GLTools is a custom OpenGLES driver (proxy), that is compatible with any known OpenGLES 2.0-compatible GPU + ARM or x86 processor. If you still don't understand, what this app is, the closest known analog is Chainfire3D.
Features list:
- Change resolution and rendering bitness in any app, even if it doesn't support that by default.
- Change GPU name and enjoy enhanced graphics even on a noname low-end GPU.
- Take full control over textures: now you can decompress/recompress them (even if your GPU doesn't support that texture format) and resize. Note that decompression feature is available only if you'll install a plugin (internet is required to do that)
- Optimize shaders on-the-fly for optimal performance (the same optimizer is used in Unity3D engine by default)
- Enable MSAA or CSAA in any app to improve graphics quality (make sure that your GPU supports that)
- Measure gained performance with a nice onscreen FPS counter (or you can output FPS information to Logcat if you are a pro)
GLTools is 100% safe if you have a custom recovery installed (and you didn't disable backup in GLTools install dialog), if you'll find it non-working, you can just flash uninstall_gltools.zip in recovery and email me with details (or request a refund). If you don't have one, it is NOT safe, just like any other system-related tool, make sure that you are able to recover your firmware in case of any problems.
Failed on:
- Nexus 6 @ Android 6.0.1
- Stock Nvidia Shield firmwares
- Some games fail to work on devices with Mail GPU even with GLTools enabled. Adreno is supported much better.
Not working by design on:
- RemixOS.
- Non-rooted devices.
- Emulators of any kind.

What I find odd here is that this app works great on my stock firmware nvidia shield tablet(TN7). Even if in the description it shows that it would have failed, mine however did not. 5/5 works like a charm

Loved it on lollipop, and it worked like a charm, but it doesn't have Marshmallow or Nougat support yet. I just upgraded my phone from lollipop to Marshmallow, and can't get it to work. If it works, it is a beautiful piece of work, but Marshmallow and Nougat users beware! Until full support is made for this app, I would warn to stay away. Until then, I'm just waiting for the update.

I was having issues with my Redmi Note 4 in playing high-end games before. All the reviews I've read and watched showed that it can play high-end games easily. Like I said, it was showing poor gaming performance until I installed this. I immediately felt the improvement. Still quite far from what the gaming reviews said, but still an improvement. I wonder, can we add a custom gpu template ourselves? If it's possible I'd like to try and add my phone's actual gpu which is Mali T880. Great job!

I love this app, it's allowing me to play games smoothly without having to buy a new phone. In my case, I had to tick both 2D and EGL hack for the resolution change to take effect.

Previous games that can't be hacked is now possible, my phone now doesn't have to struggle. I tried this on RemixOS too, it works as well. Requires root on first install, I unrooted and it operates normally. I just wish there was a simple knowledgebase on what each setting does.

Whats the best setting? Im on a xiaomi redmi note 4 MTK version and im still having a lag on mobile legends. I checked 16 bit rendering and optimize gl sl shaders. I used gpu template - Tegra 4 and Mali T700. I aldo lowered the resolution to x.50 and still lag. Pls help
