Neato Robotics for Android
So exited when see the new fuction to update. But after updated and unable to connect back as can't detect my Wi-Fi. May I know why?
Doesn't stay connected to the internet, keeps telling me it needs to be rebooted over and over again, didn't clean half of the apartment the last couple of times I've managed to get it to run, not worth the money.
So I've had the D3 for about seven weeks now and it's completely changed how clean my house is and it's only gotten stuck once. Very impressive.
It's very buggy right now. App always says offline and I can't get it to reconnect to my network. However, I still get the updates like "I'm stuck" so uhh yeah, please fix that guys. App says offline but I still get notification updates, very weird.
It gives you all you need, although it has a lot of wasted space in the UI. Spot cleaning is kind of pointless, it doesn't let you choose the area on the house map
Was a snap to set up. I've had it running around while I'm busy working. So cool to watch it navigate around obstacles.
Basic features missing: Return to dock, Show me where you are, and mute annoying help bleeps when upside down. Obviously the brush is being cleaned.
Its oki, but missing a key funksjon like send bake too base in the middle of a cycle.
I love the vacuum. This is an edit/update of my last review which was lower. The recent updates to this app, accompanied by the recent firmware update to the vacuum solved my issues with the vacuum losing wifi connection. Great job Neato. Oh, and I love the coverage maps but would really like to be able to maybe pay for an upgrade and get the D7 functionality of drawing no-go zones in the map instead of using the mag strips.
Okay app but missing key features. Every time the user commands the bot to stop, if the bot is not lost or stuck it should have a return to base option. #1 problem with the app in my book and it shouldn't require hardware changes on the bot, worst case just firmware and probably just a smartphone app feature.
Map is visible after first round. Historical stats are however resetted. Reconnects faster after losing wifi, very nice. First cleaning pass is not very efficient, had to completely cross the house a few times. May be it is still learning. Return to dock is still not available. Edit: Docking was hidden in plain sight. Bot needs to vacuum for a while, then if you paused it, docking button is visible. I now give the app 5* because after losing wifi (quite frequent, might be a hardware issue in the bot), it reconnects much faster. Previously reconnect only happens hours or sometimes days after the bot finished the work.
Seems to be losing Wi-Fi connection with the Bot. Reconnect takes a long time, but sometimes restarting the app fixes it. Lots of UI overhead for the few options that are in the app. Update 12/21/17: installed new SW and now robot won't even start. Leaves base, spins up, repeats 3 times then shuts down with error code to reboot. Tried that several times, same result. Horrible! Beginning to hate it.
Excellent vacuum & programming/software. Best of breed. It still needs to be tougher. You need to use my house, with lots of long haired girls and long haired cats; species/breed of long haired cats range from Ragdoll purebred to two purebred Maine Coon, plus one sweet mutt-cat. Your vacuums have gotten more and more able over the years, staying at the front of the competition, but they still have a ways to go. You need a testing ground like my house. Being disabled, a robot vacuum of some brand is 100% necessary for me to vacuum. My current first choice is Neato Connected, it sucks up dirt Roomba leaves behind. And Neato is currently a LOT better, not a little. But there is room for improvement, so 4 stars.
It's a nice app. But some improvements will make it better. For example, their should be a possibility to see where the robot is cleaning real time, if he is stuck, where it's stuck. And an option to send it back to the docking station. And most important, their should be a feature that allows the remote user to define which area to be cleaned
They recently added maps of areas cleaned and cleaning summary. I only wish they would allow you to draw no vacuum zones on the map to avoid certain stools chairs Etc around your home. I realize the D7 has this capability but it is only a software function if I understand correctly. It should be incorporated across the entire lineup of Neato D connected products. Unfortunately the Neato D7 was not available when I purchased mine... I would have gladly ordered it for that function alone. Neato please add no go zones to the map on the software and this product would be perfect. I am constantly amazed at the amount of dirt dust hair and general filth around my house even though I have a maid bi-weekly as well as an air filter running full-time. These vacuums are the Perfection of the technology
Considering it's just a software limitation why doesn't the d5 and d3 have the ability of manual control? Why is the dock button grayed out? Why can't I draw no vacuum zones? These are software features that are easily added to the app for these vacuums.
I'm really surprised at how much the app is lacking. Why do I have a button on the app to return the unit to base, but it's greyed out and unusable even after this most recent update? I really hope the app is updated more quickly to keep up with the competition.
Everything was fine before the update, now the app shows that my robot is offline. The main reason I purchased this was for my room to be cleaned while I'm AWAY from home, and now that doesn't work. I'll most likely be returning this and trying an iRobot if this doesn't get fixed soon.
Update 2/2018. 1. No option to stop running and return to base. Sometimes it is running but this app says offline. Sometimes it stops, but no option appears to return to charge. 2. You can tell that it must be low on power and you want to stop for now. Dock doesnt work. Its grayed out. You pick stop... thinking it will ungray. When you press stop it wont go again. So its dead. 3. You temporarily need quiet and want to charge. There is no potion for go charge until 100% then go again. 4. No option to stop or start the beeping when its stuck. Just beeps until it is dead. 5. Although it learns something, it still doesn't learn the whole house layout. As to locations where it repeatedly gets stuck, there is on learning to avoid them or approach them from another side... Vac is very good. Much better than the more popular brand. App not so much.
I have many of the same problems as described in other reviews. The bot updated and now runs pretty smooth. 3 days in.
The new updates has some nice features but the Extra Care feature will not turn on via schedule and the bot gets stuck a lot. If I do it manually I have no issues. Frustrating.
This app isn't fleshed out in my estimation. The docking feature isn't available to use at any time. The cleaning map was only available after the first run.
Very simple software with a lot of room for improvement. A return to base button that is not useful is what bother me the most.
Robot offline pretty much every time i want to use it. This is not an error or faulty device, but an extremely poor firmware design decision. It simply will not reconnect if the wifi drops for any reason. We have gone through 3 d5 connected devices, different routers and different ISPs, but the longest I have seen it stay connected is roughly a week.
I use the app together with a D5 and still have a few reconnect issues even after the latest update. Would be great if it was possible to restrict movement through the app based on previously recorded cleaning maps. Would be great if there was a simple button press to send it back to base. Spot should be possible to set/choose from different patterns.
D3 - App Often loses connection with unit. Please fix asap. Until then I've sideloaded the 2.0 version and connectivity seams better. Love the mapping on job finish is great!
Constantly loses connectivity to the bot. Lack of any on-bot display makes troubleshooting lengthy and painful. Has no features I care about. My D5 is strictly a downgrade from my old XV due to this busted app.
Smart, Powerful, Disconnected? Not sure if it's a bot issue or an app issue but Google WiFi shows it connected. Unfortunately the only way it seems to get it to reconnect is by a lengthy reset process. This is a D5.
It would be a great help in future versions if : you could reset the robot using the app after it loses wifi connection...which mine does all the time. I have to reset the vaccum by hand everyday. Also, coverage maps are huge plus but....it would be great to give owner a little more control by setting certain areas/rooms off limits without resorting to mag strips. Also use maps to send robot to clean one specific area only.
The app would be great if it actually connected to the robot. Because it won't connect, most of the functionality doesn't work. Online help hasn't been very... Helpful.
I was forced to return the bot vac. It spent more time OFF line than ON line. I owned the roomba 12 years ago which did not need to be connected to wifi. Press the button and it cleaned. Simple as that! It would dock itself if it felt it's battery was running low. Neato requires WiFi and often jumps offline if it gets stuck or if it's full. It is also Not easy to reconnect it to your WiFi once it looses connection. Doesn't remember your Wi-Fi code and needs to be punched in over and over. Not worth the money.
Not great...my Neato did work...now it went offline and I can't even get it to light up....I asked for advise...none given. I think I will take it back to the store I bought it at last week. App is not very helpful.
Im on my 2nd neato vacbot as the first never worked correctly. Now the replacement neato has the exact same issue of 'no robot found' while still showing it is connected to wifi. Do not purchase this product.
Connection seems buggy. Often shows robot offline even when I am home and on Wi-Fi. I kinda wish I had bought a robot that didn't use the app. It seemed like a convenient feature but I feel like I spend a disproportionate amount of time resolving connection problems.
Mapping and recording cleaning sessions stopped working on our D5. The cleaning has improved but the app needs a lot more work. We love the bot.
No issues, they seem to have fixed all the major bugs. Neato D5
The pictures for the app are not the same for when it downloads. There is only about 3 options to use, which all are unreliable. There isnt even a manual mode. Im not sure what app it advertises but it is not this one. Bad app.
Very intelligent robot. Had some connections issues when setting up, but it's been performing very well since. Money well spent, highly recommended.
Needs a working "return to base" function. The way it is now, having a button with that function but having it greyed-out and permanently unusable, is just silly.

App continually goes offline. If you put out an app it should be developed properly for android and ios before launching.
