About Clean Music Player

Clean Music is a simple, fast, and elegant folder-based audio player. You browse to the directory and tap the file; no mangled metadata, no scanning your collection, and no meaningless icons or placeholder album artwork.

Simple doesn't mean basic, and feature-filled doesn't mean slow or difficult to use; Clean Music combines an easy-to-use UI with a small amount of powerful features and meaningful customization options.

WHAT'S IN THE FREE VERSION

☆ Take advantage of all the cool Android features: Gapless playback and notification controls on Android 4.1+, lockscreen controls and an equalizer on Android 4.0+, and integration with other apps on all Android versions.

☆ Specify exactly what you want to play by long-click selecting songs and folders. For example, loop a single song by long clicking it, clicking the play button, and turning repeat on. And/or shuffle all your music by long-clicking your music folder, tapping play, and shuffling.

☆ In a long song or audiobook, keep your place with Remember Position, and move around by tapping the numbers next to the seek bar.

☆ If order is important, and the file names are not already sorted, MetaSort them.

☆ Go to sleep to your music using the Sleep Timer.

☆ And search (even using Google Now's "listen to" command).

★ Save a selection of songs, or what you're listening to now, as a playlist.

★ Push what you're listening to Last.fm (using ScrobbleDroid), and they can recommend new music.

★ And show off your album artwork.

This one is good, clean and simple, everything I need to play a music in the storage, it would be better I if supports remote control. Well it doesn't work on my phone when I press pause button on the earphone. And this is only a player, not a media server, so those who want to find music in this app, you won't find any. You have to put some musics in you SD card first!

This is everything I ever wanted. Almost every music app I've tried fills the screen with so much junk and makes the controls tiny and hidden at the bottom of the screen that I need to stop what I'm doing just to stare at it and fiddle. Not this app, straight to the point. Also, I've only ever used file folder based organization, and this does it flawlessly. Still has all the features you want in a good player though

5✨ for this:- This has that one????feature that I have been requesting several developers to have i.e., to be able to play any one selected file just once without proceeding to the next file or getting into a repeat loop. Request Mr. Howell to come back????

I wanted something that can old my long files.. This one works but if I try and use the seek function, it deselects the track, stopping playback and I have to tap the track again to play it, starting from the beginning.. Useless to me, uninstalled..

It doesn't PROVIDE music! I looked up a whole bunch of songs but nope. Nothing came up! It only plays the music you bought from a store or something, like my tablet preloaded 3 violin songs ( like what is this ) and that's all that popped up.

by G####:

Decent, but a bit too basic. It plays music in the music folder with a .nomedia file in it, it has gapless playback, plays ogg and flac just fine. The bad stuff: clicking shuffle immediately plays the next song. There's no way to turn shuffle off, except for re-starting playing the folder and last, there is no shuffle album/folder option

I searched Payphone by Maroon 5 and nothing came up, so I pressed almost every button!!! Nothing happened!!! What the heck do you think this is?!?! A freak show?!?! Don't try to waste your time trying to figure out how to work this dumb app. Now I have to go back to unclean music by Spotify Music. Ugh!!!!!! Don't waste your time trying to figure it out. Many other people seem to SOMEHOW enjoy it, so I'll give it a 2 anyways. Just don't waste your time. Bye!!! ????

Awesome app without excess functionality. One bug occurred recently with MIUI8 - it stops playing in background then resumes then again stops. Probably has more to do with the OS itself. Thanks, author.

Got a new phone, now the app won't read my music files on my MicroSD card. Liked this one cos you could use folder view. . . drat.

I have tested lots of "intuitive" and "simple" folderplayers, just to discover design screw-ups more often then less. The author of this app however hits the mark just about right, I think. Following the KISS software-design rule: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

At last an app where gapless playback which I need for classical music and lots of albums I listen to (Beatles, Pink Floyd..). I also love the fact it's folder-based without tags and all that crap. I can't seem to set the default directory though with Android 4.4.2 (nor add bookmarks)

Uninstalled "Google Music" without any hesitation after my first try on "Clean Music". This music player got all the functions I need! Also it supports the Dolby Digital Equalizer I already have. Lightweight(the whole app only 179kb) and powerful! Love it! Thanks for the great app! :)

Good and simple, clean interface, works for external as card (but need several steps to browse to the folder, thru root/storage, the extsdcard is not working), the only strange thing is that it auto pause during playing, and would not pause during phone call. Hope author can improve it, 90k size is dramatic.

I'm looking for a clean app...Amari list of my songs on my SD card that I can play/RW/FF all on the list screen, small and uncluttered. This is the app I've been wanting. Until I found that the repeat setting doesn't work. Back to searching again.

C70%
by C####:

Clean and it works. One deficiency is that if you multi select in a certain order the order is always ignored and the selection plays from top to bottom. Otherwise a nice job.

C70%
by C####:

Very nice and clean interface, lightweight, supports folder-based playback. It would've been just what I was looking for in a player but... it doesn't play music from an external sdcard (where all my music is!). Very disappointing, really.

I was using VLC but it began to forget where I paused if the pause was more than s few minutes. I liked VLC because I could select from folders. I looked for another player which would do the same and I found this player. It is working well so far.

My favorite player but lacks one important feature: 'now playing' playlist needs options for sorting and removing songs. Also player crashes if cover art is too big (>1000x1000px)

We Wanted A Music Player That Does Not Do Any UnNecessary System Level Access or Internet Access, This App Is Exactly That :) It Can Play Music (From MP4/MP3) Files In Background While We Can Do Something Else On Another App. Thank you. Bugs: sometime it conflicts w/ apps & crashes apps, which use screen-layers, etc.

C70%
by C####:

No ads, very responsive, decent widget, and unique design. This has been my favorite folder-based music player for a while, and this last update has removed IAP(all features are now enabled).

Y70%

This is by far the best music player i've seen on android. Lightweight package, folder based interface, perfect. Flac files sound unbelievable. Better quality and even higher volume than foobar. The equalizer is unavailable and there are no buttons on the notification area or lockscreen, but this only makes it go down from 6 stars to 5 stars. Absolutely amazing little app

C70%
by C####:

I like this app is what I was looking for, simple and clean. I wished it had a little icon showing the artwork from the audio file. The main problem I had with this app that it does not support .WMA file format.

C70%
by C####:

Within this app I can locate all my files by folder on my SD Card. It plays what's in the folder only. Unless I select a different one.

J70%
by J####:

It's simple and easy to use! Love how it remembers where I left off. Couple cons: there is no option to fast forward or rewind by the seconds. You can jump by increments of time with a size determined by file length, but that doesn't let you hone in on a timestamp. There is the typical slider for playback position but I find it to be really finicky and almost impossible to land on the time you want in a larger audio file e.g. a 2 hour podcast. Also this is likely an obscure bug, but playback pauses every

C70%
by C####:

Doesn't find, organize or play music or anything else.

C70%
by C####:

It's good, but the play/pause and forward/back buttons are too closely spaced. When reviewing material that needs frequent pausing/unpausing, it's too easy to accidentally hit forward/back, thus losing one's place.

C70%
by C####:

Down voting because Every time when the player takes over and resumes the music/audio after a phone call or audio interruption, the audio starts from beginning. It is very annoying particularly while listening to audio books!

I70%

Fantastic. I've been using this app for about six months. Does nothing but enable you to play your music easily, without trying to impose it's ideas of how your files should be organised. No ads, no nothing. Heaven!

C70%
by C####:

Organising by folder is fundamentally superior to arbitrary ID tag sorting in the same way manual transmission is superior to automatic: You have more direct control over whatyou are doing, and it is more satisfying than having a machine make all the decisions for you.

R70%

Otherwise great effort to make a clean music player. Switched to VLC for Android.

F70%

Despite a few minor flaws, like not so good lockscreen integration and sometimes not responding to tap-and-hold commands I give the designer of this app 5 stars for ease of use. It's an app I can't go without.

G70%
by G####:

Just moved from NRG Player because it is using lot of memory. In this app, I am not able to delete the track that is being played, if I don't like it. It is important for me because of limited space. I will update more findings.

M70%

Simple and good design.. but the sound seams to be somewhat not that good if you put on the EQ.

M70%

It sorts my music alphabetically, a simple thing that darned Walkman app isn't able to do (now looking for a way to remove it from my Xperia). I will contribute to Clean Music as soon as I find the $donate button. Thanks a lot.

My new favorite music player. Simple, fast, uncluttered. Material Design would be sweet as long as it doesn't detract from the clean simplified interface. Ticks all my boxes.

I wanted a music app and got it here, to play audio I loaded on my phone that isn't requiring me to login create yet another account and password and get more uninvited emails as the vendor and Google scan my phone audio files and taps.
