Europe is a hard rock band from Upplands Vasby, Sweden, a hard rock, heavy metal and glan metal band.
The band was formed in 1982 by vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum bass Peter Olsson and drummer Tony Reno originally used the name "Force" but after they won the national contest, the band's name was replaced by " Europe ".
