Kanzashi

Increasingly popular among restless masters is building a tsumy kanzashi with their hands. This original technique of needlework came to us from the land of the Rising Sun. Based on the tzoumaz lies kanzashi origami – the traditional Japanese art of folding of paper craft. That's just in this case not folded paper, and small squares of silk that turn into amazing flowers and floral arrangements.

The emergence of silk origami we owe the geisha, which in addition to the exquisite kimono, fancy makeup and painted fans began to create fanciful hairstyles, decorated with flowers made of fabric. Because in the traditional Japanese female dress is not allowed the use of necklaces and wrist ornaments, decoration hairstyles became one of the main ways of self-expression. Initially silk flowers intended to decorate hairpins, combs and sticks in the hairstyles of the geisha, but over time they have gained wider acceptance in Japanese society. Until the mid-20th century kanzashi were not just a fashion accessory, and an indicator of the social status of Japanese women, which can be judged on its belonging to a particular segment of society, about marriage and even the number of children.
