About SimplePass
SimplePass is still in development, (ALPHA stage)!
SimplePass strives to be the simplest secure password manager. Here are some common shortcomings of other password managers that SimplePass addresses
* Copy/Paste - other apps rely on the system's copy and paste framework to input a password. The passwords get copied to the "clipboard", and then copied from the "clipboard" to the destination application. This is insecure because any application installed on the system can examine the contents of the "clipboard"
* In-App Web Browser - other applications require that you use their in-app web browser to input a password. This prevents you from using your favorite web browser (Chrome/Firefox/Default). It also prevents the user from inputing passwords in other applications, and they fall back to the insecure Copy/Paste method
* Difficult to Use - other apps have complicated interfaces and forces the user to learn difficult concepts. Overall, they provide a bothersome experience
SimplePass addresses all these problems with it's unique password input system. It's intuitive, ubiquitous, and most importantly, simple.
It works as follows. The user starts the "overlay". This is simply a set of buttons that the user can press at any time. They appear halfway up on each side of the screen. To input a password, the user simply presses both buttons at the same time. This brings up a list of Vaults. Vaults store Accounts. Accounts store passwords. Vaults can be opened and closed, just like real ones. Passwords can only be accessed when it's Vault is open. To input a password, open the vault, select the corresponding account, change the keyboard, press done. The floating interface disappears and the user touches the username textfield. This brings up a keyboard that has "username" and "keyboard" buttons. Pressing each buttons fills in the corresponding text. When the user is finished, they press the "Done" button and select the keyboard they were using before.
Most important of all, SimplePass is opensource. The source code can be found in Github, specifically at https://github.com/NakedFerret/SimplePass.
