About Smile - Smart Photo Annotation
Are you tired from taking pictures and then not being able to find them in between the hundreds of pictures on your smartphone?
Are you tired of typing on your smartphone keyboard to add tags to your photos?
Do you want to take pictures and add text or speech/audio to it, so you can later one share the lot with a friend or a colleague?
Do you want to add text or speech information to your photo for documentation purposes?
Smile is for you!!
Smile is a camera and picture gallery application that helps you to immediately voice-tag or annotate your photos, and add the information as metadata. Smile will then automatically extract the text (annotation) from the speech using speech recognition technology and will embed the text annotation and the speech as meta data inside the picture. This way you have full text about the picture, as metadata. So if you are searching for a picture in the hundreds of pictures you have on your phone, you can find them easily using Smile's Search facility. Even more, with Smile you can share the photo with friends, with or without the speech and text. Your friends or colleagues can see the picture (if they don't have Smile), and with Smile they can see the picture, the text and listen to the speech. Great for fun, quick greeting photos, work if you need to take photos with record, expense receipts, and many more uses.
You can also share a photo (with the audio) as a video with friends or on social networks, or add captions to photos.
Smile speech recognition automatically generate multiple suggestion. You can pick a suggestion, edit, or enter a new one. With Smile you can even go through old pictures, or pictures taken using other apps or cameras, annotate them or voice-tag them and text annotation will be extracted using speech recognition. No need to type on your smartphone keyboard!!
Features
Immediate Voice Annotation: can be performed following the taking of a picture by the means of a brief voice recording. Smile uses automatic speech recognition to extract text from speech, and store the voice, together with the text, as metadata inside the picture file. One or more text suggestions are stored. You pick from suggestions, and edit the annotations.
Editing and Viewing Annotations: You can edit annotation text, view annotation suggestions, and/or create and add text annotation to any JPEG pictures, whether taken using Smile or any other camera app, or actual camera.
Voice Annotation and Re-annotation: If you have skipped the annotation after taking a picture, or you want to voice-annotate or re-annotate pictures even if taken by other apps (JPEG pictures), then no problem, you can voice-annotate old pictures or voice re-annotate already annotated pictures.
Sharing: You can share pictures using Smile. You have the option of stripping any Smile metadata from the shared picture. When metadata is not stripped, shared picture includes the annotation (text and voice) inside the JPEG picture. People you share the picture with can view all the shared information using the Smile application. If the shared picture is opened/previewed using another app or browser (e.g. from Facebook, Google Drive, etc...), then the picture will be seen but any other shared annotation info, if any, will not be visible or audible.
You can also share pictures as videos (to include audio), and inset automatically captions over pictures.
Search: You can search your pictures and return any picture that has a text annotation that includes the search term.
Nicknames: You can define nicknames of people, pets, locations, and objects to enhance speech recognition accuracy.

The text-to-speech accuracy is so-so but the biggest problem is that I can't export the text thus making the app useless except for looking at your photos on an android device using the app.
