NETGEAR WiFi Analytics for Android
One of the best apps NETGEAR has to offer. Shows your network's signal strength, performs a network speed test, a list of available networks (hidden networks show up) and so much more. Helps a lot if I come across a problem with my network. REALLY WORKS, Doesn't slow down your device.
Why did you make this Netgear Genie Wifi analytics separate? You've created extra steps and made your already confusing software even more confusing. To change wifi channels I now have to use two different apps. It doesn't make any sense what you did.
It won't show or work for me regardless of if data is turned on or not. The thing is, we just recently got a new Verizon router and it's by NetGear. I'm kinda tech-savvy and wouldn't call myself technically challenged, but still it doesn't work. Does a specific NetGear product have to be bought for this app to work? Is there a catch or something?
App is great! App ad doesnt lie does exactly as it says. It needs your location? Who cares! If anybody really wanted your location they would not necessarily need this app to do so. If ya dont like it dont cry, dont download, sukk it and enjoy!
Used specifically for extended WiFi router I purchased. Tested front porch and backyard which were dead zones. App revealed great statistics from product. Recommend this app not only for my test but any public wifi signals.
Used for a few months, found to be helpful in identifying the best 2.4 ghz channel to be on. Allowed avoiding neighbors traffic. Then stopped functioning at all for unexplained reason. Im sure it was update of some part of marshmallow. Reinstallation attempted, no change.
It never changes. No matter what, it stays.. scratch all that. As I was writing this I had a power outage. I realized I had been reading it wrong.
This app has potential but, unfortunately, there are a few issues. It has force closed 3 times in the first 5 minutes of use. Then, after staying running long enough to edit my rooms and do some tests, all the rooms reverted to default. Frustrating, but maybe it will get better.
I didnt check the permissions too closely but the tools provided by this app did not ask me for anything intrusive. Anyways, it works great. I especially like the site survey feature that allows me to measure signal strength and speed by rcoom
Do I have to log in my internet or should it automatically pick it up? It won't seem to connect. Pretty useless right now so. Help?
Now let's all get paranoid about privacy!! Who the hell cares if this app wants to know my location?! Is that going to harm me in some way? I don't think so. Walking around the house trying to figure out the best 5GHz channel to use and the best location for my WiFi extender this app is absolutely invaluable. It's helped me refine my WiFi setup and I wouldn't be without it.
I like the polling for various rooms in the house. Very simple to use. The best use is help deciding which channel to use. I used to have frequent disconnects because of interference. Switched channels and my connection is much more stable. I wish houses were constructed for centralized wifi. Luckily they have repeaters if you arent gaming.
feedback : All it's missing is data usage from your Wi-Fi connection. Calculate each area of usage in home or calculate everything being pulled from that router/ modem/ signal. Give us accurate reports of what your actually using cause how many pages do I really need to state my Wi-Fi strength is high &working
The app works as advertised and I like the interface. Unfortunately the app will not run if location permission is turned off. Why would the app need location info? Only answer I can think of is for harvesting personal info to sell. Too bad a company like Netgear feels that they need to do this. I will delete this app and go back to my previous wifi analysis app. And I will not buy Netgear equipment in the future.

Can keep track of wifi signal throughout my whole house. Just bought the extender and really does the job for me. Was going crazy without it, never could get a good wifi signal upstairs. Now it is perfect!
I've found this to be totally useless. My speed test over the app shows my Internet is working a few ticks below best. Funny because I'm in the middle of a service outage and can't even get Facebook to post a status. Maybe I'm inept and not understanding something or maybe this is just rather useless.
Now that I have this app, I'm wondering why I thought I needed it? It does what it's supposed to do, I guess, but I already know which rooms have a horrible signal. Seeing it in color hasn't done me a darn bit of good. Having given this review, as requested, I shall now uninstalled it. Peace, all.
I used this to track down dead spots in my wireless network. If you have multiple access points, it works best if you're not connected as you move around, because every time you switch APs, the app loses track of which APs you were watching.
I installing Internet services daily so this app helps me find open WiFi slots & dead zones in my cx house. This app makes it fast to get the Networks configured correct the fist time.
Network Status shows a "Mac ID" ... A Mac is something different - in networking its a MAC, in Wi-Fi the base station wireless MAC is named BSSID. Still missing is tech information available (and required) like wifi wps ess psk ccmp preauth tkip aes-ccmp - showing WPA2 does not say much, and can hide WiFi misconfigurations like tkip still permitted, or WPS still announced when disabled, or lack of preauth on AP supposed to support fast roaming. Requiring new privileges for user tracking instead of fixing?
I know very little about wifi technology so this app was an absolute winner. It was easy to use, easy to understand, gave accurate data, and enabled me to not sound like a complete idiot when I called tech support for a problem I was having. I appreciate that. A lot. If you need to check your signal this is the app to use. Thank you.
This app recommended channel 2 when there are strong/nearby Wifi networks on channels 1 and 6. BAD! Ever hear of adjacent channel interference?
Works but I hate how I cannot change channels though I see best signal under channel but I cannot change it
It doesn't boost, neither did Genie by Net gear .Found a great one by EN Joy,it worked fantastic!Unfortunately my phone broke, couldn't retrieve & put in new one. My luck.Warp Speed is advertisement. Not liking my NETGEAR anymore.
I'm not sure if it was this app or not but immediately after installing my SG5 automatically updated every app on my phone.
I don't use this app all the time however it comes in very handy. It allows me to see quickly what other WiFi connections are around me so I could set up my wireless connection to avoid conflicts
Works great with no banners or full screen video bs. Does everything advertised on every phone I have used it on. Great set of features everything you need to quickly determine what's wrong and go about fixing it, 5*!
Very handy little tool, especially to see what channels your neighbors are on to avoid congestion. Also has a nice tool to test/organizeby results by room.
Good channel recommendations but you're going to want to combined this with a couple other apps if you are really dedicated to achieving optimal signal strength ± lower you signal noise dBM = an acceptable signal to noise ratio or (SNR). This app doesn't give the exact SNR reading nor the noise dBm
Free, simple and efficient, does exactly what it promises, while being user-friendly for people who aren't 'technical.' This app will help you maximize the efficiency of your 2.4 GHz network by showing signal strength and sources of interference. Would give this app five stars if it were available for iOS devices.
i can't uninstall this app from my phone until i've uninstalled from gg play. bad
Field strength indications possibly useful but it suggested a speed of 72Mbps, well above the capability of this network; actually about 6Mbps.
Being able to dave wifi specs by room is nice, but the main thing is that it let me diagnose the length of my 5ghz band, and what all is on my 2.4ghz band and what channels. Found a perfect spot to put a repeater and now soon my house will have no dead zones.
This is a 4- or 5-star app if not for the fact that it wants too much personal info, as was stated in another review. There are apps out there of similar quality that are much less intrusive. Netgear, ease up on my privacy and I'll be back. For now, I have to uninstall. Have a blessd day!
Loved figuring out where my signal was best and worst.
Works quite well. Not much to report.. I knew my kitchen has a weak signal.. Now I know just how weak it is. The app lets you save WiFi info by room; I saved my kitchen data today, and will compare back after I get a repeater.
This is the best usefull app, I have ever downloaded, and for free in2 the bargain , amazing. No exaggeration , I am having trouble with my WiFi it's fine for pc tablets mobiles etc but anytime I go to ps4 online gaming , I couldn't :O was told to download a analyser app to find best channel , I downloaded 2 and both contradicted each other , then found yours and because of the name Netgear I downloaded and it's so accurate I am amazed and my problem is fixed , channel 1 for ps4 gaming , thanks Netgear :-D
This is the only app of its kind that has settings located right where you need them. Im talking about scan time and filter choices. With other apps. You have to leave that screen. Make your changes and then go back. That really got this one right.

Quite useful. It's easy to use and is a very good home app that meets its goal. Not intended to be a pro level tool, so don't expect every feature you would find in a dedicated network scanning tool. The majority of people downloading from the "Play Store" aren't professionals and don't need that level of complexity, in a personal tool. Well done... Thank you, Netgear.
