I believe all the intentions are there to help inform us, but when you cannot properly navigate the app, like edit watch zones, on non-standard or older platforms, you start to feel very nervous. Even scrolling the what's new page did not work, finally managed to get rid of it though . Make sure this app is properly tested before releasing updates and have a broad coverage of the Android platforms. Come on Vic. government, put your money where your mouth is.

Can't save Watch Zone for an address I give it. It merely tells me to save a Watch Zone where I am currently located. Had a fire within 5km of my location last night and no notifications received even though I had s Watch Zone setup. Fire Ready app was heaps better and a lot more reliable.

R70%
by R####:

The most critical application on my phone yet it is frustratingly slow. Probably the slowest application altogether. Instead of getting the junior tea boy to make this they should have hired a professional. ZERO stars would be a better rating

R70%
by R####:

It wanted me to set up an account, but the conditions are unreasonable and unnecessary. I can't adjust zones and do a Quicksave, since it freezes every time I try. And even though it seems to have a Home zone set, I don't get notifications for my area. Plenty of room for improvement.

V70%
by V####:

Hate this app and want fire ready back! Live in the country and feel extremely unsafe considering I don't receive notifications at all when I have a fire nearby. I see it on Facebook and have to open the app to check and then it doesn't even show the things properly. Unreliable and unsafe! You should be ashamed of ruining a great app that helped save lives!

R70%
by R####:

I had the CFA app installed, and it worked perfectly. That app was automatically replaced by the VicEmergency app without so much as a by-your-leave. The VicEmergency app is possibly the slowest, most user unfriendly app I have ever used. Warnings sometimes come through after the incident has already been resolved. Switching between watch zones (mine, my mum's and my daughter's) is hit and miss, with the app responding in unpredictable ways. Changing settings is a nightmare as the app often freezes.

A70%
by A####:

This app is far to slow considering so many Victorians depend on it for notification regarding bush fires. I can only imagine how poor it's performance is on lower end or older devices. Needs to be optimised, ASAP. Why was fire ready given the flick?

L70%
by L####:

Disappointed in this app for a number of reasons. Test notifications do not work. Oh look the list goes on. In short I hope it's working soon. Fire Ready app was reliable. This one hmm not so much. HOW AND WHERE DO WE ACCESS TOTAL FIRE BAN INFORMATION FOR VICTORIA????? Just received a weather watch notification for tomorrow. It did not say that it would be a total fire ban day. Luckily I found out on the CFA website. The developers should be ashamed. Lives. You're dealing

This app is dreadful to navigate, and doesn't provide alerts properly. The Fire Ready app provided us with confidence that we could rely on in a bush fire. Please consider simplifying the format of this app to provide the essentials that we rely on in an emergency. Removing the Melbourne centric opening screen would speed it up for those of us in the regions. In a bush fire we only need bush fire information.

X70%

What a useless piece of rubbish this app is. Every year it is changed and not once has it been any better for the user. It is so slow you couldn't wait for it to respond in an emergency. Yesterday there was a fire 690 meters from my home and I could not get any information at all. It is worse than not knowing. The notification is non existent. You need to be able to hear an alert!!! The map does not load correctly. We need to know where these incidents are!!!! How can you act to save yourself????? I think this App is getting worse.

R70%
by R####:

I REALLY don't want to be alerted for a fire ban data. I now mostly ignore so-called alerts from this app. They are borderline spam. And can't be turned off. Tell me if there's a genuine incident, like the old app used to do. Also, anonymous should be an option.

by R####:

What an appalling effort at keeping people informed. How much did this cost the tax payer. Did they try it before lumping us with it. Clunky freezes slow but we need it. Enjoy your poo sandwich taxpayer and for God's sake have a big plan b

R70%
by R####:

This is a seriously flawed app. Slow, constantly freezing and failing to notify of incidents which I can physically see are near me. Serious money has been thrown at this app, it should be tried and tested well and truly, before putting it out as a safety device for the public. Get your act together Vic government.

R70%
by R####:

Slow, clunky, even the text only version is filled with glitches. This is not a time waster , people's lives and livelyhoods depend on it. Please stop putting bandaids on a faulty app and give us something we can use

R70%
by R####:

Feature requests have been listened to and capability has rapidly improved. However, architecturally I think building this as a Web app was a big mistake in terms of app performance and I really don't like that. Rapid info re fires is still better served from other apps.

R70%
by R####:

This is a terrible retrograde step from the Fire Ready app. The pop up warnings are useless, instead you get a truncated nonsensical warning message. Once you tap on the pop up, you're taken into the app itself and it is incredibly difficult to navigate to the incident that promoted the pop up message. Not once have I been able to get to the details of the pop up warning given on my lock screen. Very very poor UI and usability. So lucky there has not been serious bushfires to date.

R70%
by R####:

Living in a high fire danger area, this app makes me nervous. It amazes me with all the negative response that your Media account managers are not responding. Have no words really... pathetic on all fronts. Even your updates are usless. The Fire Ready App was simple..accurate and most importantly it made you feel informed and safe !!!!!

R70%
by R####:

Even after the update the audible alerts are anything but audible. Unless you live with phone in your pocket you will miss the 4 short beeps of alert. Relying on this app gives a false sense of safety. Designers should hang their heads in shame. 2 close bushfires and was not warned by the app.

L70%
by L####:

Pretty much useless.... This latest version obviously needed far more testing before being released. Very unprofessional to effectively use the general public as testers, especially because of what this is app is meant for. One step forward and ten steps backwards from the prior version. App is really slow and test notifications don't even work plus many, many other problems..very disappointing. If there was a zero star rating this app deserves it. Absolutely horrid and next to useless releasing such a steaming pile of excrement to the general public, the creators of this app should be ashamed of themselves..

R70%
by R####:

I much preferred the fire ready app. This app doesn't really update you with what is happening and half the time the notifications expire before you get to see what they were. Its hard to zòom in on the areas or find ang history on what incidents has happened recently. Its good for weather warnings though.

R70%
by R####:

User-unfriendly. Won't let me save a watch zone. The previous CFA fire app worked perfectly and sent notifications of bushfires around our farm. This app is a huge step backwards. UPDATE: Updating the app didn't solve its endless problems and bugs, but uninstalling and reinstalling has finally allowed me to save a watch zone.

R70%
by R####:

Won't load. Doesn't always send alerts. Crappy all 'round :-( the Fire Ready App was brilliant..bring that back! going to resort to going outside and sniff for smoke...if i see flames or smell smoke there's a fire. more reliable than this app.

R70%
by R####:

Absolute battery killer! Uses a quarter of my battery every day. GPS runs constantly! There is no point in having this app if it runs my phone flat. Maybe I'll disable it unless the weather is severe. Turned my android into an apple :-( I need to constantly charge it. Sony Xperia Z1 compact

J70%
by J####:

The app us extremely slow, clunky and virtually useless. Also gives information we don't want. What was wrong with the old FireReady app? It was so much better than this!

R70%
by R####:

Really needs a lot of work! I set up a watch zone and continue to get notifications that are way out of my zone and had an incident of bushfire on my road and wasn't notified! Test notification shows it was all working so I guess just unreliable. My town was rated in one of the top four towns to be at great risk of bushfire this season in Victoria and I can't rely on it. Looking for a more reliable source as are many from my area

K70%
by K####:

When will you guys get it right? Even the postcodes are wrong! I cannot even set a zone for my Mother who lives in a bushfire zone! Bring back the Fire Ready app!

R70%
by R####:

Boy who cried wolf? Install, set watch zone, notification every 10 minutes for incidents inside and outside of watch zone, Alerts turned on for emergencys only! In my area only! and i get three for what the state fire rating is going to be for the next two days, that is not emergency information regarding emergencys, thats fear mongering... fire ready app worked and was user friendly.... this is more difficult to use and navigating to anywhere but where the alert has sent me is a nightmare.

U70%
by U####:

Very, very slow even when using very, very fast internet access. Notifications do not link through to the correct watch zone. Incident counts differ depending on where you are in the app. Notifications are not timely; they mostly occur after the incident has long been declared safe. The CFA was significantly better. Users should definitely not use this app as their sole source of emergency information.

M70%
by M####:

I don't usually complain about apps but I feel like this is important. This app is ultra slow for starters. Every single time my phone has notified me of an incident in my area I've immediately opened it to be sent to the statewide map with a message that the incident may no longer be valid. I'm not running some old POS phone with old firmware. This app is just awful. Get a refund from the company you overpaid to make this and get somebody better to do it please. This one could cost lives.

R70%
by R####:

I wouldn't want to rely on this app in an emergency. Tells me there is an incident within 10km but when I tap on it no details are provided. When you live in the country you need more reliability than that. The 5 star ratings relate to the FireReady app. Victorian Government trying to hoodwink us again

R70%
by R####:

Bring back the FireReady app. This is not very user friendly and not easy to set up. I have now added the VicFire app to supplement this rubbish app to provide me with the additional info I need living in Regional Vic. Please sack the bureaucrats who developed and 'tested' this app. Oh and to a few of the people who rated this app highly... I recognise a few names from the hierarchy in my volunteer emergency service days... Need I say more.

R70%
by R####:

Useless. Get notifications, open app and it tells me there are no incidents. Could see smoke and the water bomber flying - no notification. The fire ready app was perfect. Why change it to this junk. BRING BACK FIRE READY!

R70%
by R####:

Slow, freezes. Needs a hell of a lot of improvement. Should be able to create watch zone without all the other crap. Use your brain people and create something decent that works properly. Another Andrew's Labor government idea. Well it is crap. Grass fire 5 mins down the road and no notification. App is software diarrhoea. How about including distance like fire ready did. People like to know how close or faraway it is from them. Simple inclusion so why not have it.

R70%
by R####:

What a waste of time. In the last few weeks i recived over 30 damaging wind warnings with up to 5 in one day. And now with a total fire in place for Monday the 31 st of January i now have been told this 6 times already? Waste off time or just helping the government get it's stats up.

R70%
by R####:

This, for a lack of a better word, is S**T They should have left it the way it was. It is hard to navigate and you can do basically nothing with it. I want to be able to see what is happening around me (incidents and bushfires etc) at a glance-especially considering I live in a fire prone area! It's slow, clunky, over developed and no longer useful. It would have been easier to just add the extra bits to the previous app rather than create this monstrosity

R70%
by R####:

It's extremely laggy and sometimes unresponsive. However it does give you up to date reports of nearby emergencies. This app is in serious need of major improvements. I will not uninstall.

R70%
by R####:

If it were possible to give it zero stars, that`s how it should be rated. In trying to cover everything it`s been turned into a resource hungry, bloated, useless waste of time. I`m using a pretty flash phone less than three months old and it struggles. Also has bugs which they seem incapble of either acknowledging or fixing. Whoever approved this for release has rocks in their head.

Q70%
by Q####:

App refreshes very slowly every time you display or return to your watch list. Freezes and refreshes are very slow. Links either don't work or respond after long delays.

R70%
by R####:

Had it installed a few weeks ago. Only have the default alert warnings. I have heard the sirens multiple times but no alerts yet. Why Bother. EDIT Got a notification. With a sound that soft I can't call it an ALERT. I want to know about it.

R70%
by R####:

Preferred the old fire ready app. This one is a not so great on most upto date android platforms. The non fire related emergency info is overkill and selecting info on this very clumsy app, doesn't work well on current android, or older versions. In Central Victoria we just need a clear fire warning app without clutter or reference to a myriad of extremely rare emergencies. I'll be looking for a paid app that gives the basics of the old fireready app in a non web based platform.
