Wickr Me – Private Messenger

2 years ago I was raided by New Zealand Customs Service in relation to alleged drug offending. In my documents, they report that nothing on my phone could be recovered due to Wickrs 'Secure Shredder.' I can confirm that Wickr does what it says. Thanks Wickr for protecting my privacy :)

Please stop with the lies about updating for stability issues. this release is much less stable than the last one. constant crashes. messages fail to be sent/received right away. undesirable changes to the features. I was a loyal wickr user. please roll back the update or I will start to delete and use a different app and encourage your users to switch apps as well

This app sux everytime i read a message i need to change burn time and expiration timer everytime!!!! I only get notification alerts if im logged on but not whrn im logged off. My friends have same dsmn problems. Anyone got any other app i can use????

Update had made the app unusable as I can't add my old friends without adding a phone number or email. Basically you have to identify someone for a private messaging app, which defeats the whole purpose. Why can't you just message using their user name like you use to?

This used to be my favorite messenging app. Please change it back. My friend can take screen shots with her iphone even when they are disabled on my end. It used to give me a notice if she took a screenshot but it doesn't now. The look of it is worse too. It just looks like a normal messenging app. The little locks and the the time count down was a nice feature. Also the shredder is gone. I'm switching to another app. I'll come back to this one if it's changed back.

The old version of this app was way more secure. It would automatically log you out after a certain time, there were No screenshots, and the message timer was convenient and easy to use. Now the app logs me in automatically sometimes, defeating the purpose of a password, and people are allowed to take screenshots. I want the old wickr back.

I used to love wickr, but now it seems like something suss is going on with the app. I used to love the fact wickr used to auto sign me out after 5 mins, but now of i log out i get no notifications and if im logged in it doesnt auto log out.... pointless now..

This was a fantastic messaging app prior to the most recent update. It seems they took many features away just to make the app look pretty. Most notably, removing the auto-delete timer for messages is very inconvenient and has me looking else where for secure messaging.

I like the old wicker better. Its way better and more secure. Have to change stupid distruction time now, for messages and for each coversation which is a hassle. Also it sometimes logs in automatically without asking for password which is defeating the whole purpose of why we use this app. Sort this out wicker. Or you will lose your users!!

Hi, Your new update is totally not secure! It automatically logs in AND does that when the phone ran dead, plugged in restarted and auto logged in after fresh boot. Yes I have the authentication box checked and has requested authentication before but after booting it's like it's just all of a sudden forgot to authenticate? Good thing I've put Wickr in an encrypted container or I'd have zero protection. Not cool. Going to mod the old app to have new version number so I can continue using it and not be forced to upgrade to this s**t version that seems to offer little more than the previous app did along with shredding functionality removed. Definitely not release quality.

Unlike most, I prefer this so far. Wickr always looked ugly and crashed. It definitely looks better, I'll see how it works. Big problem, thiugh--I see no option to turn off notification sounds. I'm either blind, or someone was just insane for not offering that.

Loved the app until the new version. Where is the ability to set a time for autologout? Set the notification sound? Attach pic, video, audio recording? Privacy features lost. Unfriendly and hard to figure out. Hate it. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? Nico Sell, help!

Good update wickr. Crashes on launch this app has been amazing. Until 4:16pm on August 15, 2017... After reinstalled it worked for a few hours. Then same error occured. Again reinstalled and fixed it. We will see how long it works again. The app itaelf is useful and I like it. These crashes are tiresome.

Crashes every time I attempt to tske a photo. No video options. Now allows receiver to take screenshots, definitely not secure any more. I would prefer to go back to the original version

New update isn't great. It feels much slower than before, no more auto logout and the use of screen names now in chat all make it feel much less secure too. A step backwards for me unfortunately. Looks pretty at cost of important functionality.

Pls bring back the old app. How did you guys end up redesigning to the worst app ever. All messages open up in 30 secs.. how do I read? I liked the lock feature that lets the user read one at a time..looks like time to find another one

Screenshots are possible now, even if turned off from your end. Messages open instantly. How secure is this new version? Did you guys roll over in the face of different authorities?

Kiss method should be reapplied to this app. Keep it simple stupid.. old version felt safe. This does not. Release this as a new app for the trendies and take this back to what wikr was all about.. safe and simple secure messaging

The newest update ruined the app. EDIT: It crashes as soon as I press the app icon. This happens both on my XCover 2 and Huawei Mediapad.

Complete rubbish!!!! Use to be OK. Then the updates made it so unstable that it crashed all the time. Other end didn't receive messages and so on....... I mean all the time. Well now I can't even contact my friends if they have not updated the app.

Why did you guys change it so I have to manually change every burn on read timer for every conversation, so annoying. Also why can you take screen shots now! Please fix this shiz

Where have the options gone? Auto destruct and delete all history gone since update CANT EVEN ADD NEW CONTACTS! WHAT HAVE YOU IDIOTS DONE TO THIS APP?

Used to love this app. The new version was FORCED to update/download now it will not even open after download. Very disappointed...loved the app in previous veraiin...because IT WORKED!!! I have tried the uninstall, restart, and reinstall. Same result. VERY disappointed and might as well give up on the HORRIFIC update and move on to the recommended apps which people seem to be happier with??

Not entirely happy with the update(s) My biggest issue right now is that I am not receiving notifications when I get a message, which is extremely frustrating.

I've used wickr for 3 years and despite stability issues and outbound messages occasionally getting "stuck" I generally liked it. This new release is garbage. In the world of tech it seriously takes effort and some serious thinking errors to develop a new release that is significantly WORSE than it's previous release. Autologin/authentication finite control...gone! It's either login for EVERY message or turn it completely off. In app video messages gone! Message destruct options either 1 min or 10 minutes. The ability to set it at 3 or even 5 minutes...gone! Settings for individual messages in a very unintuitive place. Many granular settings.. Gone! Deleting messages/recalling messages... How the hell do you do that! I've been scratching my head on some of these changes. Please don't release things without doing some consumer focus groups and some smaller field tests. I've worked in tech for 16 years and I'm trying to think of a worse commercial release. I'm sure there are several examples but I'm struggling to come up with a single one. I'll have to scroll back through some of the reviews but it initially appears as if this release is a huge FAIL. Sorry Wickr. I've loved you in the past but it's now time to find a better replacement. I imagine you're losing users in droves by now. You should never do a new release with fewer features than the previous release. The user interface also needs some serious re-thinking. Very unintuitive.

Hate the changes! Plenty of other apps like this already. I loved the lock in the last version. Can we get that back?

Horrible major release: existing accounts unusable, message history lost. And still closed-source

it logs automatically in, even its disabled. no general setting for autodestruct. huge steps back regarding security! please fix it or lose all users...

Newest update is garbage. Doesn't work unless everyone on your contact has the newest version.

App worked great until new update, now keeps crashing... hopefully another update to fix this soon or will be losing a lot of downloads

Latest update brings a much needed UI upgrade but is missing the ability to turn off vibration or notification sound. I prefer to have silent notification that I only see in the notification bar but not have it make noise. An app meant for privacy should take this into account

Used to be great now it's it almost unusable don't know why they screwed it up so completely. Use telegram instead

This app was good for private messaging. Now I don't know what to think with the new crash date

No idea why they rooted the app with this update. When I try to log into my old account it just seems to make a new account every time, and when that 'new' account is created it indeed is new. All my contacts are gone. I also have no idea how to readd those contacts as the only options I can see are for adding email and phone, which not only defeats the purpose of a private messenger but is also useless for me as I don't know anyone's details except for their wickr. So now I can't contact those people and will have to find another way. Thanks, completely ruined.

bring back the old wickr app, this is just garbage now. nothing works and all of the good functions have been changed up. seems less secure than before and none of the messages seem to actually go through

It is now the worst private messaging app after the update.

Crashes a lot. Before the update i would never get notifications even though notifications were turned on in both setting for the app and my phone settings. Since the new update i cant even open the app. Keeps saying the app keeps stopping.

Gone from Wickr to Crapr....good one Nigel

I prefer the touch & hold feature for viewing pictures and videos. Please bring that back universally.

Ok updated today and now i can't even log because of an unknow error, i would like to know why i have too many importants contats for loose my account please help me, the site have no issue for the ones who can't log in
