“The solution answers a wish from many private users and businesses, to establish a user-friendly and transparent [invoice] agreements. The distance to customers becomes shorter, as payment and communication between businesses and customers can happen in real time. This should substantially improve the customer experience,” says CEO Mark Wraa-Hansen, Head MobilePay, to DR.
Today more than 3,4 million Danes use the service regularly for transferring money and paying at retailers
MobilePay is expecting to have the new services available by summer. It will be free for individual users, and charge businesses.
Even though MobilePay has a strong grip on the market, its future is far from secured. As EU-wide payment regulations and infrastructure evolve, customers are becoming less dependent on banks as middle men, which opens up opportunities for new digital challengers.
