I give this app a 2 star on documentation to get it running and a 5 star once you do get it working. Ready Nas tech writing department should all be fired immediately. A group of 10th graders could have done a better job. Alot of figuring out the download and settings is left up to the user. After 3hrs and 3 re-installs it works beautifully. Very pleased. Don't forget to restart P2P in the Frontview. That is what got this thing working for me and now it doesn't have any bugs or problems that I can detect.

O70%
by O####:

The app does not work. I was able to see my folders once and when i did, it had the poorest detail and features. I would not have expected such poor quality from netgear. I purchased the product thinking netgear would have invested more time.

N70%
by N####:

The client software doesnt work on pc or mac or android. cant login and/or doesnt show any shares. Really really bad. Dont waste your time. Your not READYanything!!!

N70%
by N####:

Tried on two different android phones and still can't view my files on my nas device. If a 3rd party app can find them for media streaming then why can't Netgear's own. I paid good money for my drive for this feature. feeling let down.

D70%
by D####:

Lots of single stars and bad reviews claiming app doesn't work. It does, but setup is not intuitive. Took me about an hour, searching for setup guide that worked.. Netgear remote forum was the key for me. Works grest once installed. If it enabled streaming and set up easier, would be five stars.

N70%
by N####:

Seems that the software was done from a first year computer science student. I mean those below avg because even a good student can do something better. In resume, it doesn't work

Q70%
by Q####:

Absolutely the worst app I've ever installed! Can't even access settings to enter my NAS address, let alone anything else. Don't download!

N70%
by N####:

Keeps saying credentials are wrong. Won't let me use it for 1 of the reasons I bought a NAS in the first pace.

N70%
by N####:

App for IPHONE will at least upload photos after a fashion but this app will do nothing useful. Also no update since Oct 2012.

N70%
by N####:

In my opinion only: My review used to read as many others sadly do. Due to clearly advertised features failing to function or worse still being entirely fictitious I believe the Physical product was miss sold. I think 1) complain formally, done - no response. 2) Organise. 3) Watchdog. 4) Trading Standards. 5) Consumer Protection Law. If you agree get in touch andrew.holmes835@ntlworld.com. Please include 'NotReadyNas' in the subject line. Thanks for reading & DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!

Q70%
by Q####:

Settings are faulty, connection is poor, haven't properly registered a user, haven't done things in the right sequence. There is ALWAYS a reason, yet i have been unable to get any real use out of my NAS + remote connection. Crap.

A70%
by A####:

Simply not up to scratch. Btw, folder/file names in Asian languages aren't displayed.

K70%
by K####:

When you start it, the app asks for a username and password. As this is supposed to work over the Internet, I assume this would be your Netgear/ReadyCloud account details however they just don't work. The app would be more useful as a paperweight as without a login, it's completely useless. Can't believe they've released this!

T70%
by T####:

I wish I could have given this app a half star rating. Does not work keeps crashing and shuting down. It gave me two chances for refund. I thought I might be doing something wring. When I figured out it was note a configuration issue it was to late for a refund. My rating is very poorly made product.

D70%
by D####:

So my initial review I couldn't get this to connect at all, I have been able to finally get it to connect with no small amount of reconfiguring on both my router and my phone, however now the program unexpectedly closes EVERY TIME I try to upload/download something. If I want to view the items on my home server it's great if I want to use them the program unexpectedly closes.

C70%
by C####:

This has now been replaced by ReadyCloud. Could never get this to work reliably anyway.

X70%
by X####:

It does connect and work. Works with USB hub as well. However all I see is the Netgear picture for every file type. Does not show title list or filetype. Just a picture. Have to long press and then there is a pop up of the file name/type. And I'm on WI fi with note 3. If fixed I'll rate better. Thanks.

X70%
by X####:

Horrid to try and configure. Multiple issues with zero success. Last time I will ever buy a netgear product.

X70%
by X####:

Doesn't work. Goes to login screen, then nothing. They only option is to log out. That's it. Useless in this version.

K70%
by K####:

Installed on ICS based music player. wouldnt even connect - just rejecting credentials get 1 star because 0 isnt an option

K70%
by K####:

Installed app...no option to search network for my ReadyNAS, just a login screen! Surely the app needs to locate the NAS first (local or remote ddns) before offering a login (which doesn't work). Uninstalling.

K70%
by K####:

just use ReadyCLOUD instead. That works and appears to be maintained.

H70%
by H####:

No shares shown folders set to share with everyone over ftp the lot...the app just doesnt show shares.... its a real shame as its a massive weekness in the nas cant upload files from any mobile device to it....

K70%
by K####:

It's a shame that a software/hardware co. can't create working apps for their own products. Hopefully they actually read these lousy reviews and make these apps actually functional. *promptly deleted*

I70%
by I####:

On my Motorola Droid Maxx the app does not allow access to password protected shares. I have to enable anonymous access or not password protect a share. Company has been aware of issue for several months but has not resolved problem.

K70%
by K####:

No options menu. Cannot change your credentials. Didn't work from outside network at all.

C70%
by C####:

I don't use it very much but when I do its there for what I have set it for. I should give it 5 but since it doesn't allow streaming of media and it could have some more customization on where the files go when you download I have to leave space ;). Keep it coming Netgear!

L70%
by L####:

I tried calling netgear about my readyNAS and this abomination of an app. It should not be advertised as having any kind of network connectivity... It's so incredibly bad at everything it promises on the box and this app is just the icing on the cake.

O70%
by O####:

As others have said enable ftp shares on your nas and it works geat. Give this post a thumbs up so people see how to get it working. Wish there was a a way to remote turn on and off by android app would be perfect.

K70%
by K####:

Won't even work trying to browse with cifs and crashes on directories with a number of files when using ftp.

K70%
by K####:

There's so little it does right, and even that intermittently, that a further detailed review would be pointless.

K70%
by K####:

You put in your credentials and nothing happens. Very poor

K70%
by K####:

Accidentally removed my ready as from my network when trying to change to ftp access and I can't find anyway to re add it.

B70%
by B####:

Doesn't seem to work, no instructions and little assistance in the app. Avoid

K70%
by K####:

So far it is rubbish. Can't connect, with either adm, or any of the other users that connect via the web interface without issue. Quite useless Uninstalling, delaying purchase of 2 More OF THESE NAS boxes if the developer offers no solution here.

X70%
by X####:

I must say WD makes it easy to access data from mobile without the need to have all these accounts. The remote button is not working. Please fix it.

Q70%
by Q####:

I can login but can't get shares to show up. They show up in the browser on my computer but not in the app.

L70%
by L####:

Yep, believe all the reviews. This is an epic fail of biblical proportions. Can't log in due to "incorrect credentials", though I can remote straight in using the same info in ES File Explorer. This app, along with the confirmed IE 10 incompatibility the ReadyNAS has, makes this a rather dud product. Expected way better from Netgear.

This is how I got it to work. I hope this helps . There is no guarantee this will work for you. Use this at your own risk. 1. Login to ReadyNAS with RAIDar. 2. Services - Installed Add-ons screen, select checkbox to enable ReadyNAS Remote add-on, click Apply. 3. Click "Manage ReadyNAS Remote" button. 4. Type your email in Lookup box, click Find. Click Add button to send an invite email with a registration link. Click Apply. 5. Check your email and register for username/pw needed for remote access. 6. Back in Manage remote user, type in new username and click Find. Click Add button to move the user to the Allowed list. Apply. 7. In Services - Standard File Protocols, enable FTP. FTP Authentication mode=user. Apply. 8. In Share - Share Listing, enable FTP with Read/Write for Share. 9. Install ReadyNAS Remote on Android dev. 10. Run ReadyNAS Remote app and enter the ReadyNAS Remote username and PW. 11. Change to "Browse with FTP: Press on ReadyNAS name until a menu showing the Browse with CIFS/FTP options appear. Selected FTP. 12. Enter local ReadyNAS username and PW. Case sensitive. Click save. If it doesn't work, double check settings. Reboot ReadyNAS may help.

Works fine on ftp on my rooted desire hd. If you're having problems, make sure you've set the protocols correctly on both your NAS and your remote device. The only gripe I have is that I can't stream remotely, only the ability to download the file to remote device. But that's no real issue as there are streaming apps for that
