A Correção do fator de potência através, principalmente, da instalação de capacitores tem sido alvo de muita atenção das áreas de projeto, manutenção e finanças de empresas interessadas em racionalizar o consumo de seus equipamentos elétricos. Objetivando otimizar o uso da energia elétrica gerada no país, o extinto DNAEE (Departamento Nacional de Águas e Energia Elétrica), atualmente com a denominação de ANEEL (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica), através do Decreto Nº 479 de 20 de março de 1992 estabeleceu que o fator de potência mínimo deve ser 0,92.

Este APP é muito diferentes dos outros APP pelos seguintes aspectos:
- O usuário entra com a tensão, frequência e a potência atual.
- Em seguida, entra com o fator de potência atual da sua empresa fornecida pela concessionaria de energia elétrica.
- Você escolhe qual é o fator de potência desejado (ex.: 0.92).
- Clique no botão calcular.
- Ele apresenta o valor do capacitor para realizar a correção e a potência de correção.
