About Harmony Tasker Plug-in

The Harmony tasker plug-in combines the best of two worlds. It combines the powerful IR capabilities of Logitech Harmony remotes with the flexibility of Tasker. This plug-in currently supports the following capabilities:

- Allows to add and control multiple Logitech Harmony hubs (tested with Logitech Harmony Ultimate)
- Supports stopping the current activity
- Support running specific defined activities.
- As oppose to some 'hacker' solutions, this plug-in requires NO root on your phone and does not need the native app to function.
- NEW: this plug-in now supports individual device commands.

Instructions:

1) first start the Harmony Ultimate Tasker plug-in main application and define a hub profile.
2) Define your tasks in Tasker, the plug-in can be found under the Plug-in section in Tasker.

Please note: this is a Tasker plug-in, you need Tasker to make this functional to you.

Unfortunately, this app constantly crashes whenever the Harmony Hub has connectivity problems over the local wireless network. The Harmony app itself had problems in this situation until a recent update cured the problem by connecting via the cloud. Unfortunately, this plug-in doesn't seem to have that capability. Would give it 5 stars if it worked.

by K####:

I hate using the Harmony app, so this seemed great at first. But I am having the same issues as others with commands repeating, they function fine in the Harmony app. Navigating menus and adjusting volumes doesn't work well as it causes skips as multiple commands are sent. The settings option doesn't function, perhaps the Dev was planning to add something but his listed website is down and his email is invalid so I don't expect any fixes. Works ok for simple stuff like power toggle.

Crashes when trying to select run activity. Maybe an inconsistency with the harmony app? Stop activity and run individual action both allow me to create task without crashing

X70%
by X####:

I have considered this app essential for a while. Latest update has rendered it impossible to configure, and crashes both this app and tasker upon trying to set any command. Does this on every android device I own. Please fix soon!

After two days of trying i was able to save the Hub configuration. Still unable to use this plug in. Always crashing.

Was working fine until I upgraded to 7.0. Now it doesn't work 90% only the time and the app just freezes. Tested on a Note 5 with 7.0 and a S8+.

First of all, kudos to the developer - I am able to make full house custom remote control system ( the original harmony app is for brainless ppl). And that is why I am giving it +2 stars. However, some commands will hung the plugin for 30 seconds and not execute at all. Number buttons on Windows Media Center remote just to name same. I can work around it by re-learning every failing command and so far I got it done over 20 times. I did email developer a month ago - no response yet. That is the sad part

Fantastic things you can do with this app, when it works! Just crashes if you validate hub on one of my devices. On the nexus 7 it will work for a day or two then have to be revalidated. Skip forward randomly will not work no matter what I do too. Hope developer is still working to develop this, as it has great potential.

Please fix this tasker plug-in though. It no longer works and I depend on it to run the house off my wall mounted Tablet. It says (something is wrong and would I like to send a report) I did, but please, please fix. Otherwise this is the best plugin when it works. Harmony is the only app that does what I want. Please fix the tasker plugin.

I was delighted finding this plugin as I currently use tasker to control my vera, which controls harmony to control sky.... I thought it would be great to side step Vera and make my own remote app to replace harmony app. When pressing a single tap button on tasker (for example left command for sky) it produces the command multiple times meaning I cannot navigate menus. Needs fixed as Vera home control can manage it so this should be able to. It does a single pulse, a delay then 3 pulses

I can do E V E R Y T H I N G NOW!!! I can put shortcuts, buttons, and even sequences on my HOMESCREEN!!!!! I haven't done much Testing yet but I will keep this review updated. (S3 cdma 4.4.2 rooted) ))))UPDATE(((( Sometimes the hub's IP address needs to be entered MANUALLY. Figure out your hubs IP address in the "about" section of the app, then come back to this page in the Play Store and hit the "Open" Button, then click the "+" sign and you should be able to enter your IP address at that screen.

Great when it worked, but then Marshmallow came out and now it crashes every single time on the Nexus 6. I wouldn't hesitate to rate it five stars if it would just work! The developer's site appears to be unreachable at the time of writing this. PROBLEM SOLVED: Coincidentally, the IP on the Harmony Hub changed when I upgraded to Marshmallow; if this plugin can't connect to the hub (wrong IP, in my case), then it crashes. Ensure the IP is correct and it should work - hopefully!

C70%
by C####:

It crashes if you input the wrong IP address. IP address of the hub can be found in harmony app > menu > about > version and then make sure you do not delete the "5222" (port) before you validate the connection. Wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out.

A70%
by A####:

The app is simple and does exactly what it's meant to, though like others here I've found that it tends to crash quite often. The moment there are even slight connectivity problems with the hub, it will crash. There may be other causes but sometimes it just seems to crash for no reason at all (even when I'm not using tasker or any of my profiles)

When it works it's great but it crashes/freezes a lot. IP of hub didn't change so that shouldn't be the problem.

Worked Great. Now I can control my TiVo from my watch (Gear S2)! Because, WHY NOT? I have an older Harmony Smart Hub / Remote and was glad that this worked. (2013 Logitech - Harmony Smart Control [the non- "home" version]) I have very low latency. (under 1 second) which is fine for my needs. I wanted an easy way to do basic pause/play/skip/volume from my watch which I always wear, then I don't have to find where the remote got off to (hidden in the couch or under a blanket or across the room, or whatever). Considering all that is going on process wise, I have no complaints. Watch -> BT -> Phone -> Tasker -> Plug in -> WiFi -> Harmony Hub -> IR Extender -> TiVo. Nexus 5, Stock, Current Firmware 6.0.1, Gear S2, Stock Current Firmware R732xxu2a0j3, Harmony Smart Hub, Stock Current Firmware.

I have tried to use this on a Harmony Ultimate Hub coupled with a couple of Samsung smart TVs. Whilst some functions work it will not trigger the transmission of any of the numeric digits despite the Logitech app doing so. This significantly limits the usefulness of the add-in for me.
