Good app, no trouble syncing, but it does not calculate average resistance correctly. I like to do longer manual workouts due to knee problems, and start on resistance 1 for a 1 minute warm-up before turning it up for the remainder of the time. But it has calculated my average resistance at 1, even after doing 19 more minutes at 2 several times. I've also had it say avg 2 when I spent the majority of the time at 3 (18/20 minutes). This makes me wonder if it's calculating other items correctly, like calories, etc. Other than that, I'm loving my Max Trainer and this app.

I have 60 workouts all logged on Jan.1, 2015 and I bought my M7 in Dec of 2016...... good thing I'm in a fitness challenge and I take a picture of the machine every morning or else I wouldn't have any proper records... Thank you for your response, I was able to update the machine and it has been working very well. I do love how this machine challenges me! Thanks again.

The app is so inconsistent with syncing workouts. It worked the 1st 8 weeks, now it can't find any new workouts. Disappointing as I'm trying to track my progress. With the cost of the Bowflex, I would expect better technology.

Z70%
by Z####:

If this is the attempt by Bowflex to join the IoT (Internet of Things) they really missed the boat. This app is terrible. I have tried numerous times over the past few days to sync the app with my new Bowflex M5 Max trainer and it has sync properly exactly one time. I would expect more from this company.

Will not sync with my M5. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it found it, YAY! But then next time back to cannot be found. Had to go back to using old app even though it doesn't give much info since st least I can get it to connect (most of the time...)

Not bad but can only rate at two stars until I'm able to delete individual workouts. The functionality of the previous app was better.

Z70%

The app is pretty useless. It's glorified version of keeping logs... The biggest bummer is that it's not compatible with Fitbit app

This app is unable to sync with my m5! I'm very disappointed.

Z70%
by Z####:

I haven't had a problem getting the app to sync, since reading the tip that you have to hit pause/stop a few times and go all of the way back to the Welcome screen first. But now I have a new phone, and I see that there's no Backup/Restore feature, and even creating a Bowflex Connect account and letting both phones sync to that doesn't do what I want. That's pathetic.

Had the first version of this app and had no problems connecting to my Galaxy S6. This new version has not synced once. I paid for a Max Trainer M7 for the ability to sync and track my fitness training. The lack of response to the guided support instructions resulting in an email is extremely disappointing. The absence of any semblance of professionalism has definitely influenced any future purchases I might be tempted to make.

Found max 5 without problems. For the first week it synced great. Then it says it is syncing but hasn't found a new workout in over a week. Followed all the help and the email direction support and it still doesn't work. I shouldn't have to Uninstall, power off, and end the workout 4 times and still not have it sync. Love the m5 but it sucks as I paid for this version so I could use the app.

When i first got this updated app. It worked great then it stopped syncing my newer workouts. I solved that problem by looking at my M5. I accidentally switched under User 2 instead my User 1 mode. Once i switched it back to User 1 all my workouts sync. Hope this is helpful This app is nicely done. It gives me more goals and keeps of all my workouts even when I first bought my Max. Thanks for the great app.

Like I said the app works as advertised. The machine kicks your butt in a good way. One improvement I would like to see us the ability to delete a single workout from the log. Let's just say that user 2 was working out on user 1 by accident. Thanks in advance.

Good enough to keep track of my workouts...not a ton of different data you can collect with this trainer frankly. And for all of those complaining about the app not syncing, I discovered something after constantly having the same problem. You need to MAKE SURE that when you are done with your workout, you need to press END TWICE so that the Welcome screen appears. Then it literally syncs immediately. My phone is in my second floor office and my trainer is in the basement and my last workout synced fine.

F70%
by F####:

Sync issues with the app make it frustrating and unusable. The lack of online support adds to the overall crappy experience. I have a Galaxy S6 phone and i have never had any Bluetooth issues except for pairing with the M5 Max trainer. Too bad the app isn't reflective of the Machine and sours the overall experience. For such a large company one would think they would pay more attention to the details.

This app will not work. I have tried everything, from u installing and reinstalling the app to unplugging my M5 to reset. It will not find my workouts. The old app worked just fine. This one is worthless. So disappointed.

Z70%
by Z####:

LOVE my Max Trainer. Hate the app. Updates cause problems much wasted time fiddling to get it to sync. Last sync Oct 13 2016. Again today I uninstall and reinstall. Not even going to mention or rate app features or UI. And yes, on Welcome screen, paired, close proximity, unplugged M5 yada yada yada.

Z70%
by Z####:

Keeps having Sync issues where I have to unplug/plug in the Max Trainer for it to sync. Also you don't need my GPS location turned on as a requirement to sync Bluetooth to something a foot away.

Z70%
by Z####:

Again, fine gps is completely unnecessary for sync and needs to be removed. As to my crazy calorie reading issue in the app, I believe it may have been interfered with by my fitbit alta, which also uses btle. I now leave it off my body and far away while using my m5, and my m5 syncs fine with the app(no help from bowflex on this solution, but it would be nice to at least have them confirm)

Z70%
by Z####:

The new app does not recognize new workouts. I have not gone through all of the resetting, etc as I see others have not found success. Correct me if I am wrong. The bluetooth was the selling point for me when I made this purchase. I have recommend this to friends...that it so motivating to have all your stats show up online. They better fix this. UPDATE- Could have been my fault....my wife did a workout under user "2"...I never check this as she rarely uses it.....I did a workout under "1" and it registered...Back in Business

As others have said, this app continuously fails to connect and sync with the Max Trainer. It worked the first two out of three times I used it, and that's it. I've tried over and over, turning the Bluetooth on my phone on and off, restarting the app, turning the machine on and off. This app fails to do the only thing it's supposed to do, download the information on the Max Trainer and drop it on the app. Pointless app..

K70%

Will not sync after initial. When sync works, does not find the workout I just completed. Uninstall, reinstall, shutdown, restart...this app just doesn't work. The M5 is a great piece of equipment but the corresponding app tarnishes the overall experience. Very disappointed a basic app to track progress is still a Gap with this product.

Anyone having issues syncing; you MUST back out of any programs on the unit itself and go to where it displays "welcome". The instructions aren't very clear on this aside from stating it for the initial sync. I've tested and works without fail Everytime I back out. As far as the app itself goes it's nice for data but I would like some more customization on the home screen display. For instance I don't have a lot of time for long workouts and would prefer to see my workout numbers for that entire day as oppose to the most recent workout. I would also like this to be reflected in the journal to see an entire days worth of stats as oppose to only individual workouts, don't make me do math

This app synced my first workout and is unable to connect ever since. Yall need to fix this bug asap!

Z70%

Over the course of a few workouts and a number of sync attempts, the app indicates it's paired (but it's not, according to my phone settings), and it will not sync to accept my workout data.

Does not work with my phone. Tech help say probably an issue with Android 7.1 and would be treated, that was weeks ago and still not working.

Really Disappointed - App Won't Sync. Honestly, I'm super disappointed with this. My husband and I just bought a Bowflex Max Trainer 5, and despite the app "acknowledging" the machine on BOTH of our phones (Samsung Galaxy S7s), it simply won't sync. Total disappointment. The ability to sync & track our workouts with the app, and My Fitness Pal (which is actually synced through the Bowflex App), was a major deciding factor in purchasing this very pricy piece of home gym equipment. I'm livid, to be honest. We've done ask the trouble shooting, and followed all of the instructions, and despite being two tech savvy adults, we can't get the app to work - just like EVERYONE else in the reviews, despite being told that these issues were fixed, prior to making our purchase. I see someone from Bowflex replying to all of the One Star Reviews, which is why I'm leaving my own - I really want this to work, because we bought the Bowflex Max, and we want to be able to utilize the accompanying app and My Fitness Pal syncing - that was the big benefit over the 3 Model, which is like $500 less. As of now - if you're on the fence about buying a Bowflex Max Trainer, and the app is important to you, wait until they have an update, because while the Trainer itself is great, the app is unusable right now.
