only, no summary, in an awkward thumbnail type slider. App does its best to discourage use of the traditional and far more usable newspaper layout. That layout has no auto download option, it often gets stuck on old issues (requiring a reinstall to resolve) or has download issues. No way to comment or read comments in app. Generally a poorly designed app with a forced awkward and forgotten interface.
Even slower now! Almost as if they don't want you to use it. Going to it another month or so and if no improvement cancel my subscription. Latest update seems to have made it more stable and actually usable. Still loses offline editions regularly so they must be downloaded again.
Print edition/News Stand frustratingly unreliable. Current day's Print Edition doesn't show up... Refresh the screen - no change. Downloaded Print Edition disappears erratically from the Library, requiring repeat downloads. Reported it/uninstalled it/reinstalled etc... no change... still stuffed! About time someone took a long look at this App and it's development as well as News' response to customer complaints. This App is the key to the extra subscription fee being charged for the Digital/Print Edition.
Experiencing the same issues as others. The front screen comes up but I can't access the articles without reinstalling every day. Annoying and frustrating that I can't catch up with the news through the app. Used some of the tips I sourced with limited success. When is does work it's great
Does not work on my Android phone. Can read the headlines but tapping on a story mostly brings up a blank page with no content visible. . If you reinstall it it works the first time you use it but not after that. So to use it you have to reinstall it everday.
I'm in the middle of reading an article from an earlier edition, I lock the screen and go do something else for a few minutes, and it resets itself to the front page of today's edition. I then have to renavigate to the article. I HATE it when apps do this. It makes it almost unusable. You also can't bookmark articles for future reference. You share from the app. Pathetic really. Update: also often asks to login regularly. Update 2: now insists on an Internet connection, even though I downloaded it to read later. Getting worse and worse.
If you look at subscribing to download the Daily editions don't waste your time and money. Slow and crashes on wifi and near impossible on cellular data. Waste of time and money
This is a great newspaper to read however the application is infuriating in that it doesn't matter how many times I try to access the digital paper it will not load!
For what I am paying for the digital subscription this app should be a lot better than what it is now. The app seems to only update once a day so you will be reading the same stories all day. What I've been doing is going to there website to read breaking/updated content. The app makes you click a 'click for next section' button once you have scrolled through 6 stories to view more content which seems bizarre. Very disappointed with the app. I did contact their customer support but no response.
Great quality news let down by a disappointing app experience. Experiencing many of the same issues as other users. Contacted customer support who did not have a solution.
annoying to have to search in google play to 'open' the already (re)installed app (every OTHER icon in the world shows on my phone)
The app works in some fashion. But it has serious problems. (A) Forgets the last download and you have to download again. (B) The headline links hardly ever works. (C) The screen zooming is not enough when reading the print edition. Not good enough for a relatively expensive app.
Need to exit and reload all the time. This used to be much better than recently. Considering reverting to the print edition.
App is full of bugs. Slow to load. Will often have downloaded digital editions disappear and go back to old editions. This is annoying when you want to read the current paper with no wifi.
Continuously crashes. Files disappear after download. Customer support don't have a clue
Deleted, reloaded, restarted etc. Doesnt matter what i do, just cant get this app to work any more. Anyone got any answers?
Buggy app, slow to update and fails to consistently update all the supplements. Have to uninstall and reinstall regularly. Unlikely I'll keep subscribing to this service, come on news limited...
The content is good; however, I have tried finding ways to share an article, but I just can't find it. It would be nice if there was a share link on the app so we don't have to keep on logging into the internet all the time.
Must be reloaded a number of times to access content (app itself is very buggy). Also, the subscription service itself is very poor. Can only cancel subscription by calling during business hours and waiting until you can get an operator who you have to convince that you really really do want to cancel your subscription.
I load it but there is no login access for me as a subscriber: all that happens is that I am trapped in a program loop back to 'Open' or 'Uninstall'. After my fourth attempt achieved the same result I feel 'UNSUBSCRIBE' is the right action!
Horrible app, biggest gripe (on top of issues mentioned below) is the inability to access the navigation menu. For some reason this has been removed in a recent update, makes the app very difficult to use. Only way to skip to another section is to swipe through every article. Tried to contact The Australian tech support but they could not assist.
I like the content, but presentation is clunky. Today's news don't appear when I open it in the morning. It's yesterday's issue. Very difficult to navigate.
Very basic news app, can't read comments about stories, can't make comments, truncated stories, in a word, crap!
Take many attempts to load the days paper
Buggy. Articles don't display. And not just one or two, but some days i will click on three articles before i can read it.

Newspaper often only loads a few pages. Not a patch on Newsreader.

Samsung tab 3 I used to enjoy reading The Australian in Press Reader in the digital print edition. I thought that the Austalian app should be a step ahead of this, but it is no where near being better. In actual fact it is a pain to use. It is slow, hard to load new issues, and cannot even get the right day of the week!
App freezes and needs to be restarted often. No big deal but it makes reading the paper online a less satisfying experience.
Would be better if the app format allowed it to be read like a paper and enable to zoom in as you could via press reader which was great until news Corp stopped providing it's papers to them. The press reader app is the best app for online reading

Love the newspaper and the app was once great. Now the morning newspaper takes ages to load and keeps crashing out or reloading. I don't know what has gone wrong. And yes, I have completely unistalled deleted residual files and reinstalled to no avail. This is so annoying I am questioning my subscription.
