Orangetheory OTbeat for Android
I just joined Orangetheory. Love the workout and the booking app! However, the OT beat app sucks! I cannot even login using the correct email and password. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck. I even called my home studio because that's what the error message told me to do, and they had no idea how to resolve the problem. Please resolve the issue now!
I cant get the OTB monitor to sink with my phone. Monitor works at the gym and phone recognizes the sensors Bluetooth signal and other Bluetooth devices. So I've narrowed it down to the app not linking the phone to the sensor. Therefore, i can't do a workout outside of a class and get "splat point" credits. If this isn't fixed I'll likely drop membership all together.
Recognize Meeeeee!!! I can log into the booking app. I tried logging in to this app. Boooo. I'm using the same login info for the booking app. I tried selecting "forgot password" thinking maybe I'll just make a new password...no biggie. WRONG! The monitor app doesn't even recognize the EXACT SAME email I used that's on my contract when i signed up and for the booking app. Yo, these 1 star ratings are adding up and don't look good. Please fix as i would love to get the most out a heart rate monitor i paid good money for.
Inconsistent functionality is the main issue. App stops working midworkout and I won't even know it until I check later to see that none of my cals or splat points were counted. Have to continually restart it. Total waste of time, needs serious dev work. Lots of better apps out there that'll work with the OT heart rate monitor. This one's getting uninstalled asap.
Lack of means to add a workout description is a major miss. How can one gauge fitness improvement for in-kind workouts without knowing of what a workout consisted? And what about the ability to simply measure resting heart rate from the app without having to do so within the context of an 'out of studio workout'? Lastly, users shouldn't be restricted to using only OTbeat HR monitors with the app if s/he owns a more sophisticated and/or functional unit.
I re downloaded the otbeat app on a new phone and now i cant log into this stupid app. I keeps saying that it doesn't recognize my login info. Can't reset password because i keep getting an error message. Very annoyed. I like to use this app forcmy gym workouts to make dure im working out at my fat burning zone the full time. PLEASE FIX THIS!!! OR GET RID OF THIS APP AND COMBINE THE THE TWO!
First some irony: orange rating via mostly 1 stars. Same as nearly everyone else. Why 2 apps? Why does one work and the other not (not able to log in)? Why does OTF not have a professional IT team to deal with problems? Why is there ZERO feedback from someone at OTF to all the negative comments and low ratings?
For some reason there are two apps. The OT Beat app, and the OTF Booking app (this is the OTBeat app). There should only be one, first of all. Second--my issue is that my first workout shows up under "my attendance" tab in the booking app, but is not registered in the OTBeat app, nor is it applied to the goal I set for burning calories. I assume this is because I was not a "member" yet (I was doing the free first class thing), but that doesn't make any sense. I still got a performance summary for my first class e-mailed to me; my account is under the same e-mail address, and if the booking app can see I attended, why are my results not fed into the OTBeat app? Again, there should not be two apps. Not a terribly big deal, but kind of important for a program that emphasizes keeping track of your results to enable me to actually keep track of ALL my results.
Finally able to log in (I had to shorten by password online). Now I can't pair the app with my heart monitor. It also doesn't have any info on my first two workouts. Can't understand why this is so difficult.
This app is awful!! The sensor won't sync to the app so that workouts outside of the studio can be tracked. This was one of the selling points presented to me when I joined. Very unfortunate that it doesn't work.
One of the supposed benefits of this app is the ability to sync your heart rate monitor to monitor other workouts.... unfortunately it only syncs with the chest strap and most of us have the wrist monitor now, so that is one of the major reasons for the low review. This is something I would consider to be a critical feature. Otherwise, I like the ability to schedule classes and check my past performance, plus the app itself is sleek and easy to use.
Spending 30 minutes fighting with this to pair is only out done by it dropping out 10 minutes into your work out. Not sure if it's the app, the phone, or the HRM. Regardless of which it is it shouldn't be this difficult and deflate an otherwise good workout by not working.
The app works great! I did have trouble logging in at first, but contacted my OTF location and the problem was resolved immediately. I did email the support team for the app and they did reply fast, but my location had already taken care of the problem.
App recognizes my email and allows me to log in however when trying to book out of studio sessions it attempts to charge me for sessions. Have tried changing email address, reinstalled app, forget password to reset and nothing works. Very frustrating as I'm on the go and not being able to use the app makes it difficult for me when needing to book sessions or cancel sessions. Have reached out to my studio to help however no one seems to know why it keeps doing this.
For the cost of our membership this app leaves a lot to be desired. Many changes could be made to make it seamless. I'm currently struggling with workouts from multiple studios not syncing and having to log in separately for studios. Not going to cancel membership over this, but come on! Please?
Liked it a lot, but doesn't recognize me anymore. Just logged me out one morning and that was it - doesn't recognize my email (website does). Very disappointed in this app. Oh, and no one at OTF seems to be able to help. Please fix!!
After giving a 4 star rating to this app, I had to give it a 3. During a few out of studio joggjng, the app would freeze during my workout and doesn't save my performance. I thought it was a signal issue but I jog during sunny Florida days so there's no excuse. PLEASE FIX. I use it for all my workouts. Suggestion: Allow us to document titles for each performance summary. I use this app for my OT, kickboxing and jogging workouts. I would love to be able to know which workout I performed on a particular day.
Horrible!! Can't even log in, which is really scammy....because they sell you on the fact you can use the heart rate monitor you have to buy in addition to the membership outside of class ... nope you can't. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well. Seems to be the most reoccurring complaint. Really upsetting to be misled before and after i purchased my membership. This will certainly make me reconsider recommending OTF to anyone and keeping my membership.
Could not log in. Even after asking at front desk. App not taking my email address and password. Very disappointed. This was a big reason i joined OrangeTheory
I love the concept but I have to uninstall/re-install every single time I want to use the app. This is beyond frustrating, please fix the app for Droid users. For anyone having issues with it not recognizing your email, it could be because you have 2 email addresses on file. Your location needs to combine them, at least that was my issue. Once combined I didn't have login problems.
Does NOT pair to my device for out of studio workout. I tried on the Google piXEL and now on the Samsung galaxy s8+. Doesnt work on either phone. It used to work on my iPhone. PLEASE FIX OR RESPOND TO THE OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. PLEASE let us know that you are working on this issue. It's so FRUSTRATING!!!
It should tell you your heart rates as well as your %. Terrible irritating to not have number we need. Also, should have just a feature that measures your heart rate outside of the "workout" feature.
I can't log in it keeps telling my password or location is incorrect. Spoke to the front desk at my location and they have no idea why it won't work. Very sad seems like it would be a good app if it worked.
In general the app is fine. It syncs well with my wrist HRM for my out of studio workouts. My frustration is the incredible delay in getting the summary review. It used to arrive within minutes of the end of the workout, just like the emails. But now it's taking 3-4 hours before it refreshes.
Like the majority of users, I can't even log in. I joined in January and the app didn't work. It's now March 1st and the app still doesn't work. Very frustrating. Hopefully a better app is released soon; I would really like to use this at home.
I'm a member. Provided my home studio and email and password used for the booking app. Doesn't recognize me. Can't even reset as it doesn't recognize my email. It's a useless app.
Doesn't link any of my device data. When I click on 'performance data' - it's completely empty. Verified that it was connected to my devices, unlinked, relinked - no changes. Has never worked. Not once.
Says login/ password is incorrect. Won't let me try and change the password, says my email is wrong! At Shoreline, Wa OTF
Frustrating!!!! Nearly impossible to connect, and once connected continues to disconnect and freeze. Hope they fix it soon, time to find a different app for non OT days.
Would love to use this app but I can't even log on. It won't recognize my email, which is exactly the same one that I use for the booking app. And I have to go to another place to inquire for assistance - the help app only refers you to contact the front desk of your home studio. Would really prefer to have the booking app and this one combined into a single place rather than have to keep track of two seperate apps.
The app is easy for booking classes, but still sometimes won't have the button available to sign up or book. It's like a weird bug on some times. Also, it doesn't sync my performance data from the class to my app, or even send me an email anymore.
The audio prompt stops my music from playing, and the music has to be manually started again over and over. Doesnt happen in iOs version. Min/Max HR stats would be nice. Update to my review, since latest update the app can't find my HR monitor.
There's a theme with this issue... Many appear to have experienced this issue. Apparently the main app allows for more characters in the password than this app. Keep characters at 14 or below (I think) and it should work. I haven't tested this in class yet, so we'll see regarding functionality.
The app doesn't sync with my workouts and the heart monitor will not pair with my Samsung Edge phone or Samsung tablet: "Pairing rejected by OTbeat."
The other day I had 5 entries of the same date posted but my latest one never did. I re-installed and refreshed but my workout today still isn't pulling up.
My home gym is not listed and I can't log in. This makes the app useless. Please update with all gyms or at least add Westshore BC Canada. EDIT: Home gym was added! Thank you. Workout summaries are great. Takes several hours for the summary to appear though. Haven't tried the out of gym workout, looking forward to how well it tracks the data.
I can't sign up for classes at other gyms using the app without having to pay. So annoying to have to call and have the staff sign me up, when it'd be way easier to handle it myself using the app or website.
This is dumb. Why are these separate apps and not just a single app? Can only add one studio....should improve original app first
Studio integration is a necessity. Can we fix the email messages at least so they look right and contain the class information (like the type of class, instructor, etc) need to also allow the studio to modify the account for max heart rate, this won't ever align to my correct percentages. Edit: Studio integration is finally working. User profiles exist and you can click links but you can't search for profiles or friend people. Should also include more info about the session on the page, trainer, class type, etc.

Okay, constructive criticism time! Positives: if you attend Orange Theory, immediately following your exercise you'll have the results striaght on your app and get a copy e-mailed to you showing your Performance Summary. That's where the good ends. Unfortunately, the Negatives are: you have to download two apps for the full experience; 1 for your workout highlighting your Performance and the other for actually booking appointments. Workouts outside of Orange Theory don't sync properly to the app.
