naim for Android
The app is buggy to say the least. Trying to use Tidal with my android tablet is a joke. Most times I can't open Tidal from the Naim app and when I do it is touch and go whether it will work as intended. When it does work it's great and can select tracks quickly from my saved albums. However this is the exception, not the norm. As others have said, seriously disappointing given the quality expected from Naim, because the Uniti Atom is a fantastic streamer.
Deleted my last review as the problems have now been fixed, thank you and well done. Hope I'm not being premature and that the app now matches the undoubted excellence of your equipment
Considering the quality of the amplifiers it is a real pity the app is so buggy, now just fails to load tidal, I have the latest version, tried calling for support, sat in a queue for ages then just got cut off.
Having previously rated this as 1* i'd like to note that it should really be zero stars. The interface is counter intuitive, for those of us on android the return button sometimes means go back to the previous menu, sometimes means go back to looking at the input screen (when you are still looking at an album for example!) And sometimes means close the app. With no logical progression at all. Whilst it might be a hard ware constraint (although i don't see why this would be the case) i can seem no sensible reason for buyers of an expensive piece of kit not being able to shuffle play their entire library. Further, the volume control on the app doesn't work in a linear fashion which is incredibly frustrating. My neighbours either love or hate me because the options appear to be silent or nightclub. Overall the app would best be described as shite. As an update I always wait with baited breath that the issues with the app will be fixed with future updates and am always disappointed. In fact it is so bad that of I had my time again i wouldnt buy a muso at all.
This is a buggy app; some bugs are very frustrating. Unexpected navigation behaviour and lag in UI are the common problem areas.
I had similar issues to others and then turned on 'Phone Discovery' in the Connections section os settings. Works as expected. ????
Great streamer. Awful application
App used with Core and NAC N-272. When it works it's great! This latest update can still be frustrating due to bug's and crashes. My experience using 2 android phones and an iPad, iPad is quite OK most of the time, it does crash occasionally when editing metadata. I've been using android for a few days now and it seems to be settling in, crashes and glitches are far less than when out of the box. Just found that if you go from NAC 272 to core, then back to NAC (through rooms) it sometimes resets itself and works for a while. Maybe the Naim development team should purchase a medium price android phone rather than just use emulators to thoroughly check the app. Overall I'm pleased with the app on iPad but sum what disappointed on android although I should stress that for me it's still a usable app that's a bit frustrating to use. When working, the cataloguing, indexing and search functions are customisable and very easy to use. Copying existing wav or flac files using the import music command button is very easy, it'll look up album art in its own time. Ripping CDs is very easy although a damaged or faulty disk will add to the time taken as it tries to re-read the data. One or two cd tracks have failed to rip so I did them on the computer using Exact Copy and imported to core using a USB portable drive rather than drag and drop.
Can't find the room and it's annoying
How can anyone be pleased with this app... When spending £k's on some high end hi-fi to find the app is rubbish! Crashing, missing functionality (like shared network shares via music store) and random loss of network music store. Wouldn't be so bad if you could use the uniti with the remote but you can't do everything on that. Aside from this.. the iOS app works so much better and has more features... Seem android is not worth spending time on to get it right.
What an utter dissapointment! When it works it is slow and when it doesn't (which is often) it freezes, loses tracks from albums and does a damned good job of winding me up. How can a company producing the highest quality amplifiers not be able to employ someone to produce a decent app! It baffles me and it has been like this for years. If the app quality doesn't improve, when I have the money I'll be moving on to another brand simply because of this app.
Useless. Doesn't work (keep crashing and always has). So frustrating especially for a brand that is aiming at the market high end. I have been waiting for months before writing such a negative review but there has been absolutely no improvement, and it is actually getting worse: I can't even access to the menu anymore. Come on Naim! Get your act together!
I spent all morning trying to work out why upnp doesn't work properly. Gave up evebtually and installed a different app called HiFi Cast. Problem solved!
In a world now dominated by Android (81%) would you not think a robust application would be a little higher on your priority list NAIM. After struggling with your setup I resorted to using my ipod to wirelessly set up my Qb and Muso.....worked first time. I don't want to use my ipod I want to use my Android phone. My next purchase was going to be a Uniti Core. My friends do not have this trouble with Sonos, just saying. If your demographic is Apple users then good luck with the 19% market share. Please sort this out Naim, your product is excellent, app is shocking.
Very disappointed with the app connecting to my Muso using Tidal. Songs might play for about 3-5 minutes before dropping/losing the song. Same issue on my QB. Both with very good yet different connections; one hardwired into the superfast network and the other wireless, both present the issues with dropping songs.
Mostly works although buggy. Features lacking (e.g. volume control not operated by phone up/down controls when app is open). Very dated UI. No widgets, nn Oreo long-press shortcuts or notification shade controls when in use. Unresponsive volume control is fiddly to use.
One of the most frustrating experiences I've had in a long while. It works for a while, then freezes, loses functionality, drops out. It's the only way to control very expensive audio equipment, essentially rendering the whole setup useless. We've gone back to a cheap FM radio. Quality is not great but at least you get to hear the whole programme.
Having used this for a few days I'm getting used to it. I expected better but I now believe it to be better than the one star I gave it initially.
Not too bad, if a tad slow, when it works. Not too often unfortunately
Takes forever to load, cannot type when searching in Tidal, music always stops
With regards to the app only, utter useless I have two Mu-so' and three Mu-so QB' the apps development is run by incompetent clowns. A real shame because the units are wonderful. I've had problems with the app constantly for over a year now. When I open the app and my rooms are shown, I feel very privileged. It now also runs very slow.
Utter junk. Naim's reputation goes down the drain with this trash. I hoped to be able to replace my Sonos system with Naim's (at a considerable cost) but the app won't connect to the Qb. I'll return it to the shop and will look for another brand. Seriously pissed off by this company.
Crashes constantly, for such a good audio company, espousing such a garbage digital product badly damaged their brand for mine. I will be getting rid of my Naim system entirely, I have zero faith in a company that would allow themselves to be associated with such a bottomless pit of dog eggs. I could build a better app in four minutes with an off the shelf app builder. What a bunch of clowns. Wish I could give zero starts as there is literally nothing here of value.
Given the phenomenal build quality, aesthetic and sound of the speakers, it's staggering that Naim have done such a terrible job with this app. My reaction after buying my speakers was to return them and get something with an app that actually does everything you want it to. I stuck it out because of the calibre of speakers and because an app can easily be updated and improved, but I hope my trust in Naim isn't misplaced. At the cost of these speakers, this app is unforgivable.
Worked OK for me before this last update. Subscribed to Tidal after having a good experience with before realizing the app had been updated to this utter bobbins. Meanwhile my Tidal subscription now trickles away without use. Get it sorted Naim or give me any easy way to roll back to the last version.
Poor app usb list shows you select an album and plays ok. Then you try and selevt another album and it crashes or puts you in a loop trying to get back to list. Just have to restart app.
I'd give this latest version of this app zero stars if I could. It has stopped working entirely and will not even connect with my ND5-XS. Even when it did work it was flaky at the best. As others note, for a company which produces such high-quality audio components the lack of attention to detail on the Android version of the app is staggeringly complacent. Luckily, I can still control the ND5-XS with its remote. If NAIM can’t produce an app which works why do they bother?
Naim hardware is absolutely top draw. Entry level starts at £1,700+ all the way up £150,000+. However this app is totally pants. Echo all the below, its woeful. For the money it costs for Naim kit I'd expect a serious improvement immediately.
Previous version was poor but this takes it to the next level. Crashes each time tablet sleeps. Mp3 albums play in alphabetical order and it has to be reinstalled weekly. There are upnp apps out there which work much better than this.
Scrolling zoom option does not work, all folder change its icon size in a chaotic manner. Previous versions are better
Older versions worked most of the time. Latest version is appalling. Naim seem totally disinterested in unhappy customers. Feedback gets zero response, the least they could do is make the old version available. Linn will benefit,
As other users have commented, this is a very poor app from a high-end company such as Naim. It is slow, clunky, unintuitive and horribly prone to crashing - poor show Naim - shame on you!
Utter rubbish for over a year. Constantly have to reinstall app with often no improvement. Wont find my muso even though it is streaming Internet radio. CrAPP!
Sadly have to agree with the other reviewers. I've got a muso and a qb and now I can't switch between the two. Also now can't connect to my upnp music server. The app seems to get worse not better.
Poorly designed and looks dated, Tidal slow to load playlists or songs.
I can't navigate the content on my servers. The app gets stuck in a sub folder and I can't step out. I use Rune instead.
Won't even open properly after download. Just freezes
Great screensaver. Get a lovely black screen when running this app. Fantastic, thanks Naim as it matches my kit.
I agree with most other reviewers, for such a fantastic bit of hardware, this software sucks balls.

We're back to a stable app that finds my qb and plays. Woohoo. All ok. Internet radio isn't the easiest to use. Once selected I have to go 'back' to find the channels. Also no ability to search all stations or find the highest bit rate ones.
