Arlo for Android
The geofencing is back. That is why my 1 star rate went to 4 star. If everything is properly operational after this next week then I'll have no issue with Arlo having a 5 star rating. My update is now 5 star, Arlo is better than when it first started & I thought it was going to keep getting worse but is great now. So glad I didn't have to spend additional $ on something different. Thanks Arlo for getting the issues resolved.
Ive had the 4 camera system for two month's now and they work like a charm, I've had to tweak a few settings but aside from that works great. I have also noticed the battery indicators that each camera projects back to the base are way off, my batteries sit at 23% for weeks at a time and they work in cold weather today its -23 where i live in Canada. I suggest getting large quantities of lithium batteries from either amazon or Battery Junction. Enjoy!!
Cameras are harder to remove from box than to install. I'm pleased with the image quality and battery life. However, the app is lacking in SO many ways. We have excellent WiFi coverage and strength, yet the app consistently displays that cameras are not connected to WiFi and it takes a short eternity to load the live feed. My family is not frivolous with our spending, but we do believe in paying for quality. We researched extensively before purchasing the Arlo Pro system. Ultimately, if app doesn't collaborate with cameras, then having them is of no value. PLEASE, ye tech gods! FIX THE APP!
The system works well, however the mobile app needs improvement. The geofencing option is very unstable and temperamental. The Arlo Pro cameras have excellent video quality and the night vision is excellent also. The Arlo Pro 2 system has better cams and a 3 second pre- record. My Arlo Pro only records at initial activation. The battery life is very good so far. I'm getting about 6 months per charge(depending on activation). Overall I'm happy and gives me piece of mind when away from home.
I am still new to using the Arlo pro wireless. It is easy to arm and disarm the motion sensor, but I have seen inexpensive system view in real time and even be able to back up and watch things you weren't viewing in real-time where this system you cannot do that. You can either capture video with motion or view in real time you can't let it run and then just back up in time and see if something transpired
For the money it is a great system! Wish I spent more time in where I placed the cameras; seems the motion sensor is not as far as I thought, which is deceiving when you go into live view. I will need to rethink my existing placements, and possibly need to buy additional cameras. Night vision doesn't seem very good where there is no light!
Very easy to set up. However, I'm setting up zones for the Arlo Pro 2 cameras you have to plug in the AC power. Why? It'll be so much better if you didn't have to do that when the cameras already mounted. Also needs to be a slight Improvement in geofencing and scheduling on the modes.
I like the fact that the app shows battery levels, and viewing videos is quick and simple. Only glitch is that the app requires multiple restarts to access camera on/off button. The cameras, base station, and app are reliable most of the time. Persistent issues with cameras only filming subjects as they are leaving the field of view instead of as they enter it. Cameras are great until battery level drops below 15%.
Great system. Impressed with quality for the distance it reaches (cameras from base). Of course, would love it to reach further without disconnecting randomly, but come on. Not bad for wireless! Biggest issue is wife and I fight over viewing cameras on our phones, so keep having to log back in because the other beat us to view it! Ha
It is great to keep an eye on your property. You can see nature in your back garden and what's going off at any time day or night. Would like to have different setting mode for people recognition then it would not go off so much and use up the battery so quickly. But all in all it is very good.
Amazing cameras, amazing app. I have had a little Trouble with the interface overlapping a bit from camera to camera on the "devices" screen. But everything is still very functional. I think it is only my phone. I have several friends and my wife who all have it as well and no problems on their phones. I use a Moto Z Droid. They have Samsung's or LG.
Good, could be better. Wish there was a way to adjust recording time following motion detected. It appears to be completely random. Most times it only records for 10 seconds...even when there is activity being recorded. Sometimes a leaf falling triggers MD...but a person walking up the path won't be recorded until they have been in range for several seconds, often already walking away. Otherwise, pretty cool.
It should be better. Right now it's a little buggy - sometimes it plays the live feed and sometimes it doesn't. The Alfred app (in which you can use your old phone as a camera) seems more advanced and that's free! I have a fast fiber connection and one camera. It works just okay. If you have a room with a window, often the window isn't visible because the light is to bright against the other parts of the room. Night vision seems okay. Schedule seems to work and i can also arm via ifttt and Alexa (echo dot). Improvements would include getting rid of the bugs (I often have to close the app completely to view the live feed again). I also have the CVR option but I can't save recordings - apparently the only way you can do that is by using screen recording software (seems like an obvious feature to include but it's not available).
So far, no problems with the cameras or the software. Battery life of cameras reasonable. I estimate 4 months in the cold is the limit, but will repost in the spring to let everyone know. I have 9 cameras total. Seven Arlo Pro's outdoors and totally wireless, and one Arlo Q indoors, one Arlo Pro indoors and always plugged in where traffic is high and lots of recordings occur, and two base stations. I subscribe to the free service only. No problems with wifi connections to cameras because I positioned the base stations and router as close as possible to cameras.
This app has made great improvements with the last several updates. It has become much more stable and usable. The app will occasionally restart itself when I log in, forcing me to log in again. This is still better than the previous constant crashes that I experienced. One of my cameras stopped working after 9 months and wouldn't sync with my base station. It was not as easy as I would have liked to get a replacement, but I eventually did get one after getting a bit of a run around from customer service over a period of a couple of weeks. I'm mostly satisfied with my Arlo hardware and software at this point.
These are the worst cameras for the price you pay. I've only had them a few months and they are horrible. The settings don't transition from night to day, I've had to reboot the system at least 6 times to get it back in working order. If I could leave no stars I would! I also have to reinstall the app every few months!
I got the 3 cam kit. It took 48 hours for the internet to connect for the cameras to start working. Two of the cameras have a red tint to them. Called tech support. They said the would send me replacement cameas I just had to give them my credit card info. I asked how much I would be charged if they didn't get the cameras back. The reply was whatever the going price was on eBay. ???? I was like I am not giving you card info and not know how much I'd be charged. Going to return the system and try another name brand
Its ok but need to improve much more to be better. I set vibration off and it still vibrates. I change motion sensitivity but settings don't save. Btw, I have Arlo Pro 2, I was expecting a great 1080p definition but instead of that the video quality looks like 720 or less (a shame)
Gps mode is very unreliable. I can jave the range set for a large area and still be considered away. I have even been 10 miles away and the app thinks im home, so I am spammed with motion detected emails. I also have a problem with the UI layout. Customizing home and away time isnt the clearest way to set things. Spent more time than i liked to search for this setting
If the power goes out the device does not work. The downloads to notify you in case of an emergency is so quiet you can't hear it. It needs a master on off so we can turn the entire device on or off quickly. It is good to have the option of leaving a specific one on or off, but it's a drag turning each one on or off. The ear button appears to not work.
A lot of great features. Some delay between microphone and camera mic but that could be my connection. Love the motion detection clips and magnetic mounts. Do hope that they can add a feature in the future that allows you to rotate camera image so that a titled camera can be corrected for viewing.
I really enjoy having security while away from home and this works, however the motion detector doesn't work as well as I want it. It catches motion right when there almost under the camera and not right when they start walking on my sidewall.uggh, it has a nice picture though
The app is often slow to open. It freezes and tells me Arlo is not available. I wish it was as reliable as viewing it on my computer since I am more often needing to use the app. Love the cameras though! Quality on the is fantastic. I also like that you may speak to someone as well as view night or day.
Very Long buffering when trying to access live view. Confusing notifications format, need to keep it simple. Bloggers say that the USB ports are useless but I plugged in my phone and it recognized it and was charging the phone battery. So; maybe a developer can write a program or app to enable USB cameras or external Drives since there is 5v output from the ports.
I love the cameras, but the app constantly says my cameras are offline when they're not. I still get notifications when the camera records something, but in the devices view one of more of my four cameras shows it is offline so I can't get a live view or shot of the last activity on that camera. I constantly Uninstall and reinstall the app to attempt to get my cameras back but even that only works sometimes and not for long. Please fix this app! The cameras' value is not much if I can't access them.
Huge flaw for multi system users. I bought a system with 2 cameras for my home. Liked it and just spent $800 on the newest systems with 4 cameras for my work. I should be allowed a basic plan with up to 5 camreras for each system that I buy. Instead, the new system only allows me to activate 3 cameras because I already use 2 on my old system. There are workarounds but an inconvenience every time I use it. Have to use separate emails and what not and logging in and out. This has to be some sort of weights and measure violation.
Every time you update something else cannot be done or updated. Again an update now cameras do not record to devices but get in email. Should have bought a different camera system. Bad cameras cannot update etc etc. A lot of money for all the problems. 9/18. As usual can not access cameras from my phone and their one replacement camera still does not work properly goes from black and white to color. As usual another update and all cameras went off line can not get back on 10/10/17
Needs work... There should be a widget so you can quickly access live video and also to arm and disarm, turn siren on off ect... Also you should be able to arm or disarm individual cameras. For example if I let my dog in the backyard my phone will start blowing up with notifications so I have to disarm the entire system. So when I'm home I'd like the 2 cameras in my front yard to still be armed while my backyard is unarmed as I let my dog out offten.
Mode rules are being overwritten randomly and reverting back to default settings which include assigning the wrong camera and changing "record video" to "do nothing". Rule names revert back to serial numbers. I'm relying on this app as a layer of home security and it's bugs make it useless and unreliable. User sessions don't expire and I don't have to authenticate most of the time which makes me question the security of the app as well. Randomly, fingerprint token is invalidated and I have to authenticate with full credentials. Netgear, focus money on this app and hire competent developers. Hmu for my resume.
It works. 1. But, it does not stop emailing me. It recommends that I go to the app notification settings; I have. That instruction is wrong. I can set the incoming email as spam, but there are no other options to stop the emails. 2. It 'forgets' my password. That's ok with my bank app. It's not ok with a video recorder that sends its results to me.
Not a serious security system. Alerts take a long time to arrive. There is several seconds delay in what is actually happening in real-time and what a camera displays. Now every time we open the app we have see the advertisement for buying more space and no way to stop it. Makes a good baby room monitor nothing more.
Great product, clear pictures. Love it. Set up and camera location is important. If you get that wrong you will not get the full benefit of your arlo cameras. Sometimes I can't stream videos but once the cameras are armed, it gives me a piece of mind.
Almost everything about this app is very intuitive. It was also pretty easy to set up with ITTT and Google home.. However, the sensitivity setting was still a bit hard to figure out. I've set it to both extremes 0-100% and the same amount of movements set it off. This has my outside front camera going off nearly every 5-10 mins from the trees blowing to every single car that passes by. I'm reviewing 50 to 60 5-sec clips of nothing and changing the sensitivity doesn't seem to change that. But I deal with that because it's better than nothing.
Service was great when I first got it. It has become horrible and is to a point where I am seriously considering junking the cameras and the rest of the equipment. I am told it will get better if I upgrade. Well that to me is just another attempt to get money from the buyer. No thanks, I would never recommend this product to anyone anymore.
Bought a three pack of cameras a year ago. The concept is good, wireless cameras. You can access them anywhere there is internet. Free cloud storage for seven days of playback, with up to five cameras. Have to replace batteries in two of my cameras every week or two. The same two cameras always drop offline. Because of this you will pay an additional one hundred dollars a year on batteries. Was this some sort of joke? These cameras are the biggest waste of money, mainly in batteries.
I love this app! Few minor issues, but didn't everything these days have issues. Overall very impressed and would highly recommend the app and especially the whole Arlo Pro System. Excellent job Netgear ????????☺️
Got the arlo pro and pro 2. Amazing product. Battery life is far beyond my expectation. Very easy to setup and manage. But why would you need to plug in for geofencing when I already mounted up the cameras? On the pro 2 the motion detecting is a little better. I also upgraded my router and internet speed which also helped. In summary, I would recommend this to anyone.
Let me start with, trying to decide on a home surveillance system is a crapshoot. So buy and try seems to be the only way to make a decision these days. This system has a very user friendly setup. It also has a fairly simple app to navigate. The arlo website is NOT the place to learn how to navigate through the app. YouTube it. My only concern is that I cannot make out a face or a license plate even at a distance of 10 feet. It does me not good if I cannot identify who has accessed my property. Arlo needs to correct this failure in the cameras. At over $1000.00 for the basic setup, I thought the cameras would have been of a better quality. Overall I am ok with the notification of motion. I may try another camera to see if the picture quality is better.
Pros: Intuitive, feature rich app. Very simple camera system set up. Cons: Camera angles are not versatile (positioning is limited). Video recording triggered by motion starts late and often misses the item in question.

App works as advertised. Displays my camera. Has the option to Live View. I can control speaking through the camera fairly easy. I pretty much like it. Only thing and I don't know if this comes from the camera or the App. But motion sensor gets detected a bit late. When I re watch footage, people are already half way up my stairs by the time the video starts recording. Yet the camera can see way beyond that. Other than that everything app related works great.
